```markdown ``` IN AFTERNOON RITES — The former JoAnne Wood, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Andrew Wood poses in her bridal gown of peau de soie and Alencon lace following her marriage to Stephen Simmons Brixey Jr. of Laguna Beach at the First Presbyterian Church in Anaheim. Bride is a graduate of USC and her husband a graduate of UCLA. They will make their home in Westwood in the fall. Here and There Art Davidson of Santa Ana has been elected president of the Don Knights, honorary men's service organization at Santa Ana College. Other new officers are Burns Hovey, Garden Grove, vice president; and Dean Carl Schulz, adviser. Present members include Richard Unwin, Ralph Gregory, Bill Kirkconnell, Tom Kirkconnell, Ertuvan Kanatsis, Bob Matthews, Ken Esse and Earle Truax, Santa Ana; Greg Dallaire, Garden Grove, and Allyn Miller, Anaheim. The Supreme Executive Council of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, on behalf of the 128 active and 92 alumni chapters, has approved Long Beach State College for a charter in the 90-year-old organization, it was announced yesterday. May 9 has been set for the formal installation ceremonies of the current local Lambda Beta, which will become Gamma Beta of Kappa Sigma. The Prospectors' Class of the First Methodist Church will hold an installation dinner June 5, at Methodists Set Speaker May 6 Loyd O. Schaad, builder and agricultural demonstration expert in Angola, Africa, will speak at the Orangethorpe Methodist Women's Society of Christian Service meeting on Wednesday. For the last seven years, Schaad has been in charge of the large mission station at Quessus in interior Angola and supervisor of its agricultural and industrial departments. Following the meeting a potluck luncheon will be served. Nearly 200 women and their daughters attended the first annual Mother-Daughter Banquet at the Orangethorpe Methodist Church. Bulletin Tuesday, May 5 CHURCH NUPTIALS JoAnne Wood Becomes Bride of Stephen Simmons Brixey, Jr. Blush pink gladioll, white stock and white snapdragon set the color scheme for the lovely afternoon nuptial ceremony at First Presbyterian Church, which united JoAnne Wood of Anaheim and Lt. Stephen Simmons Brixey, Jr., of Laguna Beach. The Rev. Dallas Turner performed the double ring rites. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Andrew Wood of 588 S. West St., and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Simmons Brixey, Sr. of Laguna Beach. Peau de Soie Escorted by her father down the pink-carpeted aisle which was lined with pink tapers and gladioli. The bride was gowned in white peau de soie and re-embroidered Alencon lace. The delicate lace formed a portrait neckline, and accentuated the fitted waistline. The lace bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Phyllis McMeen, Miss Judy Wolfson, Mrs. Richard Jordan, Mrs. John Gans, Mrs. Joseph Consani and Mrs. Denny Dickenson. Larry Brixey, brother of the bridegroom, served as bestman, while Frank Yoder, John Gans, Don Sturdevant, Jim Roth, Mike Smith and Cliff DeFord escorted guests to their places. Robert Larsen of Santa Ana was soloist. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents where the pink color motif was carried out with peonies, roses and snapdragons. The bride and her husband received guests before a screen of gardenias. Seven attendants preceded the bride to the altar. They all wore identical gowns of hyacinth blue silk organza fashioned with scoop necklines, bouffant skirts and satin sashes and bows. Their headpieces were of matching silk organza and they carried crushed raspberry pink peonies with hyacinth blue bows. They were Miss Norma Saunders of Corning, Calif.; Miss Doana Ball of Alhambra, and Miss Margaret Deister from San Diego. In their bouquets were white carnations with pink rose bud centers. Their headaddresses were in matching pink shade. Little Miss Cherry Campbell of Covina, dressed in a pink frock, was the flower girl while Master Robin Campbell served as ring bearer. For the wedding Mrs. Gilliland chose a white lace dress with pink accessories and Mrs. Kwast a dress in blue shade. For traveling the new Mrs. Kwast was dressed in a dress of pink handkerchief linen, her accessories in white. She will continue her studies at the Baptist college while her husband, the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Kwast of 620 Amboy, Anaheim, is a graduate of Sexton High School, Lansing Mich.; The Grand Rapids Bible Institute and obtained his B.A. Degree from the California Baptist College at Covina. He is director of Christian Education program at the Bethel Baptist Church in this city. The young couple are making their home in Pomona. St. Michael’s Annual Dinner To Be Monday The mother-daughter banquet of the First Presbyterian Church of Anaheim will be held on Monday, May 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the social hall of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. This is an annual affair greatly anticipated by both young and old. Awards will be given to various mother-daughter categories, with a special surprise for the little guests. The group will be entertained by Albini, a magician with 25 years of experience, who has taught many top movie stars. He is an inventor of magic and has written many books on the subject. Tickets for the banquet may be obtained at the church office. ALL-OVER CHANTILLY LACE — A gown designed with delicate imported lace over taffeta, its sleeves complemented with her lily of the valley and orchid bouquet was worn by Miss Frances Montgomery when she married Daniel Debevec in the St. Plus Church, Buea Park. (Arsene Photo) Montgomery, Debevec Rites Read in Church Jade green gowns, worn by the attendants to the bride, were the striking contrast to Miss Frances Montgomery's wedding gown of all-over Chantilly lace over taffeta, when she stood at the altar of the St. Plus V Church in Buena Park, to recite her marriage vows with Daniel Debevec. Officiating at the Nuptial High Mass was the Rev. John Feeney, with Edgar Montgomery giving his daughter in marriage. For her wedding, Miss Montgomery chose lily of the valley and white orchids for her bridal bouquet. Her veil, held to her hair with a delicately scalloped cap, fell to three-quarter length over her beautifully designed gown, the full skirt having a chapel train. The bride carried her mother' pearl rosary as one of her sentimental accents. In her bridal party were Miss Judy Debevec, sister of the bride-groom, the maid of honor, and attendants: Mrs. Mona Clements of Lakewood, Miss Malte Mendoza of Buena Park and Miss Carol Lusin of Anaheim. Their jade green taffeta gowns were princess-styled with a cowl collar, the full skirts ending in a train. White carnations were in their bouquets and their hats matched the color in their Charles Lusin and Andy Manzi of Anaheim. Nuptial Songs "Ave Maria," "O Sanctissima," and "On This Day, O Blessed Mother," were the nuptial songs. The sofolst was Mrs. Joseph Praeger with Mrs. A. F. Faust at the organ console. White stock were arranged at the altar of the church, with the flower repeated in decorations for the garden reception held at the Capilla de San Antonio. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Montgomery chose a pink lace dress, its complement a white orchid dress. Mother of the bridegroom wore a dress in blue silk, her corsage also an orchid. Legend of Couple The bride, who received her training as a nurse at Louisville, Ky., is a registered nurse at St. Jude Hospital. She is the daughter of the Edgar Montgomerys, who make their home at 7493 McNell Way, Buena Park. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludvik Debevec of 117 E. Sycamore, Anaheim. He is a graduate of Anaheim High School, Orange Coast College, and has served two years in the Army. He presently is draftsman with Giannini Controls Corporation at Santa Ana.
