Judge Thanked By Con For Trip Up The River
WICHITA, Kansas (UPI) — Robert Foree, 18, who is serving a robbery sentence of from 10 to 21 years at the Kansas State Reformatory in Hutchinson, has written a letter of appreciation to the man who sent him there.
Foree told district judge Clement Clark, who sentenced him:
"I wish to thank you for the on government surplus on tonight's episode, 8 p.m., Channel 11... Dick Foran and Don Wilson guest on Red Skellon's show as Freddie the Freeloader is invited to a Mothers Day party, 9:30 p.m., Channel 2."
HOLLYWOOD (UPI) — It's taken 30 years, but Tinsel Town has come up with a girl to fill Marlene Dietrich's hosiery.
She's May Britt, a lissome Swede who is starring in "The Blue Angel," a remake of the 1929 Dietrich epic complete with the same songs, costumes and sexy accent.
May (pronounced "my") literally is filling la Dietrich's stockings, wearing the same black net hosiery that since has become Marlene's trademark. Off screen the 5 foot, 7 inch blonde beauty has the same aloof charm and throaty intimate voice.
"To play this role I must think about sex from morning to night," she proclaimed, "which is something I certainly don't do normally."
Wiggles A Lot
"My every movement must show off my sex appeal, so I wiggle as much as possible."
May, sitting in her dressing room, wore a skimpy costume consisting of white lace panties and a low cut top. Her long legs, encased in the black stockings are not as slender as Dietrich's, but that is quibbling.
Besides, she caught me looking.
"I am not trying to be another Marlene Dietrich," she said, sensing the comparison. "She's such a legend it would be silly to imitate."
"Swedish girls have tion for being sexier than of other nationalities," served. "That's because more frank about sex about it."
Pretend Moralite
"American girls pretend more moral, but they sex just as much — or sneaky about it. They pdoesn't exist."
"I don't think it is Scandinavian women more attractive than males. It's just that beautiful girls leave her side to brush her hair out of her eyes. She a shoulder strap on her." "I am so homesick and my family I am there as soon as I finish." she said. "I will live in Stockholm six year, but my husband law student Edwin wouldn't like it."

WICHITA, Kansas (UPI) — Robert Foree, 18, who is serving a robbery sentence of from 10 to 21 years at the Kaasas State Reformatory in Hutchinson, has written a letter of appreciation to the man who sent him there.
Foree told district judge Clement Clark, who sentenced him:
"I wish to thank you for the opportunity you have given me to make something of myself. I am sorry now that you didn't send me here when I first came to court. I truly feel now I would have been better off if you had.
"I am sure you don't get many letters thanking you for sending people up, but I would like for you to know how I feel about it. I really feel this is the best thing that ever happened to me. I know I will handle my life a lot differently after I get out."

"Swedish girls have a reputation for being sexier than women of other nationalities." May observed. "That's because we are more frank about sex. We talk about it.
Pretend Morality
"American girls pretend to be more moral, but they indulge in sex just as much — only they're sneaky about it. They pretend sex doesn't exist."
"I don't think it is true that Scandinavian women are any more attractive than other females. It's just that our most beautiful girls leave the country."
May dipped her head to one side to brush her long, blonde hair out of her eyes. She adjusted a shoulder strap on her blouse.
"I am so homesick for Sweden and my family I am returning there as soon as I finish the picture," she said. "I would like to live in Stockholm six months a year, but my husband (Stanford law student Edwin Gregson) wouldn't like it."
Her role in "The Blue Angel" is May's first starring role at 20th Century-Fox, for whom she also appeared in "The Young Lions" and "The Hunters" in minor roles.

SMALL TALK
in the PATIO
by—ROY L. KIRK
Hi Gardeners! Nice summer weather isn't it? And time to think about gardening. No other hobby pays off more than gardening, watching plants grow and mature and bloom more than justify the efforts and care. Besides, gardening is very relaxing. And today we have the best in tools and supplies to help you with your hobbies. Watch "Gordon's Garden Club" on "T.V." on Sundays from 1 to 1:30, and join his garden club at Kirk's Nursery every third Thursday of the month, in the evening from 8 to 10 p.m.
Roses are an array of color right now.
Keep the aphis down and watch for mildew. Spray or dust! This should be done at least once a week. Some thrip are showing up too. Aphis and thrip distort the buds and fade the flowers, some buds won't even open. That little rain gave you an idea how the snails and slugs were, keep after them too. Water lawns, trees and shrubs regularly and deep. The rains were light and now that things are starting to grow, they need water. Fertilize dichondra and all lawns now. Plant Tuberous Begonias now. The seedling plants are available at this time. Fuchsias are ready too. Plant now and keep them pinched back for nice bushy plants later.
See you next week.

Doctors later said his condition was good.
Grover was spearfishing with a group about one mile off Panama City beach when the shark struck.

Yorba Traffic Controls Approved by County
By Orange County News Service
Additional traffic controls at three Yorba Linda intersections have been recommended by the county traffic committee to the Board of Supervisors.
The committee, which serves in an advisory capacity, is composed of representatives of the State Highway Department, the County Road Department, the California Highway Patrol, and the Automobile Club of Southern California.
Following are the committee's recommendation for Yorba Linda:
—Replace the existing "yield" sign with a stop sign controlling westbound traffic on Yorba Linda Blvd., at Linda Vista St.
—Establish a parking zone for a 100 feet on the north side of Lemon St., beginning just west of Valencia Ave. This control was suggested by Paul E. Hamel, secretary of the Yorba Linda Volunteers Department.
—Install cross road signs on Citrus Ave., east and west of Eureka Ave. This was suggested to the traffic committee by Richard B. Dozier, 4242 Eureka Ave., Yorba Linda.

Brown Opposes Holding Youths In County Jails
SACRAMENTO (UPI) — The California Youth Authority is taking steps to eliminate the waiting period in county jails for young men committed to state institutions by courts.
