Mexico Firm Merges With Kaiser Aluminum OAKLAND (UPI) — Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. announced Tuesday that its stockholders have voted approval of a merger with Mexico Refractories Co. of Mexico, Mo. Mexico will operate as a division of Kaiser Chemical Division, the company said. Graph when issued. Pep Boys Business Meet To Be Held In LA Soon More than 350 employees of the Pep Boys, Manny, Moe and Jack Auto Supply Stores will convene Sunday, April 26 at Rodger Young Auditorium in Los Angeles for their 27th Annual Sales Conference. Siegler Announces Mobile Trailer Pact John G. Brooks, president of the Siegler Corp., announced receipt of a new contract totaling almost one-half million dollars by the Hallamore Electronics Division for modification of special mobile test trailers for Convair's Atlas missile program. Originally constructed by Hallamore in 1956, eleven such vehicles are involved in the work contract to revise and provide new electronic test equipment to handle today's version of the Atlas. According to Brooks, "The present Atlas ballistics weapon presents a much more complicated picture, as regards test procedures, than the previous models. This modification also includes installation of newly developed equipment to check-out, monitor and analyze pre-flight and in-flight telemetered information to meet Convair specifications." Western High Key Club Gets Group’s Charter The weekly meeting of the Kiwanis Breakfast Club of Southwest Anaheim was held this morning at 7:30 in the Gourmet Restaurant of the Disneyland Hotel. A presentation of the National Key Club Charter was made by District Lt. Governor Clyde L. Nickle, Anaheim, to Mike Meldau, President of the Western High School Key Club. The 29 charter members of the club attended the breakfast as guests of the Kiwanis Club of Southwest anaheim. New officers of the club are Mike Meldau, president; Dick Steenbergen, vice-president, and Leroy McNutt, secretary-treasurer. Western High School's faculty advisor is Ken McKee. Guest speaker at the event was Arthur "Red" Patterson, Publicity Director of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Patterson has been affiliated with eight pennant winning clubs, seven of whom became world champions. Patterson lives in Fullerton's Sunny Hills area. Program Chairman for the day was Dr. William C. Ross, Santa Ana. Dr. William K. Friend, pediatrician, and Dr. Robert E. Ball, cardiac specialist, will address the group. Later during the discussion period, they will answer questions. Formation of this group, for the purpose of learning more about diabetes and how to live comfortably with it, is being spearheaded by Mrs. Herbert Michel of Santa Ana and Mrs. Vernel P. Holmberg of Orange. The women stated that the group will not solicit funds nor conduct any fund raising activities. Those in charge hope to develop the organization to a point where they will be able to obtain top level professional experts, doctors and dietitians, to address the forums. Anaheim Man Joins Kwikset Sales Staff Jay Harris, formerly Customer Relations representative with Kwikset Sales and Service Company of Anaheim, has recently joined the sales force, covering part of metropolitan Los Angeles and the southern part of California from Los Angeles to the Mexican border. Harris is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. Prior to this, he spent four years in the Air Force as an electronics instructor, and saw service in Korea. Anaheim Built Crimes Stage Leon Albert Landry, confessed burglar apprehended Santa Ana police early morning, has admitted to police that he committed glaries in this city during six months. Landry, who live at 630 Mont St., broke down fenced after Santa Ana poisoned by burglary of the Towns Neering Company, 804 M while he was in the stage drunk charge. Sales Representative Appointment Announced Patrick Mulcahy has recently joined the Kwikset Sales and Service Company as sales representative serving the Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and North and South Dakota territory. Mulcahy comes to the Kwikset organization with considerable background and experience in the builders' hardware field, having been a manufacturer's representative for the past three years. Habra Woman Files Suit For Truck-Car Collision SANTA ANA (OCNS) — A $35,000 personal injury suit has been filed here by Doris Stebbins, 1731 Lindauer St., La Habra, as the result of a Feb. 27 traffic collision at Magnolia St., and Orangewood Ave. Injuries are claimed by Mrs. Stebbins and her passenger, eight-year-old Mark Carlson. The suit asks payment of a $5608 balance on an $18,076 account. Siegler Awarded Army Signal Corps Contract FORT MONMOUTH, N.J. — An Army Signal Corps contract for $39,278 has been awarded to the Siegler Corp., Hallamore Electronic Company Division, 714 North Brookhurst Ave., it was announced today by the U. Anaheim Burglar Tells Police Of Crimes Staged Throughout City Leon Albert Landry, 31-year-old confessed burglar apprehended by Santa Ana police early Tuesday morning, has admitted to Anaheim police that he committed 21 burglaries in this city during the last six months. Landry, who live at 629 W. Vermont St., broke down and confessed after Santa Ana police questioned him regarding an attempted burglary of the Townsend Engineering Company, 804 McClay St., while he was in the station on a drunk charge. Landry told Anaheim Police Detective Clarence Johnson that he committed most of his crimes while at least slightly under the influence of alcohol. Most of his loot was in the form of cash, although police yesterday recovered a radio and electric shaver at his home. The main targets were medical centers, although he also hit small retailers and the Anaheim J. C. Penney store. At that time, he waited in the basement until the store was empty, then looked for money. Unable to find any, he found he could not break out of the building. He pent a nervous two hours before he finally managed to escape. Landry used the same technique on the Weber Book Store, 139-141 W. Center St. In that crime, heransacked the basement safe and made off with $10. Other establishments robbed by the daring burglar were: The Automobile Club of Southern California, which he hit on October 14, 1958, and again on March 21, 1950; the Center Furniture Store, 337 E. Center St., on December 14, and 25, for a total of $72; the Physician's and Surgeon's Credit Exchange in the California Bank Building on March 31, 1959; the Parker Detective Agency, same building; the Medical and Dental Clinic, 919 E. Landry preyed primarily upon medical centers, he told police heFalse Arrest Suit Filed Against Sheriff Musick (OCNS) — A Huntington Beach man who claims he was illegally arrested, has filed a $25,000 suit against Sheriff James Musick and investigator Frank Dean of the Juvenile Department. Alexander C. Crossman, 5126 Dunbar, who was arrested May 20 of last year at his home, alleges he was held five days in jail and was refused information as to the charges or taken before a proper court. He was booked on seven felony counts, but despite his request, he was never presented with the written charges. He complains. The plaintiff also alleges the arrest was made without a search warrant. A written complaint charging him with vagrancy and battery was finally filed two weeks after his arrest, he states in the suit. LA Woman Gets $634 In Anaheim Damage Suit SANTA ANA (OCNS) — A Superior Court jury yesterday afternoon reached a verdict in favor of a woman suing owners of the Palms Restaurant in Anaheim. Dorothy Williams of Los Angeles will receive $634 for injuries she received at the Palms Feb. 28 of last year. The woman claims she slipped and fell in the parking lot of the establishment. The plaintiff had asked for damages of $10,000. The case was heard in the court of Superior Judge Raymond Thompson, and began Monday. The verdict was against Jack and Dorothy Dutton. Gorin Given Continuance In Ogle Extortion Trial SANTA ANA (OCNS) — Catalina Island business man Nate Gorin, yesterday got a continuance in his Santa Ana-Orange Municipal Court preliminary hearing on an attempted extortion charge. The new hearing date: 10 a.m. May 6. The District Attorney's office has moved Gorin be held to answer for the alleged crime in higher court. Gorin got a continuance two weeks ago to enable his attorney to be on hand for proceedings today. Gorin is accused of attempting to extort $2,500 from Orange County Counsel Joel Ogle. Church of God OK'd In Anaheim by County SANTA ANA (OCNS) — County planners took under submission a zoning variance application of an Anaheim church that apparently has been operating "out of zone" for 195 years. The applicant is the Church of God, situated on the east side of Webster St., a quarter mile south of Orange Ave. Spokesmen for the church said it is now in operation. The site is zoned for agricultural use. The congregation is seeking a conditional use permit "to establish a church."
