Candidates for positions on the boards of Fulerton Union High School and Junior College will also be on the ballot. According to a report submitted recently by Superintendent Jerome Edwards, next year’s budget for the operation of Yorba Linda’s present school and the new Plumosa Ave. School will have an estimated shortage of $33,950. This, he said, will be due to the hiring of three additional teachers, one new clerk, nominal raises for the present 21 employees and the added maintenance, supplies, and equipment costs for the new school. The proposed 50-cent over-ride tax will increase the anticipated operating funds by an estimated $34,107. The present tax for the elementary school is .99 plus .22 for bonded indebtedness. Centralia District Scheduled Kindergarten Round-Up May 4-5 Each year in May, Centralia School district launches into an important operation which has been dubbed “Kindergarten Round-up.” Parents of children who will be eligible to start school in the fall are urged to register at a school in the district nearest their homes. A rough estimate places the number of beginners who are expected to be housed in classrooms next September at the 1000 mark. Glen H. Dysinger, Sr., district superintendent, opines that enough emphasis cannot be given registration of kindergarteners who already live in the district. The round-up is slated for May 4 and 5 with an introduction to kindergarten, or “orientation meeting,” on May 6. The district will need to know how to plan for teachers, Dysinger points out, without placing a burden on administrators when school opens next school year. Kindergartens in California are not compulsory under law, but Centralia district desires to house as many as are eligible to attend, the superintendent said, and avoid long waiting lists which result when the number of enrollees is not accurately determined. Members of PTA’s in each of the schools will assist in the registra-tion. Birth certificates or valid evidence of the child’s such as doctor or hospital records will be required, and only those birthdays occur on or before December 1, 1954, are eligible for a child shall be four years nine months on or before September 1. At the orientation meeting Wednesday afternoon, Ma-youngsters will visit a kindergarten room while adults are bined in district policies and pures.
