A coffee honoring Mrs. Burt Woestemeyer, was given by Mrs. Dale Rake last Wednesday morning at her home on El Cajon. Mrs. Woestemeyer and her husband are newcomers to Yorba Linda, having moved here from Topeka, Kan. Guests included Mimes. Birke Luckenbill, Hugh McColl, Robert Gross, Jack Yale, Al Cleveland, Bill Clary, Jarvis Brown, Paul Foss, Burt Chambers, James Griffin and Harold Van Patten, Jr. Guests at Kenny Quinn's birthday party last Friday afternoon relished the refreshments that were served by Mrs. Don Quinn after they had encountered a prepared obstacle course and participated in a bobble blowing contest, relays and sack races. Helping to celebrate Kenny's ninth birthday anniversary were John Sexton, John Bauman, Stuart Paul, Shannon Van Patten, Rusty DeShields, Mike Marshburn, Bobby Cudeck, John Miller, Richie Nicholson, Gail Wagner, Wendell Iwatsuru and Malcolm Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Rake entertained friends from Salina, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Harris and their three children during the past week end. The Harris', who are headed for Bankok, Thailand, spent several days shopping for items they would need during their lengthy stay abroad. Don Anderson, new executive secretary of the Orange County Republican Central Committee, will meet with the Yorba Linda Republican Assembly next Thursday night at the Woman's Clubhouse. The meeting will start at 7:30. Anderson will report on what Mannequins to Model For Fashion Shows GARDEN GROVE — The Mannequin Section of the Woman's Civic Club of Garden Grove met recently at the clubhouse at 8:00 p.m. Refreshment committee consisted of Mimes. Donald D. Heydlaugg, Jerome Browne and Harry S. Brissenden. Members of the section were chosen to model for the fashion shows to be staged by the Garden Grove Cooperative Nurseries on April 26th, and for the YWCA fashion show on May 3rd. Election of officers will be held at the next monthly meeting, May 13th. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Foster journeyed to Camp Pendleton last Wednesday afternoon to attend the graduation of their son Merle from the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot. He was one of six in his platoon to receive his stripe as Private First Class. The Reverend Paul Shugart, pastor of the Yorba Linda Friends Church, was the guest speaker at the Pastor's Alliance of the Kansas Yearly Meeting of Friends this week in Springfield, Colorado. Yorba Linda Cub Scouts will hold their April Pack meeting next Thursday evening at the school auditorium with the theme, "Down on the Farm" being carried out in a unique rendition by Den 1. The program will also include a graduation for the first Webelo Cubs going into scouting this year. The meeting will begin promptly at 7 p.m. and according to Cubmaster Jack Yale, achievement awards, games, exhibits and a new Donald Duck film on safety will complete the program. Full size cabinet ... $197 Children Study About Hopi Indians Hopi Indian culture is being studied in Mrs. Lucille Kvam's third grade at Buena Terra school in Centralia School district in a unit on Southwest Indian lore. Pupils were fascinated when they were given an opportunity recently to study "first hand once removed" the customs and artifacts of the Hopi tribe. All three third grades at Buena Terra were invited to the auditorium to listen to Mrs. Robert Rummel, a resident in Centralia School district. She showed a large collection of articles used or sold by the Hopi Indians. Mrs. Rummel began to collect dolls when she was a teacher to preschool youngsters to help imprint them in the lore of the American Indian. She and her husband became so engrossed in the study themselves that Indian lore has become a full-time hobby over the past five years. The couple found that one of the best ways to help the Indian is to buy his product. They have built up an amazing collection. Mrs. Rummel's husband travels a good deal throughout several southwestern states in his business. He never fails to bring home at least one authentic article, she said, to add to the growing display. Children were particularly interested in the toys, musical instruments and crude utensils and tools which are used every day among Hopi families.
