J. Herbert Hall Jewellers Annual High School Table Setting Contest, Display Opened Monday
J. Herbert Hall Company, Jewelers, 451 N. Loara St. at Broadway-Orange County Shopping Center, Anaheim, today announces the opening of its second annual high school tablesetting contest for 11th grade girls throughout the area, according to Helmut Lubke, local manager of the firm.
Tables will remain on display in the store through Saturday. The public, as well as the students, faculty and parents, are invited to drop in and vote for their favorite table. This voting ensures impartiality.
Points to bear in mind are correctness, beauty of coordination of table-appointments, and originality of theme. Final decision of

Six schools and 18 girls are participating in the five-day event. Schools represented are Anaheim Union High School, Western High School, Fullerton High School, Garden Grove High School, Marywood Catholic School and Valencia High School.
First prize will again be $100; second,$30, and third,$25. Another $25.00 will be awarded the popular vote table, and consolation prizes of Emily Post's revised "Book of Etiquette" will go to fourth, fifth and sixth places. All cash prizes go to class funds.
Class participants, limited to one chairman and two assistants, with, of course, no adult help, may select flowers from Wayne's For Flowers, linens from the Broadway Anaheim, Broadway-Orange County Shopping Center, and fine china, silver and crystal from J. Herbert Hall Jewellers, also in the Broadway-Orange County Shopping Center.
Judges awarding the prizes Saturday at 2 p.m. at the store will be Mrs. B. F. Coupland, president of the Ebell Club of Anaheim; Mrs. Edgar F. Elfstrom, Assistance League of Fullerton; and Mrs. William R. LeVecke, Assistance League of Anaheim.

Students at Long Beach State College will construct a 24-building boom town reminiscent of Gold Rush Days for their 49er Day, Spring fund day, Friday.
The lower college campus will be transformed into "Pete's Gulch" for the carnival which starts with the dismissal of classes at noon and ends with a costume dance in the college cafeteria.
Winners of competition for the roles of Lotta Crabtree and Black Bart, legendary California figures, will be announced at the start of the day-long program and the two will reign over the celebration.

Open House at St. Vincent’s Seminary Set
A public invitation to an open house and barbeque dinner was extended today by St. Vincent’s Seminary, 1105 Bluff Rd. in Montebello on May 24.
The affair, sponsored by the Montebello Council No. 3429 of the Knights of Columbus and the “Friends of St. Vincent’s,” will give the public an opportunity to tour the grounds of the Seminary and to visit with seminarians themselves, who will serve as guildes.
The Seminary is located on 14 acres of land donated to the Vincentian Fathers by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Pansini. It is situated on Bluff Road, two blocks south of Washington Blvd., and about six blocks west of Rosemead Blvd.
The Seminary, now in its fifth year of operation, consists of two dormitories, a chapel, classroom building, administration building, gymnasium, and a convent for the Sisters.
The dinner, prepared by Bill Littleton and Earl Hunt, will be board growing contest will be announced—and shaved by LBSC coeds, and the junior class will stage a tricycle derby.
Entertainment will include skits by student groups and the appearance of the Lancers, popular vocal group, and a chuck wagon-style dinner will be served early in the evening.
FIRST TICKET — Albert Launer, Fullerton attorney, receives the first breakfast ticket to the Fullerton Junior College Business Education Day program to be held on Wednesday. Approximately 400 students from the college, seniors from neighboring high schools and local business will attend. Presenting the ticket are FJC students Lois Arbogast and Orville Machmil.

Students of Fullerton JC, local businessmen, and a group of high school seniors from nearby high schools will really “get down to business” on Wednesday as the college Business Education division holds its annual Business Education Day program. Approximate-ly 400 participants will join program.
After breakfast more students will present a presentation of awards to outstandingness education students.

County Groups to Participate in Bullock’s Table Setting Contest
First annual table setting contest for Women’s Service clubs of Orange County is being judged this week (closing Saturday) at Bullock’s Fashion Square, Santa Ana, third floor galleria.
Theme of the affair is “Tables Set to Music” with 14 organizations competing. They are:
Assistance League of Anaheim, Assistance League of Santa Ana, Daughters of The American Revolution, Hoag Memorial Hospital Guild, National Charity League of Newport Beach, Native Daughters of the Golden West.
Orange County Bar Association Auxiliary, Santa Ana Business and Professional Women, Santa Ana Community Hospital Auxiliary, Santa Ana Soroptimist Club, St. Joseph Hospital Guild, St. Jude’s Hospital Guild, The Hemophilia Foundation, The Women’s Auxiliary of The South Coast Community Hospital.
“Tables Set to Music” name titles are: When I Take My Sugar to Tea, Sweet Sixteen, Deep Purple, In a Chinese Temple Garden, Hawaiian Wedding Song, Romantic Rendezvous, Hawaii Calls, Ball HI, Sailing, Holiday for Strings, April Showers, Alvin’s Harmonica, Little Brown Jug, God Bless America.
Mayor of Santa Ana, Dale Heinly, and Robert B. Wright, president of the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, will count ballots. Substantial awards to designated charities of winning organizations will be presented.

Anaheim Coed Given Costume Design Post
Shirley Jamison of Anaheim, a junior at the College of the Holy Names, is designing the costumes for “The Learned Ladies,” an amusing comedy of manners by Molliere, to be presented by the “Masquers.” Student body drama group, on April 23, 24 and 25 at 8:30 p.m. on the campus, as announced by Robert Fahrner, director.
Miss Jamison is a talented English-drama major and, by diligent research into paintings and tapestries of the 17th Century, she has abstracted the essential elements of the period’s styling.
After breakfast merger students will present a tion show, followed by tion of awards to outstanding education students.
