National Merit Scholarship Tests Planned
More than 60 students at the Anaheim High School plan to take the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, L. Frank Kellogg, Principal, announced today. The test will be administered at the high school at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, J. Mason Henry, Guidance Director.
The test is the first step in competition for Merit Scholarships provided by some 90 corporations, foundations, professional societies and individuals, as well as by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation itself. Some $15 million in Merit Scholarships has been awarded in the first four years of the program.
The number of scholarships awarded in any year depends upon the extent of sponsor participation. The basic continuing program is for $1,000,000 a year (for 10 annual programs). In addition, sponsor participation this year is expected to add about two million dollars more in sponsored Merit Scholarships. It is estimated that various outside-the-program sources will increase the present amounts offered to high scoring students by several million dollars.
The National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a three-hour measure of educational development and college aptitude. Emphasis is on broad intellectual skills, and on understanding and ability to use what has been learned, rather than on sheer knowledge of facts.
Some 10,000 semifinalists, the highest scorers in each state, will
All Republicans Asked to Support Party Building
In striking contrast to the Big Labor method of financing the Democrat party, rank and file Republicans in Orange County will be asked next week to become contributing members of their party. It was announced today by Robert Hell, chairman of the county "Building for '60 Committee."
"Republican precinct workers will be going from door to door seeking a dollar from every Republican family in the county," Hell declared, "convinced of the propriety of financing our political activities by raising funds from the masses of our citizens rather than becoming obligated to special interest groups. Recent statistics on campaign expenditures released from Washington disclosing that well over 50 per cent. of all campaign funds received by the Democratic party in 1968 came from Big Labor are indeed shocking to all thinking Americans."
"Our kind of fund raising," the Santa Ana farmer and Republican leader went on, "is a continuation of a campaign begun last year by the American Heritage Foundation to interest all citizens to contribute to the party of their choice. Asking each Republican family to become a contributing member to the Republican party of Orange County will help to increase their interest in the political affairs of our state and nation, resulting in better informed citizens and ultimately better government for all.

Announce Way To Help
Drain All 8 Sinus Cavities
Without Discomfort
New decongestant tablet for sinus congestion sufferers acts both to drain clogged sinus cavities and relieve distressing head pain.
New York, N.Y. (Special) Announcement has been made of a new tablet development which has the remarkable ability to help drain clogged sinus cavities and thus relieve congestion and pressure. The headaches, pressure pains, stuffed-up head, nasal drip, clogged breathing—all the unrelenting symptoms the sinus sufferer knows so well—are attacked directly by improving drainage of the sinus areas.
Most remarkable of all is the fact that this is accomplished with extraordinary speed and without discomfort of any kind. This new tablet does its remarkable work internally, through the blood stream. It deposits into every drop of blood plasma a new medication which is carried to the sinus area, where it shrinks the swollen doors to the sinus cavities and helps drain away the pain-causing pressure and congestion.
The shrinking substance in this new tablet has been so successful topically in promoting drainage of the sinus cavities that it is now prescribed more widely by doctors than any material for this purpose. This new medication is now available at drug counters without the need for a prescription under the name, Dristan® Decongestant Tablets. Dristan Tablets cost only 984 for a bottle of 24 tablets. Buy and use-Dristan Tablets with the absolute guarantee that they will drain away pain-causing pressure and congestion of the sinus cavities, relieve the pain and distress, or purchase price will be refunded.
