QUEEN CONTESTANTS INTRODUCED — Five aspirants for the title of Queen of the St. Pius V Flesta were introduced recently by the prominent movie, radio and TV personality Art Baker when he appeared at Anaheim's WonderBowl. The Flesta celebrating St. Pius V Church's 10th anniversary will run from May 20 until June 7 when the queen will be crowned. Name: Address: City: Zone: State: Art Baker Introduces St. Pius Queen Candidates BUENA PARK — Genial Art Baker, well-known radio, TV and screen personality, gave a royal reception to the queen candidates for the coming St. Pius V Fiesta. The queens were found, not in a castle on the Thames, but in the "WonderBowl" in Anaheim where Baker introduced them on his live TV show for KTLA. Baker interviewed Mrs. Betty Castricone, queen chairman, and through her learned that the festivities are in celebration of the 10th anniversary of St. Pius V Church in Buena Park. Baker commented upon the details of the Fiesta and announced that he was always delighted to have guests from the fast-growing city of Buena Park. He stated that Walter Knott, the backbone of the community, never ceased to amaze him, and that despite Knott's great success, he has remained the plain farmer who is loved and respected by all. The camera was focused upon the five queen candidates who were gowned in formalis, and he expressed the hope that he and the "WonderBowl" might, in their small way, have been able to assist them with their campaign. He thanked the queen candidates and Mrs. Castricone for extending him an invitation to the Fiesta and for the honor of presenting them on TV. The five candidates vieing for the honor of reigning over the Fiesta are: Marilyn Smith, Barbara Legari, Carol Zamora, Irene Correia, and Bernadine Brady. Visits to many interesting spots are being planned for the girls in connection with their campaign. Their agenda tentatively includes Knott's Berry Farm, Disneyland, and Marineland. The Presentation Ball is to be held on May 30 at the Retail Clerk's Union Hall at the corner of Stanton and Crescent in Buena Park. At this time, all the queen candidates will be presented. June 5 through 7th will be the Fiesta Days, with the final crowning of the Queen to take place June 7. The pastor of St. Pius V is Rev. Frederick J. Kass, Father John Feeney, assistant pastor, has been assigned the post as head director of the Fiesta. Choral Festival Set For Friday at FUHS FULLERTON — Some 1500 Southern California high school students will meet on the Fullerton Union High School campus from 2 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow for the Annual Southern California Choral Festival, according to Festival Chairman George W. Burt, FUHS music instructor. Afternoon activities of the Festival will include the presentation of eight girls' choruses and one boys' chorus. Mixed choruses will sing in the evening. Burt said, Fullerton Union High School groups which will participate in the festival are the concert choir, the girls' advanced chorus, the freshman girls' chorus, and the boys' chorus. The 100 voice San Mateo High School concert choir will be the guest visiting group from Southern California. Also participating will be the La Habra High School A Cappella Choir, the Corona girls' chorus, and groups from El Segundo, Whittier, Rancho Alamitos High School in Garden Grove, Torrance High School, Marshall High School in Los Angeles, Valley Christian High School in Artesia, and Arcadia High School.
