St. Boniface Mothers’ Guild Meeting to Feature Speaker
Mrs. Marie de Vrahnos of one thousand blankets to Lourdes’ fame will be the guest speaker at the St. Boniface Mothers’ Guild meeting on April 16 at 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Vrahnos, whose article appeared in the Readers Digest, will tell of the trip she and her incurably ill husband made to the miraculous shrine of Lourdes. She will tell how her dying husbands’ promise to the Order of the Sisters of Nevers for 1000 blankets for the 1000 hospital beds, was fulfilled.
The husband was a chronic agnostic, but within two weeks after his arrival, a 13 year-old girl’s spiritual peace touched Pierre’s heart and changed his religious thinking.
Another one of Pierre’s experiences was at the end of his life when he met a young boy named John, who was suffering from a cancerous condition. Pierre prayed that God would take him, since he had had a full and long life, and restore this boy to health.
A few days later in Toulouse, Pierre entered an iron lung and took the vows of the Catholic church. Three days later on Dec. 1, 1956, he died.
Shortly before his wife left France, she learned that Pierre’s prayer for John had been answered. The boy returned home from Lourdes with all traces of the cancer gone and his hip healing rapidly.
All members are urged to attend to hear this inspiring person’s lecture. Past presidents will be honored and this meeting will also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Mothers’ Guild. A pot, luck luncheon will be served.
