Since leaving Arizona together last Friday, the Giants have clubbed Cleveland pitchers for 43 hits, including 10 homers, and have scored 23 runs in winning three straight games. Bill Rigney's fence-busters clobbered the Indians, 17-4, last Saturday at Salt Lake City and scored a 7-6 victory over their American League rivals at Denver Sunday. Their road show hit Topeka Monday and again the Giants ran wild — collecting five home runs on their way to an 11-inning 8-6 triumph. The Giants now have totaled 56 home runs in 29 exhibition warm-ups this spring to lead all major league teams. Most of those homers have come off harried Cleveland pitchers, who will be happy to bid the Giants farewell Wednesday when their tour ends at Omaha, Neb. Scholz was a member of last year's junior varsity squad at FSC. At Anaheim High School he was named All-League three years and most valuable player in both the league and the team one year. So far this season, the Bulldogs have won seven and lost three games against the toughest competition on the West Coast. After losing their opener to the University of California Bears, they shut out the Camp Pendleton Marines three games in a row, won two games from the same Cal squad that had beaten them earlier, and then split two game series with both San Jose State and the University of California at Los Angeles. Good Fishing Season Seen For Southland Area Anglers By Wally Taft Every week there are more indications that we are in for a very good season of deep sea fishing. Our Orange County coastline is now being invaded for the third time in a century with tiny red tuna crabs. This invasion means excitement to the marine biologists, but it also means even more to the anglers, who say the visit forcasts a good fishing season, especially for marlin. The bright red crabs, measuring only two to three inches in length, started arriving along the Southland coast last season. They are now thick along the coast and are breeding all along the coast very close to shore. Warm Current Fish Fish that are inclined to move in on warm currents, such as the bonita, barracudas, tuna and mackerel are having a feast on these tiny red tuna crabs. The appearance of the little lobster crabs means there'll be a good fishing season on major Southland fish except albacore. The much sought after longfin, which stays out in the colder currents, does not come close enough to shore to feed. The crabs resemble tiny lobsters with the tail clipped off, but with pincer claws. Although they are a delicacy to fish which feed on them in live waters, they are useless as bait. The reason they are not considered good for the anglers is because they do not move around.
