CUBS AT SPACE SHOW — Cubs of Pack 128 of Palm Lane School are shown posing with singer-actor Howard Keel at their recent visit at the Los Angeles Space Age Conference. Cub Pack 128 of Palm Lane School Attends Cub Pack 128 of Palm Lane School attended the recent Space Age Conference in Los Angeles as part of their March activities. Approximately 80 boys and their parents visited the show and posed for a photograph with actor Howard Keel. At the Pack's monthly meeting, the following awards were presented: wolf badge; Graig Fahhani, Lonnie Dahl; Gene Hooper, Harold Shirley, John Pyne, Dale Sima, Richard Schuster, Douglas Edwards and Richard Desrosiers; bear badge; Kenneth Heisner, Charles Blackburn, Tommy Miller; lion badge; Alan Wood, Charles Blackburn and Delbert Lippold. Boys receiving Gold Arrows were Dale Sima, Richard Shuster, Douglas Edwards, Charles Blackburn, Kennet Hesnner, Gene Hooper and Tommy Miller. More Stripes Assistant denner stripes went to Anaheim YMCA Square Dancing Course Set An invitation to enroll in a community square dancing instruction course at-the Anaheim YMCA beginning Thursday day evening. April 9, was extended by Ewald Dargatz, Circle "Y" Square Dance Club president. The 12 lesson course will cover basic fundamentals of square dancing and qualify participants to take part in dance clubs. Dargatz stated. The services of Herber Lesher, well-known Orange County Square Dance caller were secured. Registration information may be secured by calling the YMCA, KE. 5-216- Two Tours of Europe Set By CC Faculty Two tours of Europe vary in length of time, itinerary, cost, will be conducted this mer by members of the Chapel College faculty. Professor Guy M. Davis Jr., conduct the 68-day "Spanish Day" tour, which will include countries and will feature 21 in Portugal, Spain, and N Africa. Instructor Ronald M. Hunting and his wife will conduct the day "Economy Tour," which includes 14 European countries in itinerary. An optional two-day tension to East and West Berlin also available on either tour. Both tours begin with a ride from Los Angeles directly to Don. Dr. Davis's tour leaves June 24 and Huntington's on July 3. These were Patrick Pyne, Stephen Murr, Michael LeMay, Clarke Lamkins, Robert Hood, Claude Davis and Mike Himojosa. Den 7 led the opening ceremony and Den 4, a new den, won the attendance award. "The Way of Peace" is the theme of the meeting, which begins at 4 p.m. with a fellowship period in the Westminster room of McAulay Hall, First Presbyterian Church, Orange, at 191 N. Orange St. At 6 o'clock a pot-luck supper will be served. Each person should bring own table service and a dish of food to share with six persons. Hot drinks will be served. The singing at 7:15 p.m. will be led by Mildred McPheeters of Anaheim. At 7:45 p.m., the Peace Pilgrim speaks of "The Way of Peace." Peace is becoming a familiar figure in the country. She may be seen walking along the highway. She is a silver haired woman dressed in navy blue slacks and shirt and short tunic with pockets all around the bottom in which she carries her only worldly possessions. On the front of the tunic are the words "Peace Pilgrim" and on the back "Walking 25,000 Miles for World Peace." Long Trek She has walked more than half these miles. Her vow is "I shall remain a wanderer until mankind has learned the way of peace, walking until I am given shelter and fasting until I am given food." She is not affiliated with any organization. She speaks to individuals along the way, to gatherers such as church groups, college groups, through newspapers, magazines, radio, television—relating interesting and meaningful experiences, discussing peace within and without. Although she does not ask to see results, thousands of letters testify that her journey has not been in vain—saying in effect "Since talking with you I've decided that I should be doing something for peace also." Anyone interested will be welcomed to this C.F.O. meeting, Mrs. Laura R. Warren, chairman of the Orange County group said. Gale Wickwire, Laguna Beach, is general chairman of the meeting. Anaheim FJC Study Seventeen students from Anaheim were among 106 Fullerton Junior College persons named this week to the Alpha Gamma Sigma college honor society, for their work during the first semester. Alpha Gamma Sigma membership is restricted to students who post exemplary records of scholarship. The organization, originated on the FJC campus more than 25 years ago, now has chapters on virtually every junior college campus in the state of California. Students from thirteen neighboring cities are included on the honor roll. Cities represented are Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park, Ful... SIMBA — Popular "cat" about town, Simba, the pet ocelot of Mr. and Mrs. Art Mathews of this city bears out the facts in the new book on these animals, written by Catherine Casin. The book "Pet Ocelots" is now available at the Anaheim library. Ocelot Book Is Now at Library An unusual booklet entitled "Pet Ocelot" by Catherine Cisin was presented to the Anaheim Public Library this week, the first comprehensive book for persons interested in owning ocelots as pets as well as those wanting to learn more about one of the most exotic members of the great cat family. Ocelots are affectionate animals, growing tamer as they grow older and more accustomed to living among humans, the author states in effect. A case in point is "Simba," a 31-year-old cat belonging to Art Mathews of Anaheim and member of the Southern California Ocelot Club. Simba has been in Anaheim since he was 3-months-old, and is well known around this newspaper office, the City Hall and Police Department. He was a special guest at a Laguna Beach public school last year and has participated in five TV shows and several other shows and fairs. This Sunday, Simba and a group of his ocelot cousins will be seen on Channel 7 at 4 p.m. as part of the "Pet Life" program. The next big public showing of ocelots will be at the Long Beach Hobby Show May 8 to 11. Headquarters for the Southern California Ocelot Club is at the home of Art Mathews, 318 Wilken Way, Anaheim. Cinerama 'South Sea Draws Added Interest Since the announcement to Hawaii was to become U.S. state, the Cinerama treasurer's office has been besieged by letters and phone calls requesting information regarding what is featured in the new Cinerama South Sea Adventure production being presented at the Walt Hollywood Theatre depicting wonders and beauty of territory of Hawaii. Requests for this information come from persons who longed to visit the islands as as others who have toured wall and would like to relive experiences in the world far and romantic land. Cinerama South Seas Adventure takes audiences to Hawaii via SS Lurline. There is no charge. The course is designed to teach the skills of moderating a discussion to those who would like to start Great Books groups in their own neighborhoods. There are no academic requirements. Leaders do not teach but only ask questions. An ability to read the classics with understanding and a genuine interest in the ideas of others are the most important qualifications. Each session will be conducted like a regular Great Books group with discussions on such works as Plato's Apology, Machiavelli' The Prince, Sophocles' Antigone, and The Federalist Papers.
