Counter-Suit Wins $621 for Defendants
By Orange County News Service
Who's on first may have been the description of a personal injury case that came to a climax in Superior court this week.
A jury reached a decision in favor of the defendant in a $100,000 personal injury suit filed by a Long Beach family. The defendant had filed a cross-complaint against the plaintiffs for damages to his car, which he was awarded. Receiving the $621.50 was Julian Thomas Fusaro.
Plaintiffs in the case had been the Egidio Lugli family, including Luigi, his wife, Sabatina, daughter Goody Frangente, and a grand-daughter, Carol Ann Frangente, 14.
The accident occurred July 28, 1957 at Harbor Blvd. and Talbert. Each side had contended that the other was responsible.
In addition to the suit and cross-complaint, Luigi had filed a counter-suit asking for damages to his vehicle.
The jury retired at 3:30 p.m. Monday and finally returned with its verdict at 9:45 p.m.

Thirteen persons, including two Italian farmers on the ground, were injured here in the crash on takeoff of a Malta-based U.S. Navy transport.
A Navy spokesman identified the wife as Mrs. Virginia Ryder. The dead aboard the plane were her husband, Aviation Machinist Mate W.H. Ryder, and Capt. T.W. Hillis and Chief Petty Officer J.W. Schliekelman.
The spokesman said addresses of the dead and injured were not known here.

Classicist
LAWRENCE, Kansas (UPI) — Latin isn't a dead language for Dr. L. R. Lind, of Kansas University. In answer to a request from a woman in California, he re-
unemployed and looking for work.
Lete's Charlton Heston, star of $13,500,000 "The Ten Com-medments," and the 15 million-dollar "Ben Hur"—a grand total of $28,500,000 worth of celluloid.
Now's Heston going to top that?
The same question arose after published "Ten Commandments." Towering actor replied, "Then I gamed 'Ben Hur.' It's possi- another great role will crop with another brilliant director, such as William Wyler."
Heston seems destined to star super-colossal epics that overdow performances of the indi-ual actor. Audiences are so en-ssessed in pageantry there is lit-time for them to pay atten-ment to the actors.
Emphasis On Character
Perhaps that is why Chuck has ever been nominated for an ear.
He feels, however, sufficient emphasis was placed on the char-ter of Ben Hur that he will not lost in the welter of pomp and circumstance.
Court Awards Student

SANTA ANA (OCNS) — An ex-change student from Iran who claimed he was the victim of a terror campaign which was cli-laxed by a beating outside of a Santa Ana restaurant, has been awarded $1,000 in damages by Superior Court Judge Raymond Pomson.
Judge Thompson had taken the case under advisement and Tuesday rendered his decision.
The plaintiff in the personal in-try suit was 23-year-old Roy Monzeb, who attends Santa Ana Jun-College. The exchange student alleged that he was assaulted by Jerry Fellows, 24, of 2127 S. Shel-na St., Santa Ana, and Ralph S. Mitchell, who was killed in an automobile accident after the suit had been filed.
Fellows, the defendant in the civic-case, was also convicted of the assault charge in municipal court and served a jail term.
Monjazeb contended that Fel-ows and his friends conducted a terror campaign" at school, reatening him on several occa-ons.
