NEW YORK — Here in the area not at all startled when asked or on the street, and gives you "Hey," he'll say, "Wanta h! The man likely as not is a thing along the number. The girl mick has got him. It's about to get you.
Also unable to resist are businessmen all over town, who leave notes for their stenographer. "Call Jimmy, at JU 6-7020."
If you phone the first number you find yourself being yammered at by a recorded message from "Salt Water Fishing News Service."
"Hello-o ... Trizz Jimmy Stort art. Lemme tell you about this new picture. It's the story of a man who blah-blah-blah, plug-plug plug, and I hope you'll enjoy Thanks for calling! Plunk."

Some recorded phone messages deliver unusual service. In Boston for instance, there's a feminine watcher who gives the caller latest news and gossip from abroad.
At least two numbers in New York reward the caller with prayer or a spiritual message from a religious group. One of these ends up by asking you to pick the number on to your friend. Theaters have recorded, for phone callers, the times the show goes on; and in some towns brokely provide recorded market reports analyses.
The phone company has on sale an announcement and recording service which will answer your phone, tell the caller you're on...
