Master Highway Plan Given to State (Continued from Page 1) Its tremendous appeal, he said. Chester Warlow, also a commission member, brought chuckles from the more than 100 guests present last night when he said that the State Highway Division has a budget of $50 million and while on this year's tour, every county has presented its problems and each one feels it should get the entire $50 million. However, he went on, the funds have to be divided among the counties even though most of the counties could use the entire amount. "We ask your patience and help because we want your help in building California as it should be built," he said. This morning the commission were guests of the Brea Chamber of Commerce and made a trek through Brea Canyon to see first-hand the traffic conditions existing there and the route of the proposed Brea Canyon cut-off. This afternoon the group began its visit of Riverside county. Their annual state-wide tour concludes this weekend in San Diego. Many Attend Among the many introduced during the meeting not already mentioned, were Commissioners James Guthrie, Stephen Chase, Fred Spears, C. A. McGetty; J. L. Peterson, District No. 6, San Luis Obispo; engineer; Paul Harding, assistant engineer, Highway Division District No. 7-Orange and Los Angeles Counties; State Senator John Murdy; Cy Feath-rly, Heinz Kaiser, William Hirstein, members of the County Board of Supervisors; Harry Berg, County planning director; Admiral J. R. McKinney (Ret.) ex-chairman of the State Highway Commission; Lee Winterton, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce; Al Koch, County road commissioner; Ed Hawkins, Anaheim Chamber of Commerce highway committee chairman, and Ernie Moel- Student Denies Guilt As Girl's Body Found (Continued from Page 1) was shocked, but not surprised, on learing of his daughter's death. "We've been expecting it," he said. "We knew she wasn't the kind of girl who would run away." The shy, studious girl was the eldest of five children. She had three sisters, 12, 8 and 3, and a brother 10. Abbott first came under suspicion last Friday when his wife, Georgia, 32, found Stephanie's purse in the basement of their home. On the next day, police found buried in soft dirt of the basement her schoolbooks, notebook books and eyeglasses, as well as a brassiere. Abbott was also tentatively linked to her disappearance when he admitted that he drove through Franklin Canyon road the day before another of Stephanie's schoolbooks were found, apparently tossed out by a passing motorist. Submitting voluntarily to questioning and to a lie detector test, Abbott over and over again denied any connection with the case. He pointed out that his basements was used as a polling place recently and that 150 persons had access to it. Police were satisfied with Abbott's account of his movements before and after the day Stephanie disappeared, but not on the day itself. The lie detector test turned up "pertinent leads," but apparently nothing definite. The cabin near where her body was found has a grisly history. In 1948, it was inhabited by two men, Lloyd Snyder and Ray H. Latham. Synder shot Latham and dismembered his body with an axe, saw and a knife. Snyder is now serving a life term in San Quentin. Before he was sentenced, Snyder transferred title to the cabin to Robert Schorch of Alturas, Abbott's brother in law.
