Hit Opens
August 15
Announcement was made today by Joseph Justman that Jack Present and Harry Zevin, executive producers at the Carthay Circle Theater, have completed negotiations for four more Broadway hit plays which will be presented, for the first time in Los Angeles, at the Carthay Circle beginning Aug. 15.
Opening attraction of the new series will be "Latinics And Lovers," hilarious comedy by Sidney Kingsley which is currently in its 28th week on Broadway. Second in the series will be "King Of Hearts," a comedy hit of the past season which is about to be made into a film with Bob Hope and George Sanders. This play, written by Jean Kerr and Eleanor Brooke, opens for a four week run on Sept. 12.
October 10 will see the Pacific Coast premiere of "The Tender Trev," a romantic comedy which recently closed a lengthy Broadway run and is currently completing a road tour in Chicago. This Max Snulman-obert Paul Smith comedy is about to go before the cameras at MGM with Frank Sinatra and Debbie Reynolds in the ton roles.
The final production of the season, opening on Nov. 7, will be a dramatic hit which is currently doing record business on Broadway, the title of which cannot be announced at this time for contractual reasons.

PET SHOW DIGNITARIES—Petite Miss Ming, the Siamese kitten, one year old last Easter and the pet of Lynn Long walked off with sweepstake honors at the annual recreation pet show at the Anaheim City Park. Miss Genevieve, a four month old Dachshund belonging to Marilyn Mayberry, was rewarded with the grand sweepstakes. Tired from the heat Genevieve seemed little interested in photography. Both pets were beautifully marked and trained. (Bulletin photo)

Set Berkeley Meeting
top mathematicians from all over the world are gathered on the Berkeley campus of the University of California for the second day of the Third Berkeley Symposium on Mathematical-Statistics and Probability.
Probability theory will be the principal topic for discussion at half of the Symposium. During the first half, which was held in December, visiting mathematicians were concerned primarily with the application of statistics.
The Berkeley Symposia have become the world's best scholarly circles as unique opportunities to exchange new ideas in the field. These meetings, which are held every five years, are organized by the University's Mathematics Laboratory under the direction of Professor Jerzy Neyman. Both parts of 1955 Symposium are sponsored by the American Mathematical Society and are generously subsidized by the National Science Foundation, the Air Research and Development Command, the Office of Naval Research, and the Office of Ordnance Research.
Foreign visitors to the summer section of the Third Symposium are among the world's best scholars in the field. England, France, Switzerland, Algeria, Spain, and South Africa will be represented. Several scholars from the University of California and other American institutions will also deliver technical papers.
