PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE Home Teams Make Partisans Happy--L.A., To All home teams sent the fans home happy in the Pacific Coast League last night, especially in Los Angeles where the Angels swept a doubleheader from Oakland, 4-1 and 8-1. San Diego stretched its league-lead to three games with a 4-3 win over Poriland; Sacramento edged Seattle in the ninth inning, 3-2, and San Francisco cuffed Hollywood, 6-3. In Los Angeles, young George Piktuzis covered himself with glory in the seven-inning opener. The 23-year-old left hander allowed only two hits and then won his own game in the bottom of the seventh with a tie-breaking homer with two men on. Piktuzis (6-10) also fanned eight to boost his league lead to 114 strikeouts. The Angels staked Hy Cohen In Los Angeles, young George Piktuzis covered himself with glory in the seven-inning opener. The 23-year-old left hander allowed only two hits and then won his own game in the bottom of the seventh with a tie-breaking homer with two men on. Piktuzis (6-10) also fanned eight to boost his league lead to 114 strikeouts. The Angels staked Hy Cohen (3-5) to a 6-1 lead in the second inning of the nightcap. Buzz Clarkson's single with the bases loaded drove in two of the six runs of the inning off losen Georke Bamberger (6-10). Cohen yielded six hits. Federoff Scores San Diego's Earl Rapp broke up the game in the border city when he singled home Al Federoff after two were out in the bottom of the ninth inning. The blow broke up a pitching contest between Cal McLish (10-5) of the Pads and Royce Lint (4-8). McLish gave up seven hits, Lint 10. In Sacramento, the Solons came back in the bottom of the ninth to tie the score and win it. Tommy Glaviano doubled off the left field fence to drive in the tying run and Jerry Streeter banged a single to center to bring in Glaviano. Seattle had taken a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning when Bob Balena and Vern Stephens hit back-back homers off Bud Daley (12-10). Daley went all the way over the Sacs, giving up seven hits. Ewell Blackwell pitched for Seattle until the start of the ninth when Van Fletcher took over. Bill Kennedy hurt his arm in the seventh when he threw wild fielding Daley's bunt. San Francisco once again took advantage of Hollywood fielding lapses, scoring three unearned runs on four Twink errors. Anaheim Midgets Tip Garden Grove Six hits, nine bases on balls, and five Garden Grove errors produced twelve runs as the Anaheim Midgets defeated the Grovers 12-4 yesterday in a game played at La Palma Park. Although out-hit by the opposition, the locals only used twice and the steady pitching of B111 Bielefeld and Brad Harker was the eventual difference. Bielefeld twirled the first five frames. Benny Ramirez had a three run homer; and a two run single; Doh Grothe a two run triple for Anaheim.
