Hollywood Bowl To Honor Disney
Two of the most spectacular and entertaining concert events in the history of Hollywood Bowl will be presented tonight and Friday night, in the form of a musical tribute to Walt Disney.
There'll be a magical parade of beloved music and characters from the colorful Disney world of fantasy tonight.
Governor Knight, who is to be the very special guest at the Disneyland press day Sunday in Anaheim, will head the list of public officials greeting Walt Disney and to hear the tribute to be given this man whose creations in fantasy in the motion picture world has brought clean and wholesome entertainment to children and adults alike the world over.
Davy Crockett (Fess Parker) will be present in person, along with his sidekick, Buddy Ebsen, complete with coonskin caps, Kentucky rifles and buckskins. Both programs will start at 7:30 p.m. Tonight will be "Family Night" and thousands of families and groups are expected to come early, bringing their box lunches or picnics to seat in the picnic grounds or seating areas.
Scout Night, Friday
"Scout Night" on Friday, July 15 will see thousands of Boy and Girl Scouts (and "Brownies") and "Cubs") swarming into the Bowl-to see their Disney heroes and favorites, in addition to the regular concert-goers attending.
Conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra for both nights will be John Barnett, Bowl Music Director, Paul Smith, Sonny Burke and George Bruns.
Other standout soloists will include Cliff Edwards, Gloria Wood and the Mello Men; and the Roger Wagner Chorale will also perform. Narrators will be Holloway and Winston Hibler; Al White is choreographer. A full complement of ballet dancers will complete the dazzling spectacle.
Highlights will include: Overture from Disney Pictures; Suite from "The Living Desert"; Peter and the Wolf; Suite from the Vanishing Prairie; Songs from "Jiminy Cricket"; Selections from "Lady and the Tramp"; Cavalcade of Disney Characters; and Overture and Selections fro m"Davy Crockett".

Pops Concert
The Bowl's second "Pops" concert of the season Saturday night will be a spectacular Gershwin' Night program, with Carmen Dragon conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra. Featured soloist will be the celebrated Oscar Levant, pianist-reconteur who will play the immortal meledies of his old friend, George Gershwin.

Dwellers and non-farming areas of Orange County are in to participate along with culturalists in the plate display on the Orange County Fair, 9-14, according to A. H. Aghayan Directs Summer Stock

Two Vocational Nurses' Classes Planned at OCC
Instruction in vocational nursing will be expanded at Orange Coast college in the fall of 1955 because of the acute need of hospitals for more nurses, it has been announced by Dr. Basil H. Peterson, president.
Two classes for vocational nurses, rather than one as in former years, will be started, Dr. Peterson said. One of the classes will start Sept. 12 and will continue for the regular eleven months training period. The other class will start Oct. 15
Officials Educators Attend Workshops
Secondary school board members and administrators have reversed their usual procedure of providing classes for students and returned to school in varying educational workshops this week. Fullerton High and Junior College board members E. William Wylie and chairman Francis N. Laird, accompanied by John W. Mann, administrative assistant, attended with classes held in the evening only. This will allow women with daytime responsibilities to prepare themselves for nursing, Dr. Peterson noted.
