Mr. and Mrs. Earl William Pugh Jr.
Home From Honeymoon After Fourth of July
Entertaining their friends as Mr. and Mrs. Earl William Pugh Jr., will be this June bridal couple who will be at home later July 4. They recited their marriage vows in a double ceremony at St. Boniface Catholic church, the Rev. Father Anthony Duval, the efficient. The nuptials were read at ten o'clock in the morning with the bride, Therese (Terry) Marie Blaquiere, given in marriage by her father, S. Blaquiere who came south from Edam, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Attending the bride were Miss Marjorie Athman of Long Beach as maid of honor; Mrs. Joe C. Moody, Miss Garole Owston, both of Anaheim, and Miss Kay Tighe of Long Beach, as bridesmaids.
Best man was Joe C. Moody with ushering done by Ernest Owston, Jack Adams, all of Anaheim, and John Blaquiere, brother of the bride from Edam, Canada, the third usher.
Exquisite Gown
The bride was lovely in her floor length gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle with the bodice of the delicate lace, the sheer yoke designed with tiny fashion tucks and stand-up collar. Bands of lace accented the bouffant skirt worn over shimmering satin. A sculptured cap of hand-clipped Chantilly lace and pleated nylon tulle, outlined with tiny seed pearls and sequins, was the bride's headpiece to her veil and she carried a white-bound prayer book on which rested an orchid and stephanotis.
Attendants' gowns were created from crystallette and worn with matching jacket with the maid of honor's dress in the coral shade and bridesmaids in pale blue. They wore head-dresses of velvet, net and seed pearls, matching the color of their gowns. White and blue tinted flowers formed Miss Athman's bouquet while coral was the predominating shade in the bouquets for the other attendants.
"Ave Maria," "On This Day, Oh Beautiful Mother," "O God of Loveliness," and "The Lord's Prayer" were the nuptial solos sung by Jim De Mulle.
Mrs. Henri Blaquiere, aunt of the bride, representing the bride's mother who was unable to attend; the bride's father, and parents of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pugh of 149 North Lemon St. stood with the newly-weds at the reception at the Capilla de San Antonio.

REHEARSAL — "Milky Way" Tustin Playbox cast gives a final check on script and scenes for the opening of this comedy Tuesday night for two week run. In above scene (left and right seated) Stanley Mann, the meek 'fighting' Milkman; Sammie Craiker, in supporting role; (left to right back) Elizabeth Robbins, Anaheim; Sherwood Price, the fast talking fight manager, and Phil Moore, the middle-weight champ. In right photo: Mann (center) ducks the punch pitched by Moore with the connection made on Price, who later hits the floor. Femme star Elizabeth Robbins.
Open Hilarious Comedy Tuesday At Playbox
The second production of the Tustin Playbox, "Milky Way," is now in rehearsal, and gives every promise of being as hilarious as last season's favorite, "Petticoat Fever." "Milky Way" is the story of a timid milkman who accidently knocks out the world's middle-weight champion with resulting complications which all add up to an evening of fun and laughter for the audience. It opens July 5 for a two week run.
Sherwood Price, in his first appearance this season, will play the robe of the fast-talking fight manager. This popular young co-producer of Tustin Playbox was seen last season in "Petticoat Fever," "The Country Girl," and "Bell, Book, and Candle."
Stanley Mann, who plays the part of the meek milkman, will long be remembered by Playbox audiences for his hilarious portrayal of the preacher in last summer's "Petticoat Fever." Mann is a cousin of Marvin Kaplan, who plays "Alfred" on the TV "Meet Millie" show, which might indicate that his riotous flair for comedy is a family trait.
Elizabeth Robbins, Anaheim, also starring in "Milky Way," had her first season with the Playbox last summer.
The role of the middle-weight champion is played by Philip Moore, who was seen as the jilted husband in this season's first production, "Private Lives," and who had leading roles in all five of last season's productions.
Paul White, who was seen in "Brigadoon," two seasons ago; Sammie Craiker, who was the wilted wife in "Private Lives."
White Temple Methodist Church Starts New Sermons Dealing With Great Scriptures
A new summer sermon series on "Candles For The Darkness" will begin at White Temple Methodist church at both the 9 and 11 o'clock services Sunday morning. The series will deal with great passages of Scripture that have been used by Christian leaders for centuries as sources of strength and power in their hours of crisis.
"In our day," states the Rev. Frank E. Butterworth, pastor, "we find millions turning to cheap slogans and popular songs as affirmations of their faith, largely because they have failed to discover the inexhaustible resources of the Scriptures. Our forefathers knew these great passages, and the power in their lives came not from self-willed positive thinking but from the assurances of historical experience in memorized Biblical passages. Since memorization has gone out of style, many of us are clutching for straws to cling to. This series is to help to rediscover those great assurances."
Both services Sunday will convene in Fellowship hall, as the old sanctuary is now in the process of remodeling and enlarging, necessitating temporary worship in the new building for four months. The choirs will continue as usual, with the Youth choir singing at nine o'clock and the Temple choir at eleven. Marvin Fennema, minister of music, returns from his vacation this week.
St. Michael's Church Sets Summer Hours
Beginning Sunday through Sept. 11, the duplicate family services usually held at 9 and 10 a.m., will be combined into one service at 9:15. After a few minutes of prayer with their older groups the

'God' Christian Science Topic
The oneness and allness of God is the basic theme of the Sunday lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, Sunday. The subject of the sermon is "God."
References which will be read from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, declare, "God is one God, infinite and perfect, and cannot become finite and imperfect." "We shall obey and adore in proportion as we apprehend the divine nature and love Him understandingly, warring no more more the corporeality, but rejoicing in the affluence of our God."
This selection from Deuteronomy will be read from the King James Version of the Bible, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."
The golden text is from Psalms, "Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?"
