Fullerton Warns Violators of Sign Regulations
FULLERTON, (OCNS) — City Planners "dropped the axe" this week on tract developers who have been disregarding city sign regulations.
They took a strong stand on the problem of tract signs being erected before approval and they gave a construction company one week before criminal and civil court proceedings are started if offending signs are not removed.
The matter was brought to a head Wednesday when the first of four sign variance requests came up for action. Heftler Construction Co., Hollywood, asked for a variance allowing the placement of 12 advertising signs on the northeast corner of Chapman and Acacia avenues.
Three of the signs were considerably larger than the 250-square-foot maximum. Most of the signs have been up for several weeks. An executive of the construction company said he couldn't understand why Genser Sign Co., a sub-contractor, had erected the signs before approval.

STANTON — Lady Lions entertained their husbands and fun-filled men's night dinner cently, and the men reciprocated with a steak barbecue at Lewis E. Bartleson residence Garden Grove, Monday night. The latter event marked the last meeting of the men's club under the retiring officers.
With the pinning of a president's pin on Bartleson Arthur Nieblas formally over the club leadership presided over the brief business meeting which concerned mainly the final plans for the Independence Day dance to be held tomorrow, July 2, at the house.
Following the barbecue, a program of dancing and singing from the Four Arts Studio Garden Grove was present with Marinell Scoles introducing Beverly Trout and Jo-A Guthrie in several songs, and Larry Buckingham singing "You've Got to be a Foot Hero" for accompaniment dancers Clista Allen and Lin Lewis.

Another feature of the evening's entertainment was an exhibition of ballroom dancing, including the latest rhumba, saxophone, mambo and swing-steps dance team from the Bob R. Studio.
After their dinner, the Lady Lions entertained with humorous stunts and gags under direction of Mrs. Royal Martinez With the Lions planning a saturday event.

After their dinner, the Lilions entertained with humorous stunts and gags under direction of Mrs. Royal Martt With the Lilions planning a trip to Las Vegas in July laugh-provoking skit was presented by Mrs. Don Doane Mrs. Jim Howard; and a mathematical genius in the person Mrs. Pete Pruett really had men stumped. Music for the evening was presented by the young accordionists, Betty J Jedike, Mary Ann Jedike and Nancy Mizuguchi.
Hostesses for the ladies were meat-purchasers Calvin Terry, cooks, Morris Coolidge, Ray Binns, and Leo McBratney, and Lady Lloyd Mrs. C. C, Rube and Mrs. E. West Rutul for preparing salads and Mrs. Mura Muaroka for corations.

Preliminary casting for singers
and dancers to present “Bouchard Returns,” the annual pirate musical revue at the Orange County
Fair, will be conducted in the Feneture Exhibits Building on the Fairgrounds, Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday, July 6, 7, and 8 at 7:30 p.m.
Following the casting, in preparation for the premiere performance
on Aug. 8 and the regular Fair
run, Aug. 9-14. The premiere performance, in conjunction with the
formal preview of the Flower Show,
is sponsored by Soroptimist International of Santa Ana.

SEEK SINGERS, DANCER'S FOR FAIR'S Musical Revue
Preliminary casting for singers and dancers to present "Bouchard Returns," the annual pirate musical revue at the Orange County Fair, will be conducted in the Nature Exhibits Building on the Fairgrounds, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 6, 7, and 8 at 7:30 p.m.
Lee Ford, producer, Gordon Wheatley Jr., musical director, and Joyce Riemer, dance director and choreographer, will conduct the sessions which will determine the casting for the 1955 production.
More than 100 young people are sought to form the chorus and dancing ensemble, while many others will be needed for technical assignments connected with the show.
Any singer who has had school or church choir or other choral experience is eligible. Wheatley emphasized, while Miss Riemer points out that interest is essential for the dance routines, but previous dance experience is not necessary.
Rehearsals will begin immediately.

Junior Chamber Names Annual Frolic Chairman
SANTA ANA (OCNS) — The Santa Ana Junior Chamber of Commerce announced today that Bruce Sumner will head up the Santa Ana Annual Frolic this year. This decision came as the board of directors of the Santa Ana Junior Chamber approved his selection as chairman.
The frolic is the annual Christmas parade held in Santa Ana which marks officially the opening of the Christmas season. In recent years, the parade has been witnessed by in excess of 10,000 persons, and has grown to be the most attended single city-wide function in Santa Ana. The exact date and route of the parade, will be announced later according to Chairman Sumner. Sumner is an attorney in San-Ana, and also serves as a duty public defender.
