LAST MINUTE POINTERS — Stanton Little Leaguers seek professional pointers from Anaheim's Hal Gregg who Saturday was Grand Marshal of the community parade preceding the local league opener. Gregg who shared honors with Orange County's Sheriff James Musick, is a former pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and Oakland Oaks. The local big leaguer formally opened the season by throwing the first ball at the new Al Stock park, Cerritos and Hanson Road. KORN-HUSKER'S ENTRY — Stanton's community-wide parade Saturday featured entries from all local organizations including the very active Korn-Huskers 4-H Club. The event, which wound up a week of concerted effort on the part of Stanton League members readying for the local Little League opener, heralded the double header which kicked-off the first season of organized baseball for youngsters in the area. The National organization, of which the Stanton league is a participating member, was organized in an effort to help the "little fellow" become a part of the "Nation's pastime," and limits players to ages between 8 and 12 years. Korn-Huskers participating in the event Saturday were, left to right, Lynn Ann Pletz, Sharon Johnson and Freddie Stearns.

Supervisors Ban Tonsorial Shop
SANTA ANA—(OCNS) — County Board of Supervisors yesterday failed to override the recommendation and thereby denied a zoning variance requested by Mr. and Mrs. Lyman H. Booth in an A-L North Stanton area.
The Booths, through Attorney and Assemblyman Leroy Lyon, sought to establish a barber shop and beauty parlor on the northwest corner of Lincoln and Grand avenues in spite of the protests of 25 residents of the area.
The vote was 3-2 against the variance. Ralph J. McFadden moved to grant it and he wasacked by C. M. Featherly and Keinz Kaiser. Chairman Willis Farner and Willard Smith opposed.
Complaint of the neighbors was that they purchased the property in the belief that it was strictly residential. There were approximately 20 in the supervisors' hearing room to verbally back their side of the argument.
Lyon pointed out the uniqueness of the property and claimed property in the area would gain in value. Business was to have been put up in a garage used by the dividers for a real estate office.
The supervisors also acted thuson, the following variances:
Granted the Texas Company permission to erect two signs to advertise business at Northwest corner of Harbor Boulevard and Bolsa Avenue; approved a single-family dwelling with attached garage for the East side of Cherry Street approximately 140 feet north of 20th street, Westminster, R-4 district (Oyd Bain, the applicant); O.K.'d variances requested by George Achickas to permit the erection a one-family dwelling and deached garage at South Pacific Avenue, Garden Grove.
about 450 south of Lampson for five more years; gave the green light to Tietz Company request to erect temporary direction signs on northeast corner of Chapman Avenue and Euclid Avenue and west side of Harbor Boulevard about 155 feet north of Chapman Avenue, Garden Grove.
Granted Pacific Subdivision permission to erect a temporary real estate office on the southeast corner of Dale Street and Orangewood Avenue, Stanton.
