Professor Leaves for Thailand Trip Dr. Albert C. Pickerell, associate professor of journalism on the Berkeley campus, University of California, has been appointed a Pulbright lecturer in Thailand, for the 1954-55 academic year, Dean Morris A. Stewart, Pulbright adviser, announced recently. Dr. Pickerell will assist and advise in establishing a new school of journalism at the University of Moral and Political Sciences in Bangkok. In addition, he will teach a course in political science and conduct research. Audrey McBrian G Many parents in Anaheim remember the teacher of their boy or girl. Audrey McBrian Grupa, who married while a member of the Anaheim Elementary schools staff. Mrs. Grupa, who became the U. C. Professor Leaves for Thailand Trip Dr. Albert C. FULLERTON "FOLLOW THE REAL IT'S GREAT" Appeal of Rupp Dismissed by Court SAN FRANCISCO — The Ninth U.S. Court of Appeals today dismissed the death sentence appeal of William Francis Rupp, convicted of the rape-slaying of a 15-year-old baby-sitter. The dismissal came at the request of San Quentin Warden Harley O. Teets on grounds Rupp has not exhausted his California legal remedies, which he must do before appealing to the federal court. No execution date has been set for Rupp, who was sentenced to the gas chamber by Orange County Superior Judge Robert Gardner for murdering Ruby Ann Payne Aug. 8, 1952. Not much we can do about it but wait for even warmer weather and don't water carnations too heavily either, they like it a little on the dry side. The tomatoes are blighting quite a bit now. I believe it's also due to the weather. If plants are real bad, dig them out, being careful not to touch others, and discard them. I have seen a new plant planted in the place of one with blight and it will come along nicely. Actually, no one knows just what causes tomato blight, so keep them dusted with a good tomato dust, or sulphur is also good, and don't keep them too wet. Tomatoes will go after moisture so don't water. Keep after mildew on roses and also watch your lawn moths — They're both bad.
