Robertshaw-Fulton Tops Cal Research To Take Half-Game Lead Over Hornets
Robertshaw-Fulton stepped into first place by a half-game margin over the idle Kwikset Hornets by drubbing Cal Researchh, 11-2, in an Industrial League tussle at La Palma Park last night.
The Dixie Cuppers maintained their grip on third place with a 4-1 triumph over Alex Foods and Delco Remy defeated the Alpha Beta, 4-2, in a practice game.
Robertshaw-Fulton won its game with two big innings. They tallied six runs in the first and four in the fourth.
Dixie Cup came from behind with two runs in the fifth and another pair in the sixth. Jon Wright fired a five-hitter and fanned eight for the victors while Larry Macarey of Alex Foods allowed only four hits, but was the victim of poor support.

of miles in 44 states speaking before school and community groups.
Recently, her fans and friends
in Anaheim were surprised and
pleased to find that she was the star of the famous television program "This Is Your Life." At that
time all of the many interesting
and varied highlights of her life
were reviewed for her through the medium of pictures and by the presence on the program of friends and relatives who had helped to shape her career. Climax of the evening was the presentation to Miss Marble of a new car to take the place of the old one which has carried her on so many countless miles.
In tomorrow's clinic, Miss Marble will use players from the audience to demonstrate the different basic strokes which must be learned in tennis to have a well-rounded game. Questions from those attending will be answered; with suggestions made for problems in stroking and strategy which so often arise in the average game.
To show how all of these strokes would be used in actual competition, and to show the court strategy necessary to produce championship tennis, Miss Marble will team with Barry Ryan, Sunset League finalist in singles for 1954, to oppose Jean Williams and Floyd Baker, mixed doubles title holders in the Anaheim Championships, in an exhibition mixed doubles match.

PCL Starters Go Route in Five Games
By DON THACKREY
United Press Sports Writer
SAN FRANCISCO (UP) — The bull pens of the Pacific Coast League were generally good places for resting last night but the man who pushes the buttons to flash the error lights got a good workout.
In five games seven of the starting pitchers went the distance and there was a total of only four relief hurlers used.
There were, however, some 16 recorded errors with only two clubs playing an errorless game.
The Los Angeles Angels led in both departments by using two firemen and committing five errors in losing the second game of a doubleheader to Sacramento 9-3. The Cherubs won the opener 2-1 on Don Robertson's home run.
Seattle was close in the boot division with four of the things letting in three unearned runs as they lost to Hollywood 4-1. Portland lost lots of mileage — four unearned runs — on a single error as Oakland beat the Beavers 5-3.
San Diego topped San Francisco co 7-1 in the other game.
Marino Pieretti and John Pyecha went the distance in the first Solon-Angel game with Robertson's solo clout in the bottom of the seventh difference.
In the second contest shortstop Hank Nasternak made three Angel errors and catcher Al Evans two to let in four unearned lites.
Emil Patrick went the distance for the Solons and was backed by a 10-hit attack.
The Angels got the long ball again in the second contest with Robertson again hitting a solo blast and Bob Usher also clouting a bases-empty round tripper.
Bill Moisan got loss number six against no wins.
Red Munger bested Tommy Byrne in Seattle as the Rainler field made four bobbles to let three unearned scores across. Munger held the Suds to four scattered hits and walked in their only run. Byrne gave up eight safeties.
