TOM DANSON'S ... TV - RADIOLOGIC
MONDAY, JUNE 21—Too bad that some more new and fresh summer replacement shows aren't bowing in on the TV scene, instead of repeats of the regular shows. Fans of various top TV vehicles have already watched these episodes which, when repeated, only become boresome. Hatzoff to the "Studio One Sumer Theater!" This is a new, warm-weather replacement for the award-winning regular series, which is in its fourth season. Tonight, "Fandango At War Bonnet," will be presented at 7 o'clock over Channel 2 as their first offering. The drama is set against the ever-popular background of the old west. On the same channel at 8, Gracie Allen and George Burns do a repeat, as is true for the "Lucy" show at 9 p.m., TV viewers will be happy to know that the ever popular "Voice of Firestone" will be seen on Channel 7 at 8:30 p.m., and on your ABC radio network station at the same time. An interesting note is that each and every Monday, the program will be integrated into the regular motion picture schedule of N.York's Paramount Theater, where theater patrons can watch the rehearsal and actual broadcast of the program, after which, the regular film schedule will resume. Plans are in the offing for this feature to go on a national scale. (At least it's different!)
Following programs are compiled from reports provided by broadcasters. We assume no responsibility for last minute changes on their part. T.E.D.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN
THE DAYS passed, Mrs. Hurley took it for granted that her pants was acceptable to Joan and every morning she came hobbling stairs to the little apartment. When Joan's kitchen was tiled there was nothing for her to go down with her mother's law and help her in return. Cooperation, on the surface, amiable, but inwardly rebellious daily as she tried frightening to think of some kind of ending this routine. How that ful she was when a sudden emergency summoned Mrs. Hurley away for a day.
The older woman was not orally or systematically as Joan was that the latter found this helpful difficult. "Never mind that I leave it," Mrs. Hunter would say. "Oh, I'll take care of it later. I've got to get off my car while. Let's rest here and talk! Talk! Joan came to realize that was what Mrs. Hunter wanted. A receptive for her experiences, her feelings...

CHAPTER SIXTEEN
E DAYS passed. Mrs. Hunter it for granted that her plan acceptable to Joan and every thing she came hobbling up to the little apartment. Then Joan's kitchen was tidied, was nothing for her to do down with her mother-in-law help her in return. Her ration, on the surface, was but inwardly rebellion daily as she tried fruitless think of some kind of way ing this routine. How thank-e was when a sudden emer-ment summoned Mrs. Hunter for a day.
Holder woman was not order-systematic as Joan was, so the latter found this helping out. "Never mind that, Just it." Mrs. Hunter would say. Oh, I'll take care of that I've got to get off my feet. Let's rest here and talk."
Joan came to realize that was what Mrs. Hunter chiefly did. A receptacle for her mem-her experiences, her fears.
She stopped for a moment. Then she went on.
"He told me he thought Todd might grow up to be a student like himself. And if he did, then he would need lots of privacy and I must never break into it. 'If you want to keep your son close,' he said to me, 'you must let him go from you.'"
She stopped again, her face working so that Joan felt sorry for her. She was like someone who had been bereaved.
"Weil, I tried to understand that. I tried to believe it. I tried to do it. But I guess I wasn't very good at it because he never really did come close again. Perhaps boys don't. Perhaps they have to go off that way and be strangers. But girls are different, I've watched you and your mother together all these years. Your companionship is lovely. Perfectly lovely! So when I knew Todd and you were going to be married, I thought: 'Now that's fine. Now I'll have a daughter, anyway. And maybe through her I'll have a son again."
ness and objectivity in emotional problems helping them to a mutual respect and satisfactory solutions. But Mrs. Hunter's gentle, ubiquitous, haunting hunger was something else. It was insatiable. It was sentimental. It was sensitive. And it was invulnerable. It was like a web that each day woven about Joan with strands that seemed soft and silken but that had the strength of steel.
"I could scream," Joan told herself. "I could yell and howl and throw things like a baby. She wants to know everything I do and say and think and plan. She wants to advise and correct me and—for Pete's sake—help me! All the time! She wants me to belong to her, lock, stock and barrel. But I can't. I won't."
"Joanie," Mrs. Hunter would say, "where are you going, dear? Over to your mother's? Oh! Well, don't stay too long, will you? I miss you. The house is so quiet when you're not here."
"Till be back soon."

older woman was not order-systematic as Joan was, so the latter found this helping it. "Never mind that. Just it." Mrs. Hunter would say. Oh, I'll take care of that I've got to get off my feet. Let's rest here and talk." Joan came to realize that was what Mrs. Hunter chiefly did. A receptacle for her member experiences, her fears, hopes, Joan, herself, hardly got a word in edgewise. No matter the doctor kept to his hours on end, she sat. He would have to as a war of self-preservation.
other mother-in-law was good, usus, gentle. Joan recognized some fine attributes. "Any time never need anything," she says, "just tell me. I don't what it is. It's yours. Just as were my own daughter. The thinks I ought not to be that. He says I mustn't be so to give. Young people want independent, he keeps tells me. Let them struggle. They What he forgets is how I am to give. It's my great-joy in life."
She had broken and again Joan had seen her crumple into sadness. "Still let us listen to him," she had after a moment, "beonce he was right. Shall I use?" she had ended wistfully, knowing what was coming, and nodded.
it was a long time ago, Todd was in his early teens, Joan, then, to sort of pull from me. He changed, I from being companionable all-to being a stranger. We always been so close. He talked to me and told me but suddenly he didn't any He closed up like a clam. He locked his door against made me feel terrible. It me cry. And I couldn't find what was the matter. He tell me. He just kept say-nothing was wrong. Fiisis father said, "Tilly, let you alone. He can't help him-s growing up. That's all boy that's growing up has no privacy."
It was a difficult period that lasted a week or so, and it was particularly difficult after the perfect association Joan had known with her own mother. With her own mother, companionship had been natural and easy, with frank-that I tried to believe it. I tried to do it. But I guess I wasn't very good at it because he never really did come close again. Perhaps boys don't. Perhaps they have to go off that way and be strangers. But girls are different. I've watched you and your mother together all these years. Your companionship is lovely. Perfectly lovely! So when I knew Todd and you were going to be married, I thought: Now that's fine. Now I'll have a daughter, anyway. And maybe through her I'll have a son again, too."
Joan had been embarrassed and upset. Such a frank revealing of what must have been, and still was, a deep pain, left her not knowing how to answer. She felt curiously, much older than this woman before her, who was actually twice her age. And what had she done? She had laid a double burden on Joan, because for her to assert her independence now would be to wound with a double-edged sword, first as the daughter Mrs. Hunter had always wanted and never had, and second as Todd's wife who was to bring him close again.
"I can stand it for a while," she told herself, "but not forever."
She said nothing to anyone about the matter, because she felt that it was something for her to work out by herself. She would do it gradually, she thought. But on no account would she run back to her own mother for comfort or advice. Nor to the doctor. Either would be—well—immature, and her pride forbade it. Nor would she appeal to Todd. Above all, she would not go to Todd, for watching him with new understanding eyes, she saw that he did, indeed, keep himself to himself as his mother had said. He was always courteous and considerate—she could never imagine him otherwise—but he was distant. Even in his moments of banter he somehow remained aloof.
"We should not have come here to live," Joan thought.
But they were here.
