We wish our readers could have accompanied us as we made a tour of the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children in Los Angeles this week.
It was a press tour in conjunction with the third annual Shrine North-South football game to be held in the Los Angeles Coliseum Wednesday, July 21.
If you had gone with us through the boys' and girls' wards and had seen the work that was being done to return these children to a normal life, we are sure you would immediately buy tickets for the game, the entire proceeds of which are used to sustain this most worthy project.
There was a lump in the throat of more than one reporter and maybe some wet eyes as they visited these crippled children. One and all were amazed at their happiness and resolved to do everything possible to help make the North-South classic as big an event as its San Francisco East-West counterpart, which is sponsored by the Shriners in that city.
DOUBLE STAKE
We, in Anaheim, have a double stake in the game. One of the 40-plus patients in the Shriners' Hospital is from Anaheim and our favorite son, All-CIF Dean Philpott, will be a member of the South squad in the Shrine Hi battle.
We think it would be a good idea if the Booster Club, usually dormant during the summer time, would rally its forces to buy a large block of tickets and travel en masse to this game.

staff, and Gerald Runyon, top chucker for Fullerton, will both be attending Boys State in Sacramento to next week when the two rival Junior Legion squads are expected to have a special playoff game for the Northern Division title.
However, Paul Grover already holds one victory over the Fullerton squad and has a good chance to repeat.
We're picking Rocky Marciano to KO Ezzard Charles within seven rounds tonight. Charles may keep away from Marciano for a while, but when Rocky catches up, it will be curtains for the challenger... It's too bad there isn't an Orange County outlet for the theater television of the title bout. It is a sure moneymaker... Anaheim's Bloomer Girls open their league campaign against Laguna at City Park one week from tomorrow night.

Church Might Help Pitch Angels From Seventh Place to Seventh Heaven
By DON THACKREY
SAN FRANCISCO (UP)—If Los Angeles pitcher Bubba Church has permanently returned to the form he displayed last night, he might help pitch the Angels from seventh place to Seventh Heaven.
Church, who recently joined the appropriate Pacific Coast League team, won his first game in the loop by shutting out the hard-hitting Oakland Oaks 8-0 in their own ball park.
It was the second straight victory of the week for the Cherubs—as it was also the other PCL winners.
San Francisco continued to nibble at the Hollywood lead with an 8-5 win over the league leaders. San Diego held onto second place by edging past Seattle 4-3 and Sacramento repeated Tuesday's victory over Portland, this time winning 3-1.
Church was in trouble only in the second inning when he walked the bases loaded, throwing 11 consecutive balls in one stretch. However, he came out of it and kept seven Acorn hits scattered while his mates racked up Allen Gettel and two other offerings for 13 blows.
Don Robertson provided-Church with plenty of offensive dynamite, driving in three runs with a homer and triple.
Hollywood manager Bobby Bragan was muttering to himself about "The Walking Man" after watching his Stars give away two in a row to the Seals on free passes. Tuesday the Seals collected nine walks and last night they broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh frame with a five-run outburst that included two singles — anderner. Bob Dipletro and Jim Westlake hit back-to-back homers for the Seals and Jack Phillips clouted one for the Stars.
Big Cliff Fannin held Seattle well in check until the ninth inning as he gained his fourth victory. Then George Schmees cracked a two-run homer to cut the Padre margin to a single run and Fannin sat ut the remainder of the inning.
Second Half Starts in City 'A' League
Second-half action starts in the Anaheim City "A" League tonight with a full three-game slate.
The Elks will be out to maintain their slim half-game hold on first place when they face the Ballman's TVers in the 8:45 feature at City Park.
The Teamsters face the Magnolia Cobras in the 7:15 game at City Park and the second-place P & L Transmissions take on Hall's Drive-In in a 7:15 encounter at La Palma Park.
In the first half of play, the Elks nipped the TVers. 3-2, and the Teamsters eoged the Cobras. 1-0.
Hall's Drive-In replaced Hunt Foods in the circuit after the first night of action and did not play the Transmissions in the opening round. That game will be made up at a later date.
