GRADUATING PROM GLAMOUR—Lovely preface to the Anaheim High School Junior-Senior Prom at the Santa Ana Country club Saturday night were many soirees and with the teen-agers gay and happy in their formal dress. One such party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Brooks at 9342 Hillview, West Anaheim with their son, assisted by a bevy of coeds in the host and hostesses roles. The prom, a diversion from previous end-of-the year festivities, was one of the successful social events of the graduating season. In the above photo is seen a foursome at the Brooks home party (left to right) John Brooks, Elizabeth Bellmore, Ann Betts and Don Sagan. (Bulletin photo) Women carrie lou sutherland – editor Women carrie lou sutherland – editor Party Has Different Aspect; Bridegroom-Elect Feted at Surprise Shower at Rogers Home June, the month of romance and weddings, has been a busy one for many brides-to-be with the bridegrooms-elect often the forgotten men. This was not true Saturday night when Carroll Coykendall, who is towed Mary Louise Applebury of Artesia, June 26, was the very special guest at a party in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Roger on East North La Palma. Hosta and hostesses were the "would-be" uncles and aunts of the honored guest. Personal gifts were presented to the bridegroom-elect after a buffet supper was enjoyed. The grand daughters of the J. Lee Rogers' Pamela and Kay Mason, pulled in a circus cart, which had been made for Carroll, when he was but seven years old. It was piled high with gifts. As the affair was planned as a surprise, the guests thought this would give away the idea but the guest of honor "did not fall" until the group sang an original verse which (in part) said, "We have stuck by you through yuletide, birthdays, and school, but we feel now you are on your own. Good luck to you and Mary Lou." Movies Shown Entertainment included movies of an eastern trip enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Rogers which took the party guest to the east coast through some of the world-known locations and cities. Route home was through the rugged mountains in North Dakota. Cleverness marked every detail of the party. The table centerpiece was really a creation. An art piece done by Hugo Schulz, it first drew attention for its surprising attractiveness and then humor took over as the guests saw the unusual employment of barbed wire wilted illies, devil grass, oats and other items, all snowing the masculine touch. The setting was lighted by lanterns instead of the traditional candles.
