Mrs. Knott, as she installed Mrs. LaFollette at the conclusion of the rituals, said (in part) "use your gavel, director's baton." An orchestra could not play without a strong leader. See that Anaheim Ebell's symphony of offices' stay constantly in melodious harmony." Orchestral instruments handed to the officers, ranged from the big bass viol and drums to the clarinet and the violins.

"Speeders" speed up line patrolling. Many of Pacific Telephone's long distance lines must cross rugged country that's hard to reach on foot. But in cases where out-of-the-way lines parallel a railroad, telephone crews often patrol them in specially designed speeders like the one above. Summer or winter, these handy little vehicles click off mileage in a hurry, hustle men and equipment to make repairs when they're needed. By saving valuable time, they help us cut costs, hold down the price of telephone service. Pacific Telephone works to make your telephone a bigger value every day.
