Stanton News Mary M. Cook JAckson 7-1053 First meeting of Stanton Little League Women's Auxiliary was held recently with plans made for a special meeting to be called for tomorrow morning. Discussion was held on which type of consessions, what food to serve and relating items during the initial meeting. Necessity of a large Auxiliary membership was pointed up with raising funds in order to establish a minor league in this area their primary aim at present. Women attending the meeting were Mrs. Roy Fierce, Mrs. Jack Bonser, Mrs. Frank McManus, Mrs. Cleo Mossman, Mrs. James Allen, and Mrs. Raymond Binns. ... And a good time was had by all ... is the report from the recent farewell party staged for Savanna sixth grade students. The affair, held last Friday evening, featured games in charge of the two teachers Arthur Nieblas and Jim Else, parents and students alike participating. Event was sponsored by sixth grade room mothers, Donal Yonts, Lee Van Tine, Millard Clark, Cecil Bryan and G. M. Milbourn. Refreshments followed game time. Mrs. Wayne Butterbaugh was recently installed as Social Service Chairman of Anaheim Junior Ebell club. Registered voters, living within the area bounded by Cerritos avenue, and Brookhurst road, are re-nue, Stanton avenue, Orange ave-minded that they are included in the new Stanton voting precinct No. 4 and will vote at 8112 Starr St. A meeting of Stanton Little League parents and friends has been scheduled for Thursday evening at 7:30 in the Lions clubhouse. League officials urge a heavy turnout for the session. Due to the primary election date this month, Stanton Lady Lions will meet Wednesday June 9, instead of their regular meeting hour, according to Mrs. Paul Harrison, publicity chairman. Cardinal team of Stanton Little League will hold its initial practice session at Savanna school playground this evening at 6 o'clock. Activities will be in charge of W. E. Mohler and Edmund Cook manager and assistant. Community church Men's baseball team has scheduled a practice session for Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock. They will workout at Savanna school playground. Boy Scout Troop No. 82, Paul Harrison, scoutmaster, has planned another cookout for tomorrow evening at the Santa Ana riverbed. Members will assemble at Lions clubhouse at 6 p.m. and travel to the meeting place in a group. Examination for Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA) credits will be given at the Wednesday evening Prayer and Bible study meeting at Stanton Community church. Examination will cover I Corinthians 1-11 and will be given by Stanton Pastor Dr. Charles Lee Feinberg, who is director of Talbot Seminary at BIOLA. Her veil, held to her hair with a jeweled coronet, fell to her finger-tips over the fitted bodice, the sleeves three-quarter length and pointed. The very full skirt cascaded to a chapel train. Her only jewelry was a single strand of pearls. Gardenias and stephanotis were fashioned into her bouquet with an exquisite purple - throated orchid as its center. What Attendants Wore Mrs. Richard Grier, niee Dorothy Wolfert, of Chino, was matron of honor. Her pale yellow - toned gown, designed from brocade satin, was also fashioned with the off-shoulder stand - up collar, an arrangement of pink carnations lending contrast to her costume. Little Miss Karen Ruth Jennings, the brides sister, was the petite flower girl. She wore a pink brocade satin fashioned in the same design as the bride's gown. Attending to groomsman duties was James Rogers, brother of the bridegroom; Leonard S. Jennings, brother of the bride, and Bill Brunson, both of West Anaheim, in charge of ushering. Linden Ballau showed some fine colored pictures of his many trips through Mexico, Cuba, Jamalca, Puerto Rico, and South America. His photography is breathtaking, and very professional, and made even more interesting by his comments about the various places and their history. Linden has the right idea. He takes an accumulated vacation and really steeps himself in the lore of a locale. The Bowen hacienda, with its colorful Spanish atmosphere, and its treasures from south of the forder, and Fran, Helen, and Peggy as hostesses, made it a memorable evening for those who gather-ed to say, "Hasta la vista, Peggy." With the date of League opening fast approaching necessity of prompt action on the part of the Auxiliary is stressed. Members and interested persons are urged to attend. Meeting will be held at the home of League Vice President Mrs. Roy Fierce 10881 South Dale Ave. Student Journalists Form New Press Club Second organizational meeting of high school journalists engaged in newspaper publication in Orange County was held recently at Santa Ana College with 25 student writers from eight schools represented. Elected as temporary president and secretary were Frank Martin- The St. Joseph's Guild's Bulletin has just been released. This group of Placentia women have been doing great things in behalf of the colorful Spanish atmosphere, and its treasures from south of theforder, and Fran, Helen, and Peggy as hostesses, made it a memorable evening for those who gathered to say, "Hasta la vista, Peggy." Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Duenas, owners of the Victory Market in Placentia, visited the Yost Theatre in Santa Ana this week, where they saw the fine Spanish picture, "Mujer Sin Lagrimas", (Woman Without Tears) starring the Argentine star, Libertad La Marque. For students of the Spanish language, regular visits to this film theatre would greatly help their studies. In appointments and quality of films, it is on a par with the Million Dollar Theatre in Los Angeles. Mrs. Marguerite Dolbee of Placentia has just returned from a week's vacation. She and her sister Mrs. Jack McDonald, of Atwood, visited Ojai. They were guests of Minnie and Toby Aldredge, formerly of Placentia, and Ruth and Bill Burr, who were residents of Anaheim for many years. Both families are delighted with their new homes where Toby is the manager of the Ojal Valley Citrus Association and Bill owns the Red Jacket Pump Company. Mrs. Paul Brower, the former "Babe" McFadden, daughter of the T. L. McFaddens of Valencia avenue, and her former childhood neighbor, Margaret L. "Tiny" Yorba, were recently reunited in New York City, where both are now permanently located. Again they are neighbors, in the Washington Square section, just off Fifth Avenue. "Babe" is the wife of an oil executive, and they travel extensively in South America, while "Tiny" heads the Latin American sales Division of a world-wide cosmetic company. Her offices are in Rockefeller Plaza, but her duties take her all over South America and the West Indies, and more recently to Puerto Rico. where they have just opened their offices and put in a sales force. Elected as temporary president and secretary were Frank Martinez and Barbara Manbrofe, both of Garden Grove High. Other important decision reached was a new name for the group: OrCoHi Press Club, a compressed word-version of Orange County High. During the coming summer months, representatives of Orange County schools, including Pat Whitfield of Fullerton Union High School, will meet to develop the club constitution and laws. Regular meetings are planned for next school year, beginning early in October. This group of Placentia women have been doing great things in behalf of the recently completed Catholic church on Bradford avenue. Their June meeting was called for June 6 commencing with a recitation of the Rosary, followed by their regular meeting. This month's hostesses were Mrs. Joe Hannan and Mrs. John Nora. They met at Mrs. Hannan's home, which is located at 102 Primrose St. The meeting was devoted to ways and means of handling their annual fashion show. Last year, this affair was one of the highlights of the Orange County social calendar, and also proved to be a great fund raiser. It was held at the Santa Ana Country Club. The Myron Schillings did the floral decorations for the occasion, and their superb artistry will be hard to top. In addition, Mrs. Schilling sold 100 tickets for the event! Theirs is also a "Dutch treat" affair, but the girls do a bit of munching after cards, at the home of their hostess. Bob and Mattie Shanks, owners of the White Way Beauty and Barber Shop in Brea made theirs a week end of holiday racing. Sunday, they drove to Ti Juana, where Mattie distinguished herself by winning the "Daily Double" and the "Quinella". Then they stayed for the evening's festivities and took in five dog races. The following day found them at Hollywood Park, and again Mrs. Shanks won.
