Mater Dei High Students Claim Top National Awards Mater Dei High school, Santa Ana, has just learned that 11 of their Latin students won awards in the Auxilium Latinum Competitive Nationwide Latin examinations conducted by the Association for Promotion of Study of Latin. Mearly 23,000 students from the United States, Canada, Aaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico participated in the test. The highest award that can be merited was won by a third year Latin student, Barbara Menke, an Anaheim resident and Junior at Mater Dei. She was given a gold medal and a achievement certificate of merit, summa cum laude. Janet Crampton, also a third year student was awarded a certificate of merit, maxima cum laude. First year student. Louis Glegerich, earned a certificate of merit, magna cum laude. The certificate of merit, cum laude was achieved by Paul O'Sullivan, Daniel Efert, and Bernard Jordan, juniors, Patricia Winchell, sophomore; Betty Jo Eadington, Joseph Robinson, George O'Brien, and Judy Green, freshmen. WILLIAM B. KNOX Church President Boston Man Elected Head of Christian Science Church William R. Knox, of Boston, Mass., today was named president of the Mother church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the annual meeting of the Mother church attended by Christian Scientists from many parts of the world. Knox appointment was announced by the Christian Science Board of Directors. The term of office is for one year. He has been an authorised Christian Science practitioner in Boston — the world headquarters of the Christian Science movement — for almost 50 years. Prio to devoting his full time to the practice of Christian Science healing, Knox was in the structural steel business. He first became tended by Chritian Scientists from many parts of the world. Knox appointment was announced by the Christian Science Board of Directors. The term of office is for one year. He has been an authorised Christian Science practitioner in Boston — the world headquarters of the Christian Science movement — for almost 50 years. Prio to devoting his full time to the practice of Christian Science healing, Knox was in the structural steel business. He first became interested in Christian Science through the healing of his mother. He has served the denomination in a variety of posts. A former member of the finance committee of the Mother church, he is now active as a trustee of Church Realty Trust. Here and There Congratulations are being showered on Mr. and Mrs. James Hund of 558 South Indiana St. Their infant daughter was born June 4 at St. Joseph hospital. The Beekeepers of the Orange County Farm Bureau are meeting tonight at the Bureau hall. The session will be introduced with a 6:30 p.m. potluck. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Stephenson of 2415 Riverside Dr. are being informed of the birth of their daughter at St. Joseph hospital on June 4. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Peterson and daughter Patricia enjoyed a weekend holiday at Big Bear resort and report good fishing. A daughter was welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. James Walker of 506 North Resh St. at St. Joseph hospital last Friday. Tab.UCLA Program Nine years of city-sponsored choral activities by the Los Angeles Bureau of Music culminate tonight in the third annual performance of Bach's moving "St. Matthew Passion" at Royce Hall on the U.C.L. campus in Westwood. More than 300 singers from 14 choruses will be heard in the free concert which starts at 8:30 p.m. ANAHEIM COED — Yvonne Miller is the new secretary of the Fullerton Junior College Student Body. She is a Marywood graduate. Mrs. Neighbors Fete Retiring Assistance League Board Group Mrs. C. A. Neighbors, retiring president of the Anaheim Assistance League, was the hostess at luncheon at the Balboa club honoring the league's board members this past year. Present were Mrs. E. H. Karsen, new president who will be installed June 10. Mrs. Charles Pearson, Mrs. Melvin Duffey, Mrs. William Levecke, Mrs. John Wood, Mrs. Ben Kaulbars, Mrs. William Stehly, Mrs. Cortez Hoskins, Mrs. H. H. Nutt. Mrs. Neighbors, in expressing her appreciation to the retiring-officer presented them each with a gift and said, "It seems right that we end our year at this luncheon for it was here a year ago, we started our work together." The group, in turn presented Mrs. Neighbors with a lovely remembrance. Kuchel Headquarters Winding-Up Primary Campaign Work The Thomas Kuchel Anaheim Campaign Headquarters has been astir with last minute activity this week in anticipation of tomorrow's election day. Under the co-chairmanship of Mrs. Coalson Morris and Leo Sheridan, the headquarters has been maintained by the Anaheim Republican Women's club since May 1. The sons and daughter are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stehly (deceased), founders of the Hecla parish. These brothers and their families were feted at a Sunday night buffet dinner party in the N. J. Stehly home, 10322 South Brookhurst Rd., with the N. J. Stehly family as the host group. Brothers and familles are: Dr. and Mrs. Stehly of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stehly and sons, Timothy and Mark; Dr. and Mrs. William Stehly and daughter, Ann Marie and son, Mike; the N. J.
