ANAHEIM (Cal.) BULLETIN Saturday, June 5, 1954 Kidnapers Hint at Ransom Whereabouts ST. LOUIS (UP) — Kidnapers Carl Austin Hall and Bonnie Brown Heady hinted the day before they died that they knew what became of the missing $300,000 Greenlease ransom mnoey, the St. Louis Globe-Democrat said today. The Globe-Democrat said Haile and Heady threw out hints in a death row interview last Dec. 17 with Roy S. Pruett, agent in charge of the federal Food and Drugs administration here. The next day Hall, a drug addict wastrel, and Mrs. Heady, his alcoholic accomplice, died in the gas chamber for the kidnap-murder of 6-year-old Bobby Greenlease. Hall and Heady had obtained $600,000 ransom from Bobby's wealthy Kansas City, Mo., father. About $300,000 of the money was never recovered. The two St. Louis policemen who arrested Hall, Lt. SHORT TIME WEST HARTFORD, Conn. Employees presented Andrew Hanen with a $150 watch after 3 years of service. The next night a thief broke into his home and stole it. California farmers also noted price declines in wheat, barley, beans, rice, hay, alfalfa seed, citrus fruits, hogs lambs and poultry. Potato prices rose sharply while prices for grain sorghums, beef cattle, calves and wool strengthened.
