PRECAUTION—Pickets at the Kohler Co. plant in Sheboygan, Wis., watch as Elmer Schrader hits his dog Dutchess with a gas mask. Some 500 of the more than 1000 pickets at the plant have donned the masks in answer to testimony by Herbert V. Kohler at a Labor Relations Board hearing he had a "strong suspicion" the company had tear gas bombs on hand. The plant has been struck seven weeks. TELLS OF TRAGEDY — Capt. William F. Raborn of Oklahoma City in charge thereof COPENHAGEN has constructed a new type of single sculling about 30 pounds, the sculler will cost $200. The new craft, the frame of which is light metal. TELLS OF TRAGEDY — Capt. William F. Raborn of Oklahoma City is shown aboard his ship, the carrier Bennington, at Quonset Point, R. I., as he held news conference. Capt. Raborn said he had no idea what caused the explosions and fire off Newport, 70 miles at sea. Ninety one were killed and 201 injured in the disaster. COLOR GIRL — Marna Clarissa Schultz, 22, of Takoma, Md., is the 1954 color girl at the U.S. Naval Academy. Chosen by Midshipman George B. Parks of San Francisco, whose company was judged best in brigade, she will reign over June Week activities. She was one of six persons arrested on conspiracy warrants by police in roundup after Suffolk County Grand Jury returned indictments against seven suspected Communists. BY THE BEAUTIFUL SEA—These dancers from Shirley Booth's hit musical comedy of that name were literally there when they went down to the opening of the 58th season of Steeplechase Park at Coney Island for a little fun. It's apparent that they had a lot of it.
