The sewing project the women have been working on for some time has been completed, having reached their quota. They have made nightgowns, and bedjackets for women and scuffles for the Company Only Bidder On Job It Completed
SANTA ANA — Since it was the only bidder on the job it did, Pacific Acoustics, Inc., will be paid for the installation of acoustical ceilings at Orange County General Hospital.
The concern did the work on force account order of the hospital and charged $4438 for the job, and promptly found that County Auditor Les H. Eckel wouldn't pay the bill because it exceeded the amount the law says can be spent for a single job done without bid.
The county then had to go through the formality of calling for bid on a job already done, and Pacific was the only concern entering a bid.
Everybody wondered what would have happened if some other concern had under-bid—whether the job would have had to be torn out and done again, or whether the Pacific concern couldn't be paid at all.

The Cypress post and auxiliary will dedicate a memorial plaque to Cypress Recreation Park on Memorial Day and due to the structure of the monument, it was necessary to build it last week. Since its completion, a portion of the wall has been destroyed and minor damage done to the plaque. Sewell reported.
The post and auxiliary are requesting parents to tell their children that the plaque is being dedicated to the memory of all veterans who gave their lives so that the flag of our nation may still wave over the land of the free permitting us to have parks like the recreation park for our children.
"We feel quite certain," Commander Sewell said, "that if the children know the purpose of the plaque, they will not destroy it and we sincerely hope the parents will cooperate for we all know there are no hoodlums in Cypress, but just a few mischievous children."
