YEARS OF SERVICE—1923 to 1954 have been the years during which the Anaheim A.B. Paul Woman's Relief Corps has been active in Anaheim. Celebrating the birthday this week, members departed officers and special guests met at the IOOF temple for a birthday party. Shown cutting the call the A.B. Dignitaries Attend WRC Annual Birthday Party
Observing their birthday anniversary and service in Anaheim since 1923, the members of the A.B. Paul Woman's Relief Corps met at the IOOF tempope this week with department and national officers present for the occasion.
Heading arrangements was Alice Robert, president, who introduced Ruth Johnson, national inspector, from Bellflower; Faye Boone, department treasurer from Bell; Mea Caldwell, past department presi-

Ritual of cutting the birthday cake was done by Mrs. Robert with this confection centering a large table. It was circled with sweet pea blossoms and flanked with two lighted candles.

Program highlight was a talk, given by the Rev. McKinley Walk-

Condensed report of the department convention at Jose was presented by Prest Alice Robert who outlined the posed activities for the entire year set down by the major organization.

Other visitors presented were from Compton, Whittier, Bellflower. Stanton, Bell, Anaheim, and including Effie Colburn from Oakland corps.
Each of the Corps dignitaries spoke briefly bringing to the A. B. Paul members something of the national scope of work as well as praising the local members on the excellent record of the corps during its year of service in this city.

Announcement that three American flags would be presented to the George Washington School at a program in the IOOF hall on May 27 was made. Here and There
Troop 51, at a meeting held in the Hillscher home, made programs for the end of the year dancing party to be held at the Elks clubhouse. The dance guests will be all junior high school students in and near Anaheim. The meeting opened with a tacos dinner. This was worked so girls could work toward their badges.
Mrs. Charles A. Fiske, of 759 North Janas St., as secretary of the Montana Women's club of Southern California, announces that, before adjourning for the summer months, the club will meet for luncheon at 8740 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, Thursday, June 3, at 12 noon. For reservations, phone Hollywood, 3-7326. All former Montanans are invited.
Mr. and Mrs. George Butler of 1838 Almond Dr. welcomed their baby daughter at the St. Joseph hospital Wednesday.
License to wed has been issued to Larry Keith Richards of South Clementine Street and Elaine Brattlof of 523 South Dickel St.
Congratulations are being showered on Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hawkins of 10342 Brookhurst Rd. Their infant son was born May 19 at St. Joseph hospital.

Barnett-Hanson Nuptial News Told Friend Couple Said Vows at Quaint Yuma Chapel
Quaint Greta Green chapel at Yuma. Ariz., was the setting for the wedding rites uniting Carole Ann Barnett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Barnett of 607 South Palm St. and Carel Hanson of 120 North Citron St., and son of Martin Hansons of Northwest Minot, N.D. Officiating clergyman was the Rev. Charles W. Murdell with the double ring ceremony read.
For her marriage the bride was lovely in her white nylon afternoon wedding gown, its accents in pink and her bridal bouquet fashioned from white rose buds, pink carnations and lily of the valley. A treasured lace handkerchief, which had belonged to her grandmother, was carried by the bride, and she wore the traditional blue garter, tucked a lucky coin in her slipper and accented her gown with a lovely strand of pearls which were her grandmothers. She was given in marriage by her father.

Mrs. Margaret Chapman was her only attendant. Her afternoon gown of navy blue was a striking contrast to the bride's gown. Her accessories were in white and as were the carnations which formed her floral arrangement. John Chapman attended to groomsman duties. Both Mr. and Mrs. Chapman are close friends of the bride's family.
For the wedding of her daughter, Mrs. Barnett, who with her husband, witnessed the nuptials, wore a poudre blue dress, her accessories in navy shade and her corsage fashioned from pink carnations.

Mr. and Mrs. Troutman Honored at Silver Wedding Anniversary Dinner Party
Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer J. Troutman of 420 Parkway are still receiving congratulations on their silver wedding anniversary which was celebrated with a dinner dancing party at their home. Receiving their many guests at the party with the Troutmans were their parents and their daughters, Janice and Sharon Troutman.
Buffet dinner was served at eight o'clock with the anniversary table, covered with a lace cloth, centered with the 25th anniversary cake, surrounded arrangements of white gladioli with lighted candles in crystal holders. A gorgeous bouquet of white gladioli, lighted by candles in silver holders, was reflected in the mirror back of the buffet.
Tradition of cutting the first slice of the anniversary cake and opening of the gifts by the honored couple was a part of the evening's events.
Guests sharing the party, which took place on May 15, were close friends and relations and included Mr. and Mrs. Edd Troutman of Santa Ana, Mrs. Louise Bamesberger, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bamesberger, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Presson of Garden Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ott of Buena Park, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Eckels, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Troutman of Anaheim, all relatives of the Troutmans; Mr. and Mrs. George Michel and daughter, Patsy of Los Angeles; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Topham of Riverside, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sorkness of San Diego, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Bradley.
Helen Weir Honoree At Shower; Set Date For Wedding
Helen Weir, bride-elect of Charles Sitton, was the very special guest at a shower given recently by Mrs. Gertrude Kemp and Mrs. Lloyd Stheling, assisted by Mrs. Verl Underwood of Santa Ana, an aunt, and Mrs. Roland Wier, mother of the honored guest. The party was held in the Weir home at 10831 Harbour Blvd.
Decorated with large and small wedding bells, tied with pastel-toned bows, the large living room of the home was a beautiful setting for the games played during the party hours. Centerpiece on the table featured a miniature bride surrounded by a bed of sweet peas in pastel shades. This arrangement was flanked by lighted candles. Installation of Disabled Veterans Northern Orange County unit No. 94 will take place Saturday night at the Moose hall East Commonwealth Fullerton, (upstairs) at 8 o'clock. To be seated as commander and senior vice commander will be Albert Fernandez and Norman (Jack) Halderman, Anaheim.
The chapter is holding a combined installation with the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary with Caroline Lovering of Fullerton and Mrs.Halderman to be seated as commander and senior vice of the Auxiliary.
The public is invited to attend the ceremonies and join the two unit members in the social evening to follow.

National Secretaries Set 'Kaffee Klatch'
The Orange Empire Chapter of the National Secretaries Association invites all secretareis to attend the "Kaffe Klatsch" on Saturday afternoon between the hours of 2 and 4 at the Santa Ana Women's club at Sixth and Baker St. Santa Ana, Calif.
The local membership chairman is Irene Czaplinski. Any secretary wishing information concerning the organization may call her at Kimberly 2-5621, or address her at 1801 Grand Ave., Santa Ana.
Violin Orchestra to Play at Stockwell Student Recital
A piano recital by the students of Betty Stockwell will be held Sunday at 3:15 p.m. at the Anaheim Ebell. The popular violin orchestra from Balboa will be featured guest group.
This orchestra is directed by Ruth Paddock Gibbs, formerly director of the famous Hollywood Baby Orchestra. Her orchestra now is composed of Jimmy Grainger, four years old and Pamela Stockwell, six years old; from Anaheim; Scott Bailey Perry White, Johnny
and Juggy Beall, and Robert Schumann. The orchestra will play several numbers with members to also play duets and solos.
A reception will follow the program for all present.

"A Writer's Diary" by Virginia Woolf, gives the reader a remarkable insight into the mind and method of a great writer; it reveals the extra-ordinary patience and devotion the concentration and integrity which go into the making of a work of art. Virginia Woolf began to keep a regular diary in 1915 and continued to do so until a few days before her death. For the present volume, her husband has extracted from the diary those passages which refer to Virginia Woolf's own writing.
"The Second Tree from the Corner," by E. B. White, is a selection of pieces of whatever nature, written over the past twenty years that he thinks stand the test of time.
Catholic Shrines
"Catholic Shrines in the United States and Canada", by Father Francis B. Thornton, tells about 119 shrines of many kinds, describing the esthetic, architectural and historical points of interest of each.
"Life of the Pasy" by G. G. Simpson, is an introduction to paleontology, by an outstanding paleontologist. He examines his science here for the general reader and the beginning student alike. He explains how the history of living things is preserved, discovered and interpreted.
"Imperial Waltz" by William Abrahams, is a historical novel about the empress consort of Frans Josep emperor of Austria. It deals with her life before the tragedy of her son's deah at Mayerling and her own assassination.
Immortal Lady Novel
"The Last Love of Camille", by Frances Winwar, is a novel of the little known story of the immortal Lady of the Camellias, famous courtesan whose last love affair with the composer Franz Liszt, was the only real romance of her life.
