Methodists Buy Lazy-W Ranch Near Capistrano for All-Year Camp Site Purchase by the Methodist denominaton of the Lazy-W Ranch in the mountains between San Juan Capistrano and Elsinore was announced Monday evening to the Orange County Methodist Union at its monthly meeting held in Christ Church by the Sea, Newport Beach. The Orange County site, located in Hot Springs Canyon, consists of 160 acres of wooded area along a mountain stream and will be developed into an all-year camp. Reputed purchase price was $40,-000. Several structures on the property will permit early use by small groups. The Methodist church has become increasingly active in developing a camping program in recent years. This coming summer they will sponsor camping periods in Southern California and Arizona. These serve various age groups including family camping. The new camp will one of eight sites owned by the Camp Commission of the Southern Californi-Arizona Conference. Set County Picnic A county-wide Methodist picnic has been set for Saturday, May 29th, by the County Union as a time when local Methodists may explore the new facilities. Coming as it does on the Memorial Day week-end, a special Memorial Day address will be given by Rev Alec Nichols of First Church, Santa Ana. Speakers at Monday evening's meeting were two County pastors just returned from a preaching mission in the Hawaiian Islands, Byrom Deshler and Alec Nichols. Illustrating their talks with kodas slides, they spoke on "Hawaii," its beauties, its problems, its Christian possibilities." The Rev Frank Butterworth had been scheduled to participate in the program but was unable to attend because of a conflict with a committee planning the White Temple building campaign. Gideons to Appear At Friends Church "Impossibilities Made Possible" is the pastor’s sermon subject for the two morning services at Alamitos Friends church. Also at both services, the Gideons organization of Christian business men, tell off the work of giving Bibles to various schools. The Alamitos Mixed Quartet will sing for the first service and the Sanctuary choir for the second. At the evening service the theme “Christian Parents Look at Their Teenagers” will be developed by the pastor and a panel of parents. The service is designed to aid both parents and young people in maintaining Christian standards in the home. On May 30, there will be a sequel,“Teenagers Look at Their Parent.” The Youth choir will be featured in a special number directed by Vincent Recll. Alexander McCandless. These messages are presented by elaborate stereopticon projection and ingenious dissolving effects of the most gorgeous scenes that photographic art can produce. Reverend McCandless uses as a supplement to his message reproductions of the Old Masters of Biblical Art such as; Beale, Dore', Da Vinci, Dobson, Dowling, Dietrich, Dubufe, Gerome, Gleyre, Hofman, Herbert, Jalabert Leinweber, Neslie, Overbek, Portaels, Raphael Richter, Sehogin, Tissot, Tidley, Vernet, Van Arnim, and many others direct from the original paintings to the screen in vivid color. The public is invited to see and hear each of these special series of Bible studies. Science Churches List General Topic The way of liberation from enslavement to evil will be discussed in the lesson-sermon "Mortals and Immortals" at all Christian Science services Sunday. Included in the Bible citations is Luke's account of the raising from the dead of the widow’s son at Naïn. When he was being carried to the burial place Jesus saw her and had compassion on her,and said unto her Weep not.And He came and touched the bier;and they that bare him stood still. And He said Young man I say unto them Arise." The record continues.“And he that was dead sat up,and began to speak And He delivered him to his mother.” “Man in likeeness of God as revealed in Science cannot help being immoral,” declares Mary Baker Eddy in a passage from “Science and Health with Key tothe Scriptures.” Again she says, "The great spiritual fact mustbe brought out that man is,noth shall be.perfect andimmortal... The evidence.of man’s immoralitywill become more apparent.as material beliefsare givenup和the im mortalfactsofbeingadmitted."
