If It's News You'll See It In Dr. Sheller Compiles Evidence Proving Teachers' Versatility Evidence that the role of a teacher extends far beyond the classroom and the campus has been collected recently at Fullerton Junior college by Dr. H. Lynn Sheller, director. In his survey, Dr. Sheller found that 60 Fullerton Junior college instructors maintained 275 paid memberships in professional organizations. This was an average of 4.6 memberships each. The instructors also held 224 subscriptions to professional publications. They were members of 114 different organizations devoted to the various subject fields of education and reported 142 special professional services in the field of school and education. From the findings of the survey it would seem that teachers sometimes take a postman's holiday in their out-of-schools hours. Either during the summer or the regular school year itself, Fullerton Junior college teachers did 186 semester units of work at various colleges and universities. Participation in community activities was general and extensive, with college teachers engaging in 234 reported community services during 1952-53. At least four teachers served as substitutes in the pulpits of various Orange County churches. Another faculty member was a member of the board of directors of a citrus marketing association and another of a water company. One appeared as the main attraction on two television programs. Several held offices in the YMCA and the YWCA and performed special services in those groups. Still another was chairman of the Fullerton Pre-Easter luncheons. During the year, Fullerton Junior college instructors gave over 100 speeches before various community organizations. In the field of education, the teachers were especially active. Some wrote articles for professional journals; many served as officers of professional organizations; others worked as members of special professional committees and boards dealing with such matters as curriculum-making, improve- At Anaheim Hospital Friday ARRIVALS— Mrs. Helen McLaine, Anaheim Richard H.
