The first program of the series was slated today and features the Cardinal. The second program on Oct. 6 will have girls from Marywood with Mrs. Gwen Holly Simpson, dramatic teacher at Marywood as director. Last May this program was given on a closed circuit at U.S.C. The girls will demonstrate the various phases of the four year dramatic course in theatre arts which Marywood offers under the supervision of Mrs. Simpson. A short scene from King Lear, rendered with maturity, finesse, and clarity, will give evidence of the advanced work of the Marywood girls. The time of this program will be announced later. However, in order to view this program on Oct. 6 TV sets purchased before 1953 will need an adapter. The new stations, Channel 28 and another new one coming up this fall, Channel 22, are UHF stations. That is, they are ultra high frequency stations; the conventional type is merely high frequency or HP. Sets purchased during 1953 may already have this special wiring and only a small adjustment is necessary. Parents and friends of Marywood girls will wish to have their television sets in readiness for the programs. The girls participating in this first television show of the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese are Sally Brown, Shirley Schmita.
