FASHION NOTES—Donna Darr, 6, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Darr, 325 West Hampshire St., and Ernie D. Rose, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest D. (Bulletin photo) Episcopal Layman Convene Saturday Key laymen of the Episcopal church in Southern California will meet at the Huntington Hotel, Pasadena, next Saturday to formulate a vigorous program of spiritual advancement and church activity for 1953-54, under the leadership of the Hon. Francis Eric Bloy, bishop of Los Angeles, has issued 250 personal invitations to the meeting to representative laymen nominated by rectors and vicars of the 158 parishes and missions of the church in Southern California. The all-day conference will convene at 10 am., Judge Pfaff presiding. William D. Campbell, Los Angeles, vice chairman for Laymen's Work in the Diocese, and William H. Siegund, San Martino, chairman of the Presiding Bishop's Committee for Laymen's Work in the Eighth Province, which includes California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Alaska Hawaii and the Phillipine Islands will participate. Diocesan needs will be outlined by Chester A. Rude, Los Angeles, general chairman of the recent Episcopal Advancement Fund which successfully went over the goal by a quarter of a million dollars. An address by the Rt. Rev. Donald James Campbell, suffragan bishop will conclude the morning session. Highlight of the afternoon session will be the address of Bishop Bloy. His talk will follow a panel presentation of the Diocese program to be made by key laymen from different areas of Southern California. Speakers will be the Hon. Philip H. Richards, Los Angeles; Edward L. DePattie, Glendale; vice president Warner Brothers; Herbert J. Fenn, principal Union-Jefferson High School, Long Beach; Raymond F. Feist, Oceanside attorney; the Hon. Guy Richards Crump, San Marino, and Robert Lisenba, San Bernardino. Junior College Adult Craft Classes Detailed Adults enrolled in the art metal craft class at Fullerton Evening Junior College this fall will learn to make many useful and beautiful articles, according to Mrs. Edna Collins, instructor. Such objects as bowls, trays formed by the student. Instruction will be given in surface enrichment etching, chasing and other forms of embellishment. Making of copper pictures is also included. The art metal craft class is scheduled for Monday of every week, from 1 to 4 p.m., and will meet in room 914 on the junior college campus. All interested persons are asked to sign up at that time, it was announced this week. A variety of classes are to be offered including textile painting on Thursday, Ceramics and porcelain classes will be taught Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. With a class in lamp shade making each Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesdays, the finer art of rug making and needlecraft will be taught. A course in parent-child observation will be conducted each Thursday and each Tuesday. Cake decoration and flower arrangement classes will be conducted. Other courses will be offered if sufficient interest is shown. A minimum of 15 students are required to form a class. A wood shop class will meet on Monday and Wednesday with Ryan and Messamer as instructors. In addition to the above courses, the following classes will be sponsored by the Industrial Committee of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce as a part of the Adult Education program. Those interested may register at the first meeting of the class in the classroom. Registration starts Monday, Sept. 21, on the AUHS campus. Daily will have a class in inspection II on Tuesday and Thursday. Courses in blue print reading, shop mathematics, and freehand sketching will be given on Tuesday and Thursday. Machine shop tool and die II will be offered on Monday and Wednesday and a course in basic inspection I will be offered on Monday and Wednesday. Machine operations will be taught on Tuesday and Thursday with instruction in manufacturing control and production control, also material handling planned each Thursday. Warren Schutz and Bride Establish Katella Road Home Friends this week are showering congratulations on Mr. and Mrs. Warren L. Schutz who have returned to Anahelm from a honeymoon spent at Big Bear resort. The bride is the former Mrs. Evelyn Sue Anderson of Santa Ana. The widow of the one of America's World War II pilots, Lt. Jock Anderson of Philadelphia who lost his life in line of duty. Mr. Schuts is a prominent attorney with the firm of Pris and Schuts of this city. He formerly served as deputy district attorney and judge of the justice court in this district. The rites were solemnized by the assistant pastor, Rev. L. F. Runion of the Riverside First Methodist church on Sept. 8, Mr. and Mrs. Schuts have established their home on East Katella rd.
