BUSINESS CLUB
MEETS GUESTS
OVER TEA CUPS
ATTired in their prettiest new spring gowns and wearing their happiest, most hospitable smiles, the seven directors of the Business and Professional Women's club, including Mrs. Helen Harden, president; Dr. Bessica Ralche, Mrs. C. D. Goodson and the Misses Alice Humphrey, Stella Jackson, Julia Goodrum and Ruth White, greeted a large number of their Anaheim friends yesterday at the first of a duo of teas in the new club home.
Cards read from 3 to 6 and there was not a dull moment in the meantime. Informality reignited and it was with the greatest happiness and satisfaction that many of the local friends of the girls for the first time glimpsed the interior of the cozy place at 117 East Broadway. Flowers in profusion were arranged in baskets and great bouquets in tall vases, many of them gifts from admiring friends.
A musical program was presented by the Anaheim Lyric Quartet, composed of the Mesdames Walter Ross, W. D. Pemberton, A. L. Knipe and J. O. Schwentker, with Miss Marion Wallace at the piano. The ladies have given unlimited pleasure and interest before audiences in their home town and yesterday's numbers were even a little better than on other occasions, if such were possible.
The Mesdames Ross, Pemberton and Knipe sang solos in addition to quartet numbers.
Tea was served from the handsome new walnut tea wagon which was recently presented by the Girls Win Prominence
The Misses Helen and Lura Culp, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Culp, of Brea, have been awarded honor places among this year's graduates at Mills' College each having earned their bacrelor of art degree.
Miss Lura Culp has majored in mathematics, being one of two students at Mills to be elected to Mu Theta Epsilon, mathematies honor society. Physical education is Miss Helen's major subject. She was this year chosen vice president of the "Pem" club and has been prominent in all athletics of the college during her four years.
Entertains for Pianist
Mrs. Harry Spellman, of 500 East Broadway, entertained a few close friends Friday afternoon to meet Mrs. Myrtle Meese, professional pianist, and to be entertained by her with groups of piano and vocal numbers.
Mrs. James Bell accompanied Mrs. Meese during a trio of songs especially sung for the kiddies present. Mrs. Meese has been in Anaheim frequently and is desirous of meeting anyone interested in organization of a piano class.
Mrs. Spellman served tasty refreshment after the informal musicale.
Dollar on Birthday
Since "dollar day" is becoming the prevailing indoor sport, ladies of the Christian church Missionary society are taking it up, and request every member of that organization to attend the meeting tomorrow at 2:20 in the church, to bring a dollar. As this is the anniversary of organization of the music department, assisted by Monte Blue and Marie Pramille."
BY the late Mrs. Pemberton composed of the Mesdames Walter Ross, W. D. Pemberton, A. L. Knife and J. O. Schwentker, with Miss Marion Wallace at the piano. The ladies have given unlimited pleasure and interest before audiences in their home town and yesterday's numbers were even a little better than on other occasions, if such were possible.
The Mesdames Ross, Pemberton and Knife sang solos in addition to quartet numbers.
Tea was served from the hand-some new walnut tea wagon which was recently presented by the Lions club, and all agreed that it had a finer flavor than any ever sipped.
Mothers will be the guests of honor at next Sunday's affair, also in the comfy place, and special preparation is being made for the event.
The club is one of the thriving civic organizations of Anaheim and is the foremost of its kind in the Southland. The club has a monthly social event, weekly luncheons in Elks club and many a chatty event beside the home fireplace in the clubhouse.

Board Lets Girls Roll Their Own
Fullerton high school co-eds are now rolling their socks below their knees as the result of a recent petition signed by 265 high school girls asking the board of trustees to grant permission. The ban on rolled socks below the knees during gymnasium period had been in effect about two years, it is said. The petition stated that the girls see nothing immoral, immodest, or unladylike in rolling their socks, leaving the knees bare.
The board left the matter up to the teachers and the girls have since been rolling their hose to suit themselves.
