"BILL" WILLIAMS
STAGES COMEBACK
By R. O. Consigny
Brea fans stood up and yelled yesterday over the comeback to "Bill" Williams, who pitched the Bearcats to a 5 to 2 victory over Cypress. His criss-cross delivery had the visitors somewhat baffled, and they were unable to connect in the pinches. His support was good and he had the old "soup bone" working great. The game was exciting from the spectators' standpoint; the score being tied until the sixth.
Cypress scored one and the Shellers retaliated in the first Cypress counted again in the third, as did Shell, but in the sixth, Valente, first man up, signed, and Lewis followed with Texas leaguer behind second they completed a double steal and Valente scored while Williams was being thrown out first on a slow hit ball. Lewett trotted across the plate and Griffith made first safely when Heard let a fast one go by his Welin then singled advance Griffith who scored when A sell singled over second base.
A return game has been requested by Cypress and it agreeable to the Shell boys.

COLLEEN MOORE AT CALIFORNIA
Colleen Moore has said goodbye to "Sally."
The final scenes of this, her newest First National starring vehicle, have been completed under the direction of Alfred E. Green. The picture will be shown at the California Theatre for three days starting Sunday.
"Sally" was adapted from the noted Ziegfeld hit of the same name by June Mathis and enacted before the camera by a cast of more than ordinary excellence. As "Sally," Colleen Moore is declared to have eclipsed any role she has portrayed in the past. Her "Sally" is fraught with originality, charm and hoydenish humor.
Chief in her support is Lloyd Hughes, playing the foster son of a multi-millionaire, who first meets "Sally" when she is an inmate of an East Side Poundling Asylum. Pate links the lives of the two and carries them through the vicissitudes of struggle to final success and happiness.
Leon Errol, who created that imitable comedy role, the Duke of Checkergovinia, in the original stage version, appears in the film version in the same character. Other important players are: Myrtle Stedman, John T. Murray, Ray Hallor, Eva Novak, Dan Mason, Carlo Schipa, E. H. Calvert and Louise Beaudet.
A Felix Cat Cartoon and a late issue of the International News completes the picture program.
Geo E. Turner, concert organist, has arranged a special musical program to play with the picture.

SPORTING EVENTS
Yestedray's Hero — Pitcher Joe Genewich of the Braves—who broke the Giants winning streak and turned them back with but five hits, Boston winning 8 to 1.
"Dazay" Vance was pounded for 15 hits, despite which the Robins beat the Phillies 10 to 8, ending their losing streak.
Three Athletic batsmen made homers in the first three innings each time with a man on base, but it took a ninth inning gally for the Mackmen to beat the Red Sox 7 to 6.
Manager Sisler of the Browns hit safely in his tenth consecutive game as his mates lost to the Indians 8 to 4, due largely to Uhle's good pitching.
A rally in the eighth, when the Rods landed on Allen Sofern for a homer and two singles, let Cincinnati defeat St. Louis 7 to 6.
Fifteen hits helped the Cubs to beat Pittsburg 7 to 2, Grimm and Barrett each made four hits.
The White Sox proved it can be done without hits, however, when they won from Detroit, 4 to 3, after collecting only three measly safeties.

UNITED OFFERS GALAXY OF STARS
The joys and sorrows of chorus girls aside from their romantic lives in current literature, furnish the story of "A Broadway Butterfly," the new feature attraction at the United Theatre, which will be shown Sunday only.
Knowing that the lives of chorus girls on Broadway are always interesting—and many times fascinating prisms of color—and remembering the six prominent players that have been chosen to portray the story of "A Broadway Butterfly," it is a safe bet to say that this newest Warner Bros. Classic of the Screen will be an absorbing picture.
The six big names that head the cast of "A Broadway Butterfly" are Louise Fazenda, Wilard Louis, Dorothy Devore, Cullen Landis, Lilyan Tashman and Cullen Landis, the three female stars being show girls of varying talents and accomplishments, the three masonline luminaries representing the last word in this season's "rounders."
"A Broadway Butterfly," in outline, deals with the hectic adventures of a country-bred girl when she comes to New York, seeking fame and glory as a dancer. Believing that renown is just around the corner, she accepts a portion as chorus girls and finds herself stumbling around in a labryrinthian maze of unknown quantities that make up Broadway.
Warner Bros. have entrusted the direction of "A Broadway Butterfly" to William Beaudine, while Darryl Francis Zanuck is responsible for the story and adaptation.
County crews will be at work on the Mill Creek Road to Big Bear Lake on or about May 1, and this road will be put in good shape for the opening of the fishing season. The Mill Creek road is still administered by the county, but there are indications that it may be taken over by the state. A movement is on foot for the gradual pavement of the Mill Creek Road. It is now paved from the mouth of the Canyon to the first control.

JACKI COOGAN AT CALIFORNIA
Tonight is the final showing of Jackie Coogan in "The Rag Man," a comedy of New York life by Willard Mack. An Irish-American citizen who becomes partner of a Jewish rag man, Jackie was never more amusing and the capacity crowds last night at the first showing were unanimous in their declarations that it is the best picture that Jackie has appeared in.
There are also five snappy acts of high class Vaudeville including "Frolic Land" a happy combination of songs, dances and instrumental numbers with a lot of good hearty laughs and featuring the famous eastern comedian, "Bob Petticord."
From Laguna to San Juan by the Sea is a fairly good narrow dirt road. Plans and specifications are now being prepared by the State Highway Commission for graveling and grading this section; however this contract will not be finished until some time early in 1926.
