Your Cross Word Puzzle
HOW TO SOLVE THE CROSS WORD PUZZLE
The way to solve the Cross Word Puzzle is to fill in the white squares of the diagram with the words which agree with the accompanying definitions. The definitions are numbered to correspond with the numbers on the diagram.
Any word defined in the text under "HORIZONTAL" will begin at its number, shown on the diagram, and will extend all the way across to the first black space to the right of that number. That is, the word must begin in the square that contains its identifying number, and extend as far as the white squares continue uninterruptedly.
Any word defined under "VERTICAL" will also begin in the white space that contains its number, but will extend downward as far as the white spaces remain uninterruptedly.
PISTOL SHOOTERS WILL ORGANIZE
Steps have been taken to organize an Orange-co. Pistol Shooters Ass'n., embracing all the police departments in the county, with Claude Rogers, Santa Ana police chief, as captain, and C. B. Nichols of Anaheim and O. W. Wilson of Fullerton on the board of directors. It is planned to hold a contest once a month at Orange-co. park with the tea high men forming the county team for that month.
Chief Nichols says that pistol practice will be in the future be part of the work of Anaheim policemen, who will be required to take target practice twice a week. He thinks this essential because a policeman, he said, might be called upon to fire in a crowded street some time, and he must be competent to do it or else not do it.
Fullerton plans to use Anaheim's range for target practice.

LOS ANGELES, April 22 — W.R. Attison, alleged ting-leader of a band of wool thieves said to have robbed farmers in the upper San Joaquin valley of thousands of dollars worth of wool, was held in county jail here today awaiting transportation to Kern-co for trial.
Attison was arrested while delivering a truck-load of wool, which officers claim he and his gang gathered in a systematic robbery of Kern-co sheep owners. Attison, it was said, "bootlegged" his wool at 1 cents a pound, about 12 cents below market price.
