The C. of C., Dru Secre Lee made all arrangements with Admiral Countez of the combined Atlantic and Pacific fleet through the San Pedro C. of C. About 18 cars left at 8 o'clock with about 100 children and a number of parents under the charge of E. C. Basten and Wm. Bielefeldt. Lancheon was prepared and carried along so it was one large jolly picnic. Everyone enjoyed it to the utmost. At the recent school election H. S. Leavitt and Louis Jacobsen were unanimously elected to succeed themselves. Mr. Leavitt has served the community as clerk of the school board six years while Louis Jacobsen has served seven years. Louis Jacobsen and family motored to San Pedro Friday to see the fleet steam out of the harbor on their way to Honolulu. The Jolly Nine had their regular monthly dinner and evening at cards on Friday evening. Dinner was enjoyed at the Elks' club, afterward the jolly company adjourned to the home of Dr. and Mrs. Chas. O. Petty in Fullerton. High score was awarded to Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner and low to Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Forster at the conclusion of a very happy evening. Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Bradford of Newport Beach were guests of the club. The work on the line is expected to start this week and will be rushed through as fast as possible. The contract gives 37 working days in which to complete the work. When this is completed the lateral lines on the south of Santa Fe ave can all be used. The regular meetings of the Sanitary board are held the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. in the C. of C. hall and the public is cordially invited to attend. Mrs. H. C. Foss and Mrs. R. Coombs entertained in honor of Mrs. Oscar Glese of Los Angeles Friday afternoon. The pretty living room was a booster of spring flowers while in the center of the room was an appropriately decorated cradle containing many beautiful gifts which the surprised honoree delightedly opened.
