A.A.A. WILL BOSS 1925 RUN
Economy Contest to Yosemite Under Its Auspices First Time
LOS ANGELES, March 28.—Being designated for the first time in its eight years' history as a regulation A. A. A. stock car event, and featuring the innovation of a class for 8-cylinder cars, the annual Los Angeles-Camp Curry, Yosemite, Economy Run, scheduled for May 22-223, looms on the near automotive horizon.
Plans providing for these changes were perfected a few days ago in a special meeting here with Geo. Stephenson and Hal Weller, A. A. A. officials, and local newspaper and publicity men.
The previous economy runs has had A. A. A. supervision, they have been designated by that body as "non-stock events for the reason that such rules as three

Price regulation in that case would be determined by the state railroad commission. Senator Inman declared that the tax could be pass dif a reasonable budget were submitted by the highway commission.
Another feature of the day was the passage by the Senate of resolutions requesting the state highway commission to recommend the highways to be improved in the next two years and the amounts to be expended upon them.
The commission at present must supply the Senate with any information it has.
An attack on Governor Richardson and Senator Breed was made by Senator Inman regarding their statement that allocation of roads to be improved would mean a scramble for roads.
FREE GAS, FREE OIL AT SPERBER'S TODAY
Free gas and free oil will be given away by William Sperber, Jr., today, at his service station, corner of Helena and Center-sts.
With every five gallons of gas one gallon will be added without cost, while anybody who has his crankcase drained will be given one quart of any oil he wants free.
The latter service costs nothing and the offer will continue daily indefinitely.

These tires are sound all thru well made of the best materials available. Their mileage is as remakable as their trade-in value.

In the new plan it is proposed that if it is determined that State Highway Commission not have sufficient funds to finance new construction awaitting the bond money, and cash could be appropriated from the general tax fund other methods approved by legislature. The plan is intended with the widespread sentiment that new highway construction is a capital investment should be assessed against citizens, rather than only operators of automobiles.
The Chamberlin-Sample also provides for the improvement of allocating the money asked of the people to specific improvements, so it will be definitely known advance just how the raised will be expended and may be expected in the way completing the state highway system as outlined in the plan.

Never before has there been an organization and the necessary manufacturing facilities capable of producing at anywhere near the low Maxwell price such speed and power, economy and absence of vibration in a 4-cylinder car.
Chrysler engineers designed and Maxwell craftsmen have built into the good Maxwell a smoothness and flexibility heretofore thought impossible with four cylinders.
They have combined with this unprecedented smoothness a speed of 58 miles per hour and a flashing acceleration of 5 to 25 miles in 8 seconds. They have engineered into this motor a gasoline economy of 25 m³ to the gallon, and an upkeep economy which brings replacement and repair cost close to the zero mark.

ISOLATOR MAKES VESTA DISTINCTIVE
Compare any two makes of tires, except Vesta, and you find them very similar. Compare any other make of battery with Vesta and a remarkable difference will be quickly observed.
This great difference, while truly a Vesta triumph, is the lator which firmly and locks the plates apart.
Ordinary battery construct permits plates to twist and flex. The isolators—by locking plates apart at the four corners prevent short circuits thru ling, and materially increase life of the battery. Owing to circulation the tendency to heat is reduced. It is a sure guarantee new battery at the end of an average repair job.

Motorist Alone Would Pay for New Highway Construction
Just what will happen to the average motorist in increased taxes in the event the proposed state legislation goes through is causing some interesting speculation in motoring circles, according to reports reaching the Auto Club of So. Calif.
One interested motorist wants to know if it is true that 67% of his state taxes will go to highways that he will seldom use, if ever.
He comes very near to sounding out the situation, according to the figures, as under the proposed tax laws, the license fee will be increased $2 and an addition of one cent made to the present two cents gasoline tax.

RAIN IS TOUGH UPON BATTERIES
Rainy weather is kind of tough on storage batteries, and this is especially true in the autumn when there is a great deal of rain and occasionally a frosty night or two.
The battery, tucked away under the floor boards is in a fine position to get a shower bath of dirty water from road puddles every time the wheels hit one. Eventually the water deposits a film of dirt over the top of the cells which works up between the terminal connections unless they are tight.
While no serious damage will result from an accumulation of dirt on top of the battery," says A. Bevillard of the Anaheim ignition Depot. Willard dealer here, "the dirt is not doing the battery and good either. Eventually a green-blue and yellow deposit will form around the terminals and cause starting and lighting trouble, and may even necessitate replacement of the parts effected unless proper care is taken to keep the connections tight, free from corrosion and properly groomed."
The Department of Commerce will make a second survey of the stocks of tires in the hands of manufacturers and retailers as of April 1. Such surveys will take place hereafter each six months, it is announced.

The judgment of Walter P. Chrysler, president of the Chrysler Motor corporation, has again proven itself to be correct. When the factory began production over a year ago he decided that 20 percent of the cars built were to be roadsters. However, there was some speculation as to whether this quantity would be sold, but, according to J. A. Craig of the Follette Motor Sales company, Anaheim Chrysler and Maxwell dealers, the factory reports it has been oversold for several months on this model.
"Mr. Chrysler in his far-sightedness soon saw there was also a demand for an enclosed type similar to the roadster. Accordingly, he conferred with executives of the Fisher Body corporation and shortly afterward the Chrysler Royal coupe, a swagger model, was added to the increasingly popular Chrysler line."
At least this is the way Mr. Craig explains the situation. Continuing on his subject, he declared "The Royal coupe incorporates the dashing lines which have made the roadster popular, with the comfort and individuality of the two-passenger closed car. One feature which has found much favor with motorists is the patent leather top. The roomy interior seats three persons comfortably while the rumble, with space for two, is an added accommodation."
