"LOVE AND GLORY?" COMES TO UNITED
"Love and Glory" the Universal Jewel production, which will be shown at the United Theatre tonight and tomorrow presents a distinct novelty in the way of screen entertainment in that its characters live through a 50-year lapse of time.
The three featured players, portrayed by Charles De Roche, Wallace McDonald and Madge Bellamy, are introduced in the story as young folks in a French village. In the closing scenes of the film play they appear in the make-up of persons 70 years of age. So real is the transfiguration that it is said to be difficult to believe that the characters are portrayed

According to recent statistics each year about 90 per cent of us have from one to three "colds," lasting from three to five days. If you employ 100 or 1,000 people, your annual loss chargeable to "colds," will represent a neat figure.
Chronic dyspepsia usually means ulcer or cancer of the stomach, definite information regarding which can be obtained from X-ray pictures.

SUGGESTIONS
A great convenience in the sick room, especially where medicine must be dropped from a bottle, is a spoon with a bent handle, like a baby's spoon. It may be set down when filled, if necessary, leaving both of the nurse's hands free.
Kitchen pads or kitchen pockets is the name for the oilcloth novelty that is divided into three compartments. One for the penellone for the paper pad, one for the scissors. Two bone rings are fastened at the two upper corners of the pocket to the wall. A band of oilcloth reaching from one corner of the top to the other is strung with a spool or two thread.

In "Love's Wilderness," her latest National production, Corinne faces different situation. She is still "beauty in distress," however it is not because of her wealth. It is her comeliness which leads her into difficulty.

In wilds of Canada, where couple seek home, Corinne is afforded opportunity to display perhaps the most pretentious bit of tensely dramatic acting of her career. She is shown as an abandoned wife,

Kitchen pads or kitchen pockets is the name for the oilcloth novelty that is divided into three compartments. One for the penell, one for the paper pad, one for the scissors. Two bone rings are fastened at the two upper corners of the pocket to the wall. A band of oilcloth reaching from one corner of the top to the other is strung with a spool or two of thread.
Peanut butter and maple sandwiches are a change for the children's lunches. The ingredients are, thin slices of white or brown bread, buttered, shaved maple sugar, peanut butter. Spread one slice of the buttered bread with a layer of peanut butter, the second slice with shaved maple sugar. Press the slices together.
When pressing plaited skirts one woman found that by using glass-topped picture tacks, to keep the plats down, tacking the ends of the pleats to the ironing board as she went along, she could press smoothly and there was no danger of the tacks catching on hands or material as ordinary pins are apt to do.
It is a good thing for every woman to know how to stop an automobile, even though she never drives. Should the driver become suddenly ill she might avoid danger by bringing the car to a standstill.
But little hard cleaning is necessary for the lower surface of pots and pans if the chief source of smoke is removed—soot in the gas burners of the kitchen stove. Three tablespoons of lye and three tablespoons of strong washing powder added to a tub of boiling water makes a good solution and boiled for two or three minutes. If the burners are shocked up with food that has boiled over, a wire brush will be found useful. After removing from the water they should be drained, readjusted in the stove and the gas lithed in order thoroughly to dry them out.
In pneumonia Nature leaves little for the physician to do.
The story, written by Evelyn Campbell, a well known writer, shows Corinne as belle of a little Louisiana town and engaged explorer. She tires of waiting for him to return, and finally elopes with comparative stranger.
In wilds of Canada, where couple seek home, Corinne is afforded opportunity to display perhaps the most pretentious bit of tensely dramatic acting of her career. She is shown as an abandoned wife, fighting for life in blinding blizzard.
Later, in a sequence of elaborate scenes depicting the South Sea islands, she returns to her gorgeous costumes, for which she is noted, and again rises to emotional heights when she discovers herself bigamously married.
The picture will be at the California Theater Wednesday and Thursday.
A Lige Comley Comedy "Wild Game" and International News completes a very good program.
Tonight is final times for "A Thief in Paradise" with Doris Kenyon, Alleen Pringle and Roland Coleman in leading roles. Geo. E. Turner, concert organist, is playing special screen song.
