SOCIETY DOZEN CENTRAL TEACHERS GIVE IRISH PARTY FOLLOWING the custom of monthly social gatherings among local grammar teachers, Central school teachers were hostesses last evening at a St. Patrick's day parade with invitations accepted by everyone of the 75 teachers who possibly could be there, although sickness detained a few of the number. The party was held in the Control kindergarten where all decorations were in the motif dear to Ireland. The committee, composed of the Misses Hohlfeiter, Wenziaff and Dumke, did themselves proud. After greetings all were invited to listen in on the radio Irish program from Los Angeles, over the excellent six-tube set lent for the occasion by Joseph Leib. Switching to KHJ, as all thought, imagine the surprise to hear "Uncle John" giving a list of burlesque news items and experiences concerning many of the party guests. It was later learned that Floyd Curtis was the Uncle John, and had been "broadcasting" from a concealed "station" in an adjoining room. Enjoyable stunts were put on by sides designated as green and white, each counting so many points. "The Rocky Road to Dunlin" was delineated by some of the most dignified of the pedagogues who boarded the kiddle cars provided and rode with to more or less victorious glory. "Changing tire (attire)" was a bizarre stunt over which the participants took off then put on their coats, ties and collars in record time. Filling Special Lenten services will be held this evening at 1 o'clock in Glace Lutheran church, corner of Elm and Palm-sts, with the new pastor, the Rev. O. A. Pischer and Mrs. Pischer, as special guesta Rev. H. W. Meyer of Pasadena will deliver the sermon. Kites of installation as pastor will be conferred upon Rev. Pischer Sunday at 3 p.m., the Revs. G. Tanscherl of Santa Ana, and J. H. Peters, ex-pastor of Grace church of Los Angeles, and H. W. Meyer, of Pasadena, taking part in the service. Reception for Prelate Elaborate plans are being made by St. Joseph's church, of Santa Ana, for the reception of Bishop McGovern, of Cheyenne, Wyo, who is due to arrive Saturday afternoon. The prelate comes to Santa Ana to officiate at the confirmation exercises to be held at that time. DINNER PARTY FOR HUSBAND ON NOTABLE DAY SOC—DINNER PARTY C has THE secret is out! "Changing the attire" was a bizarre stunt over which the participants took off then put on their coats, ties and collars in record time. Filling the roodater was a contest by the ladies. The Irish buggy race, in which Irish spuds were taken joy rides in toy wheelbarrows was also a persecution producing stunt. Writing auto limiterks brought crowns of glory to E. H. Metcalf, Miss Pierce and others. A base ball game conducted with a score board and dollars concluded the stunt program and brought victory to the white side, captained by Mr. Carl Harpster, of Intermediate school, with Miss Betty Kenshaw of Lincoln school, captaining the greens, a close second. Dellecious luncheon put everyone singing with Miss Mutchler at the piano. The hostesses of the evening were the Meadames Floyd Curtis, Lulu Garison, Bernice Schacht, Joan Burgert, the Miners Mary Smith, Pamela Palm, Vida Hohlfelter, Myra Wendt, Anna Clark, Lorena Dumke, Marion Mutchler and Jon Robertson. Gold, of Anaheim, and Mrs. Julia Bowen, of Los Angeles with Rev. Leon L. Myers officiating. The ceremony occurred at 3 p.m. as the principal stood on the front steps of what was formerly the Anaheim Sugar factory, now occupied by the Crystal Chemical company. Fourteen years ago Mr. Gould carried the responsibility for the construction of this building and remained with the sugar company until it changed hands. He then went to Long Beach where he was employed for a time but has now returned to the building in which he has so deep an interest, as night watchman for the chemical empany. The ceremony was attended only by close friends of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Rose, of Los Angeles, and James Hurley, friend of the groom. A short honeymoon journey will precede the establishment of their new home in Anaheim, where Mr. Gould will again take up the duties at the building he has become to love. Happily Greet President Mrs. Ida J. Hughes, pale but "peppy," was again in the president's chair in regnant W. Rt C meeting yesterday, for the first time since her painful accident two months ago in which she received broken bones and other injuries. Her presence was marked general rejoicing and a huge bouquet of carnations was presented by the corps. The president of Orange corps, Mrs. Gladys McDonald, and three members, the Mesdames Daisy Slippon, Nieta Allen and Mattie Starkey, were guests, as well as Constance Telmadge a Learning to Love CONSTANCE TALMADGE - LEARNING TO LOVE HEART AND HOME PROBLEMS ELIZABETH THOMPSON A CHANGED HUSBAND Dear Mrs. Thompson, and my husband been married nine months of the time we got to go on not work. He makes all kinds of excuses to lay off work for three or four days and he lies to me. He wants to run off home whenever he feels like it whether we have money or not and he doesn't carr if I go or not. We are living with my mother and paying board and he owes her board. Before we married he was so refined and now he says anything and doesn't care how he looks. He tenses me until I could cry, and he is very rough. There are no children. I feel I have to decide in a month because my mother is going to get a divorce this full and I think a great deal of my mother My husband says he loves me, but I don't know. I love him too much and it would be hard for me to leave him, but if it is the best I want to. At first he gave me all the money and now he pays the board and he gives me $5 every two weeks. GOOD-Looking. Probably one of your difficulties is the fact that you live with your mother and have no home of your own. Now that your mother is getting a divorce, tell your husband that you want to go to housekeeping. The responsibility will be good for him and he may be very much happier in the home of his own. If he refuses, really the only thing for you to do is to leave him. A boy of 22 has a chance to improve if he is put on his mettle, but if he leans on you and does into have responsibility, he will remain weak and nervous. GIRLS CLASS MEETING Although the attendance at party of the class tutor Ms. S. Collins, in the Presbyterian Sunday school was somewhat lenient through illness or rehearsal the measure will not diminish when the girls gathered at the home of Miss Thelma Schlotte Monday evening. Decorations were in keeping with St. Patrick's day, and the table was particularly pretty. Guessing games were played for a time, Mrs. Collins being most unaware winner of the prize. Placards had questions which must be answered with something green, Paris green, Bowling Green etc. The menu carried so far a possible the color motif. Howe FULLER NATAL DAY WITH PARTY IN PARK ANAHEIM City park was the scene of a most delightful birthday luncheon party yesterday afternoon. The direct cause of this gathering was Mrs. Rose Gowdy, of North Palm-set, who began her career on St. Patrick's day in the latter part of the last century, and feels very "choice" of the day, hence these annual merry makings. All reported a good time. The color scheme—green and white—was everywhere in evidence. Many beautiful gifts, as well as big baskets of spring flowers and birthday cake spoke eloquently of Erin's refreshing hues. After luncheon, to which all did ample justice, the remainder of the afternoon was spent in various annuements, including foot races, storytelling and viewing interesting family histories—illustrated. In the foot races the honored guest exhibited special stunts and proved her skill has not suffered any slowing up since she was 16. Altogether, it was a very satisfactory afternoon, which all hope to repeat on March 17, 1925. Following is the guest list at the happy party: the Mesdames Ella Gibson, Maria Arias, Opal Rimpan, Jessie Woods, Elyn Hurley, E. A. Deverell, H. L. Ziegencuss, Parl Bidwell, Rose Gowdy—and the miniatures, Marlin, Donald, and Robert Rimpan, Thelma Woods, and Morris Bidwell, Jr. Miss Phoebe J.
