Your Cross Word Puzzle
HOW TO SOLVE THE CROSS WORD PUZZLE
The way to solve the Cross Word Puzzle is to fill in the white squares of the diagram with the words which agree with the accom-panying definitions. The definitions are numbered to correspond with the numbers on the diagram.
Any word defined in the text under "Horizontal" will begin at its number, shown on the diagram, and will extend all the way across to the first black space to the right of that number. That is, the word must begin in the square that contains its identifying number and extend as far as the white squares continue uninterruptedly.
Any word defined under "Vertical" will also begin in the white space that contains its number, but will extend downward as far as the white spaces remain uninterruptedly.
HI SCHOOL WILL GIVE BLUE MOON
Tustin, Garden Grove and Pasadena high schools have chosen "Once in a Blue Moon" their school productions this year.
Friday, the 13th, will be a lucky day for Anaheim. On the evening the music department of the high school will present the light opera selection. A large number of students are participating. The Missa L. Bickle D. Chalker, M. Conover and Jacques are ably assisting Joshua Williams to make production success.
This is the second operetta Joshua Williams, of the musical department, has presented Anaheim. Last year the Gypsy Rover met with much success.
All parents and patrons of the high school are invited Friday evening at the auditorium to witness the rising of the Blue Moon.

INDIAN FOLLIES COMING TO CALIF.
For Friday and Saturday in addition to four other acts of classy vaudville the California has booked a big special act as a headliner. "The Indian Follies" is perhaps the only one of its kind on the stage today. By special arrangement these Redmen and Indian girls have been secured to appear before vaudville audiences in their own original follies.
Each Indian is a talented artist whose ability would fit them for a Broadway production.
"Inez From Hollywood," with Anna Q. Nilsson and Lewis Stone, in the leading roles, is the picture attraction for Friday and Saturday.
It may be well in passing to observe that the typhoid cyst derived its infection from some carrion man.

SOLUTION OF YESTERDAY'S PUZZLE
GYMNASTIC IE OCTTO R E T H R DEAR BEAN SO AN S EC NC S PAL H EST RV LIP EA YESTERDAY
Mrs. Elizabeth Sheffield and her twin daughters are attending the Chicago Normal college together.
By S. W. STRAUS, President
American Society for Thriftiness
A tangible illustration of the need of more widespread intents thrift education is furnished by America's fire record.
The actuaries bureau of the National Board of Fire Underwriters has just completed a tabulation that reveals truly amazing conditions. The latest available complete figures are those for 15 when our fire losses totalled excess of $685,000,000.
Insurance experts tell us that 75 per cent of those fires we due to sheer carlessness. They moans that we destroyed $400,000 worth of buildings the lack of care. Certainly a most enviable record of thriftlessness.
Let us translate these figures into terms that are more easily comprehended. In 1928 the building record in this country was $5,500,000,000. Thus for every 14 new buildings erected in the United States we burn down building through absolute carelessness.
Some statisticians have put average cost of a home at $55 with an additional like amount for the necessary stores, offices buildings, schools and other structures. This would mean that annual fire loss is equal to housing facilities of a city of 50,000 homes with a population more than 200,000 inhabitants.
On this basis the careless structure of property every year in this country is equal to all buildings in a city of 150,000 habitants.
There is certainly food for flection here.
Let us have more thrift education and less fires.
A stranger who was rather entered a little Scottish chuck He seated himself in a front seat and from a capacious pocket threw an ear trumpet. This he placed upon his knee, preparatory to it when the service began. elder of the church who had seen an ear trumpet before waved the stranger with grave euclon. When the minister entered the man lifted the trumpet from his knee. Before he could get any higher he felt a tap on his shoulder, and heard the indignate voice of the elder:
"One foot an' ye're oot!"
The late Senator Lodge talked one night at the beginning of World War, about German boasted victories.
"Germany's boasted victory winding up in holes in ground," he said, "remind me Mr. Smith."
Mr. Smith growled one night at the club:
"That Jenks is a fool."
"Jenka a fool? Why so?" he naked him.
"Why," complained Mr. Smith.
"I told him I boss my wife."

PROFESSOR NOODLES
Dear Professor:
I've read about this brand new car which runs on feet instead of tires. But if this car should get a jar and smash a foot—what then transpires?
(Henry Dearborn)
I pose if this car breaks a leg it will not matter very much!
A slight adjustment—and you'll peg right straight along on your spare crutch.
