Your Cross Word Puzzle
HOW TO SOLVE THE CROSS WORD PUZZLE
The way to solve the Cross Word Puzzle is to fill in the white squares of the diagram with the words which agree with the accompanying definitions. The definitions are numbered to correspond with the numbers on the diagram.
Any word defined in the text under "Hqrizontal" will begin at its number, shown on the diagram, and will extend all the way across to the first black space to the right of that number. That is, the word must begin in the square that contains its identifying number, and extend as far as the white squares continue uninterruptedly.
Any word defined under "Vertical" will also begin in the white space that contains its number, but will extend downward as far as the white spaces remain uninterruptedly.

U. S. RESCUE BOATS
SHANGHAI, Feb. 21—A message late tonight from Kwel Chow Fu reported the American steamer Chi Chuan, her commander, Captain Hawley and American passengers detained by the military authorities have been released.
PEKING, Feb. 21—Low water in the Yangtse river today prevented the U. S. gunboats Elecano and Palos from proceeding to Kwel Chow Fu to release Captain Hawley of the steamship Chichuen and the American passengers, detained by the militarists there. The incident was due to the drowning of a Chinese major and two soldiers whose sampan upset after they were refused passage on the Chi Chuen. The commanding officer of the Elecano with a guard started from Washington on board a merchant vessel for Kwel Chow Fu.

PROFESSOR NOODLES
I wish to travel to places I have never seen!
Dear Professor:
Our darling little daughter Flo desires to take a trip abroad. And we must humor her although it’s more than we can well afford. This trip will prove a rest, she’s sure, from hardships of the social whirl. So won’t you please suggest a tour adapted for a modern girl?
Mr. & Mrs. Goof
If darling Flo desires to roam, then I’d prescribe for this sad case, the humble kitchen in your home—I'm sure she's never seen this place!
