February Traffic Fines to
Total Around $200
Against $1000
Further laxness in law enforcement is being witnessed in February, judging by fines handed out to offender in city recorder's court by Judge Charley Kuchel. Up to the middle of this morning only $160 had been collected for traffic infractions of all sorts, which is at the rate of a little more than $200 for the month, compared with monthly averages of $1,000 during the former regime.
This $160 is out of a total of $740 collected in the city recorder's court alone.
Speeding at intersections is still a common offense in Anaheim, particularly in the business sections, where sometimes women and children find it difficult to cross safely.
Infractions of the parking ordinance are not so frequent, accord-

4 NEW TRACTORS
SOLD IN 2 WEEKS
Disposal of four new Fordson tractors delivered since Feb. 1 is announced by Ira B. Hodgkins, manager for Sid McGraw, Ford, Fordson and Lincoln distributor.
McGraw expects another carload of ten tractors shortly, says Hodgkins.
Two new cars, in addition, and two new tractors were delivered early this week.
Ford coupes are becoming popular among the wives of Anaheim business men, according to Hodgkins. The purchasers find them a much more convenient car for town use than heavier vehicles.
The simplicity of operation of the Ford is appealing to all sorts of people, Hodgkins declares. Recently it required only an hour for Hodgkins to teach a man how to drive a Ford. This man had never

Boost in Gas Not Meant To Hinder Higher State Tax
Coming back at Senator Brewer who charged that the Standard Co., had raised the price of gas order to check the proposed bond in the state gas tax, the oil company has issued this statement: "Nothing could be further from the facts. The reasons for the increase are simple and follow fundamental laws of economics." "Gasoline and crude oil as relied upon their markets differ in no serious respect from other commodities. Any commodity will naturally seek its highest market. To recent material increases in price of both crude oil and gas line in the United States ease the Rocky Mountains, these products can move from California those markets to advantage.
New York today the retail price of gasoline (without tax) is 25 cents per gallon.
CROWELL'S USED CAR SUPPLY GROWS
H. F. Crowell now has on hand some 30 used cars of many different makes suitable for a variety of purses, at his market on North Los Angeles-st.
Crowell, it may be remembered, is representing several other dealers in the city, and the number of cars on hand has been steadily increasing, but he has never had so many before, despite a pretty good sales business.
He calls attention of ranchers to the fact that he is glad to take over the cars which they want to sell. He declared that there were a large number of cars in country barns and garages which were being used little or not at all and which the owners probably would be pleased to sell.
MILLIONS EXPENDED ON CROSSINGS, ETC.
Nearly $9,000,000 of the gas tax money was extended in 1924 in the work of eliminating grade crossings, repairing bridges, widening roads and thickening pavements, according to the state highway commission. Much attention was paid to the realignment and shortening of the Coast route from San Diego to Los Angeles.
Two new cars, in addition, and two new tractors were delivered early this week.

This man had never driven a car of any kind before. At the close of the hour he could drive in or back out of driveways and garages.
USED CHEVROLETS IN GOOD DEMAND
Manager Bob Anton of Frank P. Taggart's used car market had sold 12 cars up to Wednesday, not counting three cars still to be delivered, indicating that February may easily prove a better month than either December or January when 18 and 18-20, respectively were disposed of.
Anton, who does a particularly good business with the Mexicans, when they are working, expects to be more active still when picking of oranges on a scale is resumed.
These cars are the accumulation from both Anaheim and Fullerton and offer some excellent opportunity values.
Craig and Hauser Ready for Business
Jimmy Craig and Bill Hauser, who have taken over the distribution here of the Chrysler and Maxwell cars, in the Follette Motor Sales Co., are rapidly getting things lined up for an active business year.
Craig formerly sold Marmons at Long Beach and Hauser has sold cars in Anaheim since 1914.
The reasons for the increase are simple and follow fundamental laws of economics.

To recent material increases in price of both crude oil and gasoline in the United States ease the Rocky Mountains, these products can move from California those markets to advantage. New York today the retail price of gasoline (without tax) is 2 cents per gallon, and New York at a cost of less 2½ cents per gallon. It is not anyone familiar with element commerce that a disparity cents per gallon in the value this product at one point as paired with another, will result the flow of the product from lower to higher market. Establishes an inevitable relationship."
"It is estimated that California consumes less than 50% of gasoline it produces, hence manufacturers here are compelled to seek other markets for a proportion of their product. Apparent, therefore, that California cannot regulate the price gasoline for tre United States the other hand, the United States at large is not interested in California gasoline tax situation."

Daylight enforcement of the headlight provisions of the 1923 California Motor Vehicle Act will be dropped, according to Will H. Marsh, Chief of the Division of Motor Vehicles. Vehicles operated only by day will not be required to be equipped as are those operated partly by night.
THIS "B" BATTERY LASTS FOREVER
Why should it be necessary to continue buying radio "B" batteries about every so often, as so many radio owners are doing? Would it not be economy to purchase a "B" battery that will last perhaps forever? We have reference to the rechargeable "B" battery of which there are many kinds of various makes upon the market today, stated Floyd West of West Bros., battery experts and dealers of this city. To obtain the best value one should investigate the past and present reputation of the manufacture of any commodity. This course, is true of the storage battery business in as much as there are many inferior makes of storage batteries upon the market today, both of the "A" and "B" type. A good article is always imitated, but a manufacturer of a poor or inferior product eventually passes "out of the picture. Unfortunately this does not happen until many people have taken advantage of. The Vesta Battery corporation, one of the largest manufacturers have been

Increase 25 Per Cent in 1924 Over 1923 Report Says
Exports of autos and automotive products to foreign countries now are at the rate of around $221,-000,000 annually, according to Department of Commerce figures released this week at Washington. That was the total of 1924 and the rate is if anything still higher now, figured by weeks, or $4,600,-000 per week.
Automotive products of all kinds stand third among commodities, unmanufactured cotton and mineral oil alone exceeding them in value.
The increase in 1924 over 1923 of automotive products were nearly 25 per cent. The value of such products shipped abroad in proportion to the total produced was 6.5 per cent in 1924, compared with 5.3 in 1923.

The reasons for the increase in simple and follow the mental laws of economics. Cotton and crude oil as related to their markets differ in no respect from other commodities. Any commodity will necessitate its highest market. Due to material increases in the cost of both crude oil and gasoline, the United States east of Rocky Mountain, these products move from California to markets to advantage. In York today the retail priceoline (without tax) is 23½ per gallon, and New York largest gasoline market in world. In Los Angeles the price of gasoline (without tax) is today 16½ cents per gallon. Los Angeles is the largesting point for gasoline on the Coast. Gasoline can be moved from Los Angeles New York at a cost of less than cents per gallon. It is clear you familiar with elementary science that a disparity of 5 per gallon in the value of product at one point as compared with another, will result in low of the product from the to the higher market. This dishes an inevitable price relationship.
Is estimated that California times less than 50% of the line it produces, hence the manufacturers here are compelled to other markets for a large portion of their product. It is present, therefore, that California cannot regulate the price of line for the United States. On other hand, the United States large is not interested in the California gasoline tax situation. The increased prices which this company also announced it would for crude oil were prompted by same economic conditions as pointed out above. In his moment Senator Breed ignores advanced cost of the raw material, of which the company is the best purchaser in the State of California.

DUCO IS DECLARED
COTTON DERIVATIVE
AUTO SECTION 9
While we all may know that perfumes, dyes, flavor extracts, headache powders and explosives may be secured from coal tar, few realize that cotton serves almost as many unusual purposes. Ten chances to one the seat we sit on in out automobile is "doped" to imitate leather with a cotton product. The curtain lights and the sun visor are probably made from cotton. A liquid cotton derivative may be used to seal the inside of the crank and gear case. The coating on the top is another form of cotton. Many of the accessories will be coated with an enamel made from cotton.
But the most astonishing recent use of cotton was the discovery by chemists that a product with cotton as a base could be used to finish the entire body of an automobile, outlasting ordinary finishes by years. This product, called Duco, is one of the outstanding sensations of the automobile world and has already been adopted as a standard finish by many of the largest manufacturers.
Duco is made from a purified cotton which is put into a liquid form by the action of various solvents. It must be applied by a pneumatic spraying machine. Among its characteristics are waterproofness, hardness and rapid drying. It is now being used in hundreds of stations all over the country for refinishing automobiles. Locally, it is being used by Willetts & Hochull, who declare the new finish actually lives for 000 per week.

250 Mile Classic to Be Feature
Sunday's 250-mile speed classic at Culver City will bring together a score of the fastest drivers in the game, according to the list of official entries which appears below. Twenty-five thousand dollars in prizes has been offered to the daredevil.
Practice scores made this week show that there will be the speediest kind of going tomorrow. For example, Hill and Hartz drove a lap in 33 1-5 seconds or 135.5 mile an hour—not in competition.
Tommy Milton has been a lea spectacular driver, but is always to be feared.
Dr. W. E. Shattue qualified over such veterans as Cooper, DePalma and DePaolo at 35 2-5 seconds or 127.1 miles an hour.
Cliff Durant would have shown some speed but for the fact that he broke a connecting rod in his front-drive car.

The brakes of the Nash are of the mechanical type.
Nash engineers have made and adjusted the brakes so that 60 per cent of the pressure is applied to the rear brakes and 40 to the front. The rear wheels receive the braking pressure first, so that steering control of the front wheels is possible.
The front brakes are of the internal expansion sort and have a double brake shoe.
BUICK AMBULANCE RED CROSS EXHIBIT
Resting peacefully among the relics of the war at national headquarters of the American Red Cross, an old Buick ambulance stands on permanent exhibit, as evidence of faithful service of the allies.
It has every right to be proud, for it served during the entire period of the war from 1914 to 1918. Day after day, month after month, it rushed back and forth between the first aid stations near the front line trenches and the clearing stations on the edge of the zone of fire.
The Buick stock chassis saw its first real service with the Norton-Harges Unit, Section 7, according to the American Red Cross. This organization was one of the early ambulance units to work with the French army before the United States entered the war. From 1914 to December, 1917, the car
