SKELETON OF B.B. MAY RATTLE EAST
NEW YORK, Feb. 13.—The skeleton in baseball's family closet will be tenderly laid to rest within the next 48 hours and thereafter will rattle no more. Judge Landis will officiate at the obsequies and they will be simple affecting and final. He will arrive in this city on Sunday morning and at the rattle conference with the district attorney a decision will be reached as to whether er Jimmy O'Connell shall be joined further for his part in the affair or permitted to go his future way unmolested.
Landis' attitude has been forced as one of tolerance and emency toward O'Connell, whose loss in food and honor has been deemed sufficient to cover his offense.
Landis says the word the skeleton will have rattled its last. As matters stand the district attorney has let it be known that he will be guided by Landis in his future action if any. He stands ready.

Johnny Dundee ran out on battle with Fred Bertonneel Paris to rush home to claim world's lightweight champions as Benny Leonard's retirement was reported.
Which brings two thoughts.
What assurance will the motor have who matches Dunce as "champion", that Dundee will not run out on him?
And if Dundee is acclaim champion, as he desires to how will he explain sneaking of the Bretonnel affair?
A victory over Bretonnel, French star, would have helped him establish his claim to Hard's title. Why Dundee hurry?

The Anaheim B and C class casaba teams won both their games here yesterday afternoon against Orange, the scores being 30-9 and 19-5, respectively.
This afternoon the varsity plays at Orange.
The other two league games today are to be Huntington Beach against Capistrano and Tustin against Garden Grove.
There was a practice track meet against Fullerton there yesterday, but Coach A. E. Fitzmorris took only five or six men, of whom Dumke was the star, taking in the discus throw, second in the shotput and second in the high hurdles.
Practice in baseball continues as regularly as possible.
The next girls' baseball team will be played Tuesday here against Downey.
Wednesday afternoon the girls' hockey team will play Fullerton.
On the 27th Anaheim will play off Santa Ana at Fullerton. This will be the third game these two teams will have played, both the previous games having been ties—3-3 at Santa Ana and 2-2 here.
NURMI SHATTERS WORLD'S RECORDS
BUFFALO, Feb. 13.—Paavo Nurmi broke world records—not merely broke them by fractions of seconds, but shattered them by many full seconds in his special event of a meet staged last night by the 106th field artillery athletic case.
The records were the 2000-yard mark, which he reduced from 5:00 4-5 to 4:53 3-5; the 2000 meter mark which he cut from 5:33 to 5:22 2-5, and the mile and a quarter mark, which he dragged from
WORLD'S RECORDS
BUFFALO, Feb. 13.—Paavo Nurmi broke world records—not merely broke them by fractions of seconds, but shattered them by many full seconds in his special event of a meet staged last night by the 106th field artillery athletic case.
The records were the 2000-yard mark, which he reduced from 5:00 4-5 to 4:53 3-5; the 2000 meter mark which he cut from 5:33 to 5:22 2-5, and the mile and a quarter mark, which he dragged from 5:30 1-5 to 5:23 4-5, six and two fifth seconds faster than it had ever been run before.
But a short half hour after Nurmi's great run, Willie Ritola, his greatest rival and a countryman, broke all marks for the two miles, running the distance in 9:03 4-5, shattering the time made by Nurmi only last Saturday by the wide margin of 4 1-5 seconds.
It is a drama of the power of a woman's hate and the depth of her love, the heroine being a proud beauty, who, in a fit of plaque, toys with the love of a man who, behead her in station, worshipped her from afar until she gave him encouragement.
Miss Ballin's performance is splendid. She does not hesitate to make the heroine anything but lovely, when necessary, and therefore, when love and suffering temper her spirit, she is all the more adorable. Frank Mayo is a noble and long-suffering hero. Tom Santchey gives a delightful portrayal of a political boss of 1871 and J. P. Lockney and Mrs. Charles G. Craig as Mr. and Mrs. Leary, whose cow kicked over the laastern and started the Chicago fire, supply the humor. Others of note in the cast are Wanda Hawley, Wally Van, Lawson Butt, Harry T. Morey and many others.
British mauler, on to conquer more worlds. He is coming to the U.S. in search of bouts with weiterweights here, including Mickey Walker, the Shade dodging champ.

Rumor hath it now that Jack Hendricks, Red pilot, would like to land "Stuffy" McInnis, veteran first sacker of the Red Sox, Athletics, Indians and Braves. Looks as though Jack wasn't reading the papers while McInnis was with the Indians or after Stuffy with the Indians or after Stuffy joined Boston. McInnis is near the end of the road.

if Dundee is acclaimed as he desires to be, will he explain sneaking out Bretonnel affair?
victory over Bretonnel, the best, would have helped establish his claim to Leo title. Why Dundee's Holley Hollocher, once head of a permanent place in all's hall of fame as short and the Cubs, has announced that he expects to show his time form with the team season.
Holley was lost to the Cubs latter part of last year due to illness. He had been ailing months. He was not in good when he reported for the campaign. His illness was as ranging from stout trouble to a desire for money.
Returned to his home in Louis before the season ended since then has been taken care of himself in the getting back into good Interviewed the other day Holley said that he had been convinced the disease was by a nervous one, and was acting as such, substituting pure food and relaxation seventeen different kinds of cine.
Here hoping he has the right Holley's return to will make the Cub's a pen contender again.

The southpaw has McKew's word that he will get a chance if he can get his old bone into condition. Harper is to work out at Hot Springs, until the Giant squad resumes at Sarasota, Fla.
His recent victory over the Gran "Ted" Lewis in England spurred Tommy Milligan, can welterweight title.

"Dazzy" Vance has been offered a contract by the Robins that calls for a salary of $10,060 a year. Babe Ruth, Rogers Hornsby, and a dozen or more hitters of lesser fame, are drawing larger salaries than that right now Which indicates again the relative value of pitching and hitting in the eyes of the big league bosses.
Pat Monahan, scout for the St. Louis Browns, was held up recently and the robbers got $65 out of Pat's jeans. Now the St. Louis club is swamped with applications for jobs as ivory hunters.

STOCK MARKET IS REACTIONARY
NEW YORK, Feb. 13.—With the exception of the oil stocks, which sold higher on the favorable developments in the petroleum industry and a few of the specialty and industrial shares, in which there were pool operations, the stock market displayed a reactionary trend today. The market was most wholly devoid of the specular features which upset the calculations of traders in the previous sessions of the week and sent high priced stocks gyrating at the rate of 35 points a day.
It remained for the grain markets to provide most of the speculative fireworks. Wheat opened five to nine cents a bushel higher in Chicago and Winnipeg but corn was instantly subjected to profit taking and this upset the other trains which declined about six cents a bushel. With this low level as a new starting point they instituted another rally. An early budge in oil stocks followed reports that all of the important buyers of crude oil had marked up prices to the highest level for the movement. The reports were opportunistic for builts in the oil stocks, since most of these stocks had been soldon profit taking since the middle of last week and needed some such stimulus to attract new buying of them. As a rule the bills held their new gains and remained a strong spot until late in the session.
Persistent buying of American Can, which replaced Castiron Pipe as the speculative leader, sent the stock about five points up to the highest price of the year.
Motors were irregular with Geu. Motors declining to the lowest point since being placed on a six per cent dividend basis. Naah Motors down about 10 points and Studebaker steady.

GRAINS CLOSE IRREGULAR
CHICAGO, Feb. 13.—Grains eased up after a wild opening today and the close was irregular with wheat prices above Wednesday's close; corn generally lower and only fractional changes in oats. Wheat finished from 1% to 4% higher. Corn was down 1% to 1% at the close. Oats were up 1% to 1% down.

RICKARDS OFFERS DEMPSEY PERCENT
NEW YORK, Feb. 13.—Tex Rickard today denied a report that he had made Jack Dempsey a flat offer of $750,000 to meet Harry Wills in a heavyweight championship bout next Summer.
"I would be crazy to make such an offer," Rickard declared. "If Demberger boxes for me, it will be on a percentage basis. Jack Kearns and the champion understand this perfectly."
JAZZ ORCHESTRA AT CALIFORNIA
"Gilbert's Symphonic Syncopators," the jazz band booked for the California Theater, is one of the best aggregations of artists that it has been the good fortune of the California management to show.
These nine young chaps are all solo artists and under the leadership of A. Merrill Gilbert, who has conducted orchestras in the leading theaters of Los Angeles and New York, have organized a Jazz band that is different than the usual run.
They present a varied program, ranging from grand opera to jazz and also the popular songs of the day.
The members of the Giant-White Sox aggregations that toured Europe last fall are to receive medals from the French government. Probably for playing the full nine innings before those 20 Irishmen in Dublin.
Bill Klem, dean of National league umpires, says he may quit the diamond to sell Florida real estate. Bill will have to watch himself or he'll start telling customers where they can locate home plate instead of the garage.

TURNER TO PLAY SPECIAL MUSIC
ganist at the California Theater has arranged another great musical treat for lovers of good music for tomorrow only. In the new song he will introduce another innovation in presentation as the song instead of being shown on screens, is on a piece of motion picture film and is projected on the screen the same as a motion picture.
The title of this offering is "Most of All I Want Your Love" and was written by Harold Horne, directing manager of the Criterion Theater Los Angeles. This song has become immensely popular in Los Angeles, where it was just introduced a few weeks ago and made a decided hit right from the start.
