The move is aimed more at conviction of bootleggers than purchasers, said sponsors of the Recent Crimes Puts Arizona on Guard. PHOENIX, Feb. 6 — Alarmed over the deluge of crime that has swept Arizona the last few days, culminating in the shooting and death of Police Officer Haze Burch, who was shot down two nights ago by two men he had arrested, the state senate went on record today urging all citizens to respect the law and aid in the swift apprehension and punishment of offenders. The senate adopted a resolution deploring the recent attitude of public conscience over the situation and urged every one to cooperate in trying to stamp out erime. A new bill was also introduced in the house today, asking that from one to five years be added to the sentence of any person found guilty of committing a crime if a revolver is found in their possession at the time. OIL STATION THIEF GETS FIVE YEARS Elfoy Morris, 23, convicted of first-degree robbery in connection with the holdup of a Santa Ana oil station, today was sentenced by Superior Judge F. C. Drumm to not less than five years in San Quentin penitentiary. Donald Cameron, arrested with Morris, is facing a similar charge in Anaheim in connection with the holding up and robbing of D. G. There have been 202 deaths in the last week and 2500 cases have been reported. Physicians said despite deaths that the disease was errally mild in form and hoped to have it checked quietly.
