SECY. HUGHES DENIES U.S. OBLIGATED WASHINGTON, Jan. 20.—The denial by Secretary of State Hughes that the United States is "neither legally or morally" committed to help the allies enforce the Dawes reparations plan upon Germany by signing the Kellogg-Churchill agreement did not satisfy the senate irreconcilables today. They proceeded with their plans to pass a resolution tomorrow demanding "full information" concerning the much discussed Paris pact. The old anti-league forces regard Hughes' statement as simply "an unofficial interpretation" which European nations might or might not accept if matters came to a show down. The Johnson resolution requesting Hughes to furnish the Senate with a complete copy of the agreement, which is to be called up tomorrow, probably will be unaccompanied to demand specific information as to whether, before signing Ambassador Kellogg did or did not make a fullie effort to attach a reservation out of the operation of the agreement. Considerable mystery attaches to this reported reservation. Press dispatches from Paris asserted positively Kellogg made such a proposal and that it was promptly turned down by the allied republicans. SINGER Alvin L. In Shawnce, Okla., several years ago, city and county officers were collecting $2500 per week from 16 federal control costs billion. WASHINGTON, Jan. 20. Writing the closing chapter perhaps the greatest venture government into business ever tempted. Director General of Roads James G. Davis today ported to President Coolidge the federal war-time operation of the railroads had cost the American taxpayer more than one and half million dollars. The exact figure, as contained in the final report of the on-great transportation organization is $1,874,500,000. This stupendous total represents all losses—paid or estimated—curred during the 26 months federal control, and the claim sustained for the six months guaranty period which followed. The bulk of the loss came in actual operation costs. General Davis divided his furies into three groups, as follows: "The loss during federal operation," $1,123,500,000; the expense of the guaranty period (as emitted by the interstate commission), $536,000,000; the amount required to reimburse short lines under the transportation not (also estimated by the state commerce commission) $15,000,000." A remarkable adjustment of post-war claims of the carrier against the government is shown in the Davis report, however, tering counter claims, against roads, the railroad administration's ledger shows in the financial analysis a loss to the government of that score of but $48,574. —a sum slightly more than per cent of what the $1,913,302, the railroads originated. The final adjustment showcased $243,647,196 allowed creditor roads, and $195,072, collected from the debtor rods Separate settlements with 371 ING Hughes to furnish the senate with a complete copy of the agreement which is to be called up tomorrow, probably will be amended to demand specific information as to whether, before signing Ambassador Kellogg did or did not make a futile effort to attach a reservation put of the operation of the agreement. Considerable mystery attaches to this imported reservation. Press dispatches from Paris asserted positively Kellogg made such a proposal and that it was promptly turned down by the allied representatives on the ground that if the United States became a partner in every aspect of the pact. When the reported Kellogg reservation was called to the attention of the state department on Friday, it was denied flatly that Kellogg had proposed any such reservation. It said senate irreconcilables today, the United States is not committed to do anything but share in the proceeds of the Dawes annuities, they cannot understand why the representatives of Great Britain, France, Italy and Belgium objected to a statement to that effect being incorporated in the agreement. And if, on the other hand, Kellogg did not propose the reported reservation they want to know what assurance is contained in the agreement that the United States will not be called upon to help enforce the Dawes plan should Germany default. Senator Borah, Senator Johnson of California and Senator Reed of Missouri, all plan to speak on this point when the state department complies with the resolution demanding "full information." RECOGNIZE U. S. SEPARATE TREATY PARIS, Jan. 20.—The Baris reparations agreement not only does not entangle the United States in European affairs, but it is the first actual recognition by the European powers of America's separate peace treaty with Germany, it was declared today by a bishop authority. We have just succeeded in straightening out the serious entanglement arising from the conflict between Versailles and Berlin, this authority declared. The attacks of the American "reconcilables" against the Loews agreement are actually levelled against a hard-won allied recognition of the legitimacy of the "reconcilables own child," namely, the Berlin treaty." It was further said. It was pointed out that the Loews agreement treaty "the Verse." MAN-OF ACTION (Continued from Page One) the redlight district. Nowadays, with prohibition in the constitution, it's a case, in Orange county at least, of nabbing the Mexicans, but letting the "respectable" big folk get off. Doctors, druggists, boat owners, ranchers, etc., are rarely caught. In Shawnee, Okla., several years ago city and county officers were collecting $2500 per week from 16 joints. Bulgin went into the town, started a revival and "pulled the cap off" the whole works. Seven of the wets waited for him and spat all over him as he was on his way home. That was too much for Mrs. J. S. Norvell, who was conducting his women's work, and she ran with her horseship and insisted the seven in the faces without mercy. Being southerners, they didn't strike back at a woman. Mrs. Norvell has just returned from a tour of the principal colleges and schools of China. Bulgin was sued by the leaders of the wets in Shawnee for $230,000. The suit was quashed, and Bulgin had several of the principal wets sent to state's prison, from which they were pardoned last year by Governor Jack Walton, ousted former chief executive. The evangelist went next to Oklahoma City and cleaned that up the same way. There's where he had one of the narrowest escapes from death he ever had. A dum dum bullet was fired at him while he was in his room. But the room had storm or double windows, and the bullet was detected, so that it missed him by about an inch and one-half. However, the glass cut his face, and plaster was torn off the walls and ceilings. The Church Federation of Laymen was organized there and continued the work Bulgin had begun. Then the evangelist toured all of the principal cities of the state, including Guthrie, Tulsa, Okmulgee, etc. In Muskogee she sets fire to his tent and burns it down. At Butte, Mont., during a similar cleanup campaign, he was again fired at this time on the street. But he again escaped. So did his assailant. Bulgin was making his headquarters at Billings, and U.S. Senator Miles put up $30,000 and they started a daily paper called "The Paramount Issue," which ran for a year. The paper, the United church and the revival resulted in putting Montana into the dry column by 47,000 votes. That was before federal prohibition came in. All sorts of lying stories have been told about him. One story against the government is shown in the film analysis a loss to the governors of that score of but $48,574—a sum slightly more than per cent of what the $3,013,302—the railroads originated. The final adjustment shows total of $243,$47.196 allowed creditor roads, and $195,072 collected from the debtor roo Separate settlements with 371 teams, many representing more than one company, were necessary to effect the liquidation. Archer, received bruises and cuts when they were knocked down near their home last night by an auto driven by Thomas L. Wright, Santa Anaanchir. The two women were walking along the highway, it was reported and were carrying a flashlight which Wright apparently did not see. An ambulance was called to take the women to their homes. PEPU-NA For STOMACH CATARPH Tablets or Liquid Sold Everywhere Bulgin made the man who spread the last yarn eat his words with a vengeance. Here is an affidavit, sworn to before a notary, in connection with the drive at Everett, by one C. C. Gordon. "Kennewick, Wash., Dec. 4, 1920. This is to certify that I, C. C. Gordon, know absolutely nothing detrimental to Dr. E. J. Bulgin and that when I made the statement and caused to be circulated the false story that Dr. Bulgin had robbed a widow woman of $250 or any other amount, and also the story that he was run out of the town of Colfax, and that when I said I could prove that by four parties, I deliberately and wilfully lied, and I did not at the time nor now believe these stories which I circulated. I am sorry that I repeated that which is not true and caused injury to come upon an innocent man. "I do hereby apologize to Dr. Bulgin and the community, and so far as in me lies, I will try to undo the harm already done." There were some two score of red light places in Everett. A feature of that campaign was the finding of copies of one of the vilest letters imaginable, of which 160 had been circulated among high school children. The letter was part of the white slave traffic. The Law and Order league, then organized, completed the work of the revival. Another favorite stunt to shake public confidence in Bulgin has been to circulate lying stories about him when he was several hundreds or thousands of miles again fired at this time on the street. All sorts of lying stories have been told about him. One story declared he had been off into the mountains with a 16-year-old girl. Another told by a butcher, that he had failed to support his family and that the butcher had furnished free meat for them. A third, at Everett, Wash., that he had defrauded a widow of $250. TEN COMMANDMENTS Dr. Bulgin said: You will find the words of my text tonight in Galatians III, 10 and James II, 10; the two together because they belong together. My subject is, "God’s Measurement of Man." St. Paul’s Epistle to the Galatians said: "Cursed is everyone that continues not in all things which are written in the book of law to do them." James II, 10, says: "For whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." I heard a man make the remark today that so long as a man had a good moral character it is all God asks of him; that if a man has a good moral character he doesn’t need Bulgin’s gospels; he does not need regeneration. WHAT IS CHARACTER? I am prepared to agree with the man that so long as a man has a good moral character it is all God does ask or can ask of any man. But what is moral character? We may get into a pitched battle over that but for fear that I cannot settle it. There are only two text. It is a sin that sticks a dagger into the very heart of the remedy that God has provided for all the rest of your sins. Is not that clear enough and reasonable and logical enough? Now you can see why Jesus said that is the condemning sin. God demands of you that you should know Him. What would be the condition of society if a father and a husband had a family of eight or ten children and never knew his own children, and the children never knew their father?. Could we maintain society like that? No, sir; we would be worse than savages. The unit of government begins in the home. Since the unitt of government begins in the home, anything that strikes a fatal blow at the home striker a fatal blow at our flag. Get that, will you men? Now, a father should know his children and the children should know their father is an underlying principle of government, for there is where the child learns obedience, that is where he is educated and where he finds responsibility where he is made to obey. What kind of society would it be if it found that the father and the children never knew each other. What an outrageous condition would come about. Therefore, there is nothing more damnable than the sin for unbelief. How it tears down the principle of this flag. And if something is not done to stem unbelief in America we are going on the rocks. RELATION WITH GOD The second commandment is not a repetition of the first, because the second commandment forbids a practice only possible after the first commandment has been broken. The first commandment is that the Lord God Jehovah is the only God and that you should know Him. Now, when you start out to worship, don’t use anything to misrepresent Him; don’t instead of the genuine article, worship any graven image, or any likeness of anything whatever. It is not a repetition, it simply forbids only possible after the first commandment is broken. Women Kindest to Slayer of Moth SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. "Women have been kindest me in my troubles but I no special preference about rors who try me. I don’t if they are men or women. Dorothy Killingson told national News Service too. "I believe I would preserve six men and six womens on the jury," she said, it doesn't make much sense. "Everyone has been good to me—especially Sullivan, the police master did not have stood up this if it had not been her." APPROPRIATION STIRS UP SENATE SACRAMENTO, Jan., 28 honesty and good faith on Nor Friend W. Richardson management of the sita nances were sharply questioned day by Senator Herbert C. Of San Jose when she sent reconsideration an appropriation for the senators. The measure, already passed both houses, appropriates for the veterans' use as sponsored by Assemblyman Eskward, administration leader at the request of error. Two years ago, the Propos were responsible for pass appropriation for the senate pose and were denounced governor as being "spend" "tie-count politicians" and things deemed reprehensible by Governor, Senator Joan. The measure passed two times failed to become a THE ANARCHY OF SIN Sin is anarchy against God and heaven. Adam before he fell was God's ideal man. God could see moral character in him, but when Adam fell God never saw a good moral character again until Jesus Christ. The second man born of a woman and fathered by the Holy Ghost can into this world. You have to come by that route, absolute perfection as Adam had before he fell, or through the second man, the Lord Jesus Christ, and if you have not come through being a perfect man like Adam or through Lord Jesus Christ, you have not come at all. While ago you said, "He is getting too liberal," but now when I tell you what God's measure of good moral character is you say, "You are getting too tight." But I am only going by God's word: Cursed is everyone that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend in one paint, he is guilty of all. NO ONE IS PERFECT I have never seen a perfect man or a perfect woman in all any life. If you attack that flag you are put in the penitentiary and I want to repent. WHAT IS CHARACTER? I am prepared to agree with the man that so long as a man has a good moral character it is all God does ask or can ask of any man. But what is moral character? We may get into a pitched battle over that but for fear that I cannot settle it I am going back to my next text. There are only two pictures in the Bible about good moral character. The first one was Adam before he felt. God made him an ideal man, and as long as Adam was without sin he had a good moral character. But after Adam deliberately committed sin with his eyes open there never was a good moral character any more throughout the long list of patriarchs and judges and rulers and kings and prophets—God's eye never rested on a man of good moral character until we open John's gospel. If you can measure up with Adam before he fell and no sin has ever tainted your garments in thought, word or deed, you have never done anything wrong, and in God's sight you have a good moral character, but if you have ever sinned once that one sin is enough to damn your soul, because one sin is an indication that the fountain from which that one sin has come has many sins. With God it is not a question of how many sins, but as to the enormity of the sin. One match in a powder magazine will do as much damage as a bushel of fire. THE ANARCHY OF SIN Sin is anarchy against God and heaven. Adam before he fell was God's ideal man. God could see moral character in him, but when Adam fell God never saw a good moral character again until Jesus Christ. The second man born of a woman and fathered by the Holy Ghost can into this world. There is a world of difference when being transformed and reformed. The church of Almighty God is school to develop Christian character. The biggest sin in this nation is not stealing a horse, not killing a man. What is the biggest sin, murder? No, sir. Horsetealing? No, sir. Getting drunk? No, sir. The biggest sin in the world is to break the greatest commandment. This is the first and greatest commandment. Love the Lord thy God, with all thy heart. What is the biggest sin? To break that biggest commandment, and not to love God with all thy heart. The sin of unbelief is a bigger sin than stealing a horse. Why? Because THE BIGGEST SIN The biggest sin in this nation is not stealing a horse, not killing a man. What is the biggest sin, murder? No, sir. Horsetealing? No, sir. Getting drunk? No, sir. Is there a man or child here tonight who kept the ten commandments one of you. The hook is everyone that continues all that is written in the law. Now, you say look right. Suppose keeps nine of the comma and breaks one, has hell for breaking one? Look right. Yes if d will tell you why, I have a great big chain chain has 10 links of N and steel, but there is a chain that is made she will break at that nine good links, but on a chain is only as stout weakest link. If you all the commandments one you have broken then what are you going to turn your back on Sim O, God, I have failed, I I have not moral chata God says I have set up mount called Calvary your face towards Calvary died to save you. If you attack that flag you are put in the penitentiary and I want to tell you that all that flag is or ever will be we owe to the precepts and principles of this old Book. USING GOD'S YARDSTICK Now I am going to put before you some of God's yardstick tonight. The first yardstick is the first commandment: "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me!" Why does He say that. He tells you why in the verse ahead of that. I am the Lord thy God, which have brought these out of the land of Egypt, out of the houses of bondage. If that is so, He had a right to forbid them from having any other God. If God Almighty is the dejohovy, the God that always was, now is and always will be, has He not a right to forbid anybody from having any other God? That is logical. If Uncle Sam puts out a $5 bill or a $10 bill and puts his stamp on that, or stamps a piece of silver, have you any right to make a counterfeit? I don't care what you put in that counterfeit. I don't care what it is made of, have no right to misrepresent the standard of the nation, and you will be put in the penitentiary if you do it. If God is the only God, has He not a right to forbid you having any other God? Sure. Why? Because any other God would be a counterfeit. THE BIGGEST SIN The biggest sin in this nation is not stealing a horse, not killing a man. What is the biggest sin, murder? No, sir. Horsetealing? No, sir. Seventh, then shalt not commit adultery. Is there a man in this house who would walk up to the altar and marry a woman about whose character you had the shadow of doubt? No, sir. If you were going to married at 9:30 and you had positive evidence, that the bride-to-be was a fallen woman, a scarlet woman, you would stop right there. I don't care how many hearts you would break. You would stop right there. They have the same right to demand of us the same standard that we demand of them. A woman falls and you kick her down the hill, and she never can walk up again, and yet a man can fall and gallant around with his thumbs in his vest holes and fool some good girl somewhere a little later. "Thou shalt not commit adultery." Hold on. We are not adulturers. How do you know? Let us put Jesus on the witness stand. Come on. Thou Eternal Judge, and take the witness stand and speak to these people: "Who soever looketh upon a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery in his heart already." Did you ever have the hellish desire, the abominable desire? If you did, in God's eyes you have committed adultery. BEARING FALSE WITNESS Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." MINISTER RESULTS ATHENS,Jan.20,20 Women Kindest to Slayer of Mother SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 20. Women have been kindest to me in my troubles but I have no special preference about juveniles who try me. I don't care if they are men or women," Dorothy Ellingson told International News Service today. "I believe I would prefer to have six men and six women on the jury," she said. "But it doesn't make much difference." "Everyone has been pretty good to me—especially Mrs. Sullivan, the police matron, I couldn't have stood up thru this, if it had not been for her." PROPRIATION STIRS UP SENATOR SACRAMENTO, Jan. 20.—The honesty and good faith of Governor Friend W. Richardson, in his management of the state's finances were sharply questioned today by Senator Herbert C. Jones San Jose when the senate was asked to reconsider an emergency appropriation for the war veterans. The measure, already passed by both houses, appropriates $16,000 for the veterans' use and is sponsored by Assemblyman Frank Kresward, administration floor leader at the request of the governor. Two years ago, the Progressives were responsible for passing an appropriation for the same purpose and were denounced by the governor as being "spendthrift." The county politicians' and other things deemed reprohensible by the governor, Senator Jones said. The measure passed two years ago failed to become a law be- CASE NOT LIKE CHICAGO YOUTHS CITY PRISON, SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 20.—Dorothy Ellingson, the jazz baby who shot down her mother from behind, thinks like Kid McCoy—she has nothing in common with Nathan Leopold, Jr., and Richard Loeb, the Chicago youths who killed "for a thrill." "I should say not—my case is not like that of Leopold and Loeb," Dorothy said today, "and I wouldn't have Clarence Darrow for my attorney on a bet. If they are thinking of getting Darrow for me they better stop right now. I won't have him at all." Dorothy, her rust-colored bob matching her suit of almost the same color, cried less today and appeared to be happiest, as she surveyed stacks of mail sent to her from all parts of the country and gifts of Bibles, prayerbooks, fruits and flowers. A steady stream of letters and messages of friendship reached the "jazz maniac" during the day. One church and several mission workers' societies were among those writing Dorothy. They urged her to take up religion and "save herself from hell." "I tried to read the Bible today but I just can't," Dorothy said frankly. Among the letters received by Dorothy was one from "Daddy Docoing," an 85-year-old grandfather of Los Angeles. He begged Dorothy to "try the other side of life." Across the letter was written: "Let him among you who is without sin cast the first stone." Another letter was from a friend" who said she had been in a similar situation. "Your mother knows and forgives you," the letter said. Dorothy placed this letter within the breast of her blouse. Today's outstanding developments in the case were: I—Dorothy declared she alone was responsible for her mother's WOMAN GOVERNOR OF TEXAS TODAY AUSTIN, Tex., Jan. 20.—Texas today began an experiment unexampled in the political history of the United States. The precedent was not so much in the inauguration today of Mrs. Miriam A. Ferguson as first woman governor of the state as in the belief generally expressed that her stewardship will be more specious than solid, that her husband, ex-Gov. Jas. E. Ferguson, impeached six years ago, will be in reality the chief executive of Texas—"the ruling power behind the throne." Mrs. Ferguson is not the first woman governor in the country; she lost that honor to Mrs. Nellie Taylor Ross of Wyoming. But it is certainly unusual if one should be governor in name but not in fact. The Fergusons themselves were the first to deny that Jim will be governor in his wife's name. "That is absolutely unfair and there is not a word of truth in it," declared Ferguson. "I will help my wife, of course, but she will be governor in every sense of the word. Time will prove that statement." Mark what I say. Because of his previous experience at governor, Mrs. Ferguson declared that naturally she would consult her husband frequently on matters of state. Just the same, Ferguson was subjected today to a great deal of testing at the hands of testing at the hands of his friends, called "crown prince," "prime minister," "chief consort," etc. Time only can tell whether, "Ma" Ferguson, center of one of the bitterest political fights in Texas, a state fierce in political struggles, will be a "puppet" governor or chief executive in name as well as in fact of the biggest state in the Union. The Fergusons today took up residence in the executive mansion, from which they were driven by "Jim's" impeachment. Two years ago, the Progressives were responsible for passing an appropriation for the same purpose and were denounced by the governor as being "spendthrifta" in the county politicians, and other things deemed reproducible by the governor, Senator Jones said. The measure passed two years ago failed so become a law because the governor would not sign it. "I, for one," he declared, will not sit silent and watch such double dealing to pass unchallenged." REVISE PROBE IN McCLINTOCH DEATH CHICAGO, Jan. 20 — A possibility of arrest in connection with the death of William McClintock was forseen here today when the virtually defunct "death probe" was revived at a secret star chamber conference between Croner Dean Wolf, Chief of Police Morgan Collins and Judge Harry Olson, chief investigator of the investigation. The presence of Collins at the conference immediately gave rise to reports that arrests impended. It was the first entry of the police department into the probe. The conference came to public attention only when newspaper men called at the coroner's office to learn the reasons for the continued delay in calling the inquest which it had been believed would amount only to the admission of a formal report that McClintock died only from a typical textbook case of typhoid. BIND OVER YOUTHS Donald Cameron and Elroy Morris, youths, were given preliminary hearing before Judge Kuchel today on the charge of holding up W. E. Brown of the West End cafeteria some time ago. Brown positively identified Cameron as one of the men. They were bound over on a ball of $2500 each to await the action of the superior court. DENY VATICAN APPROVAL ROME, Jan. 20 — The Osservatore Romano today denied the administration's bill against secret societies, but admitted the Vatican approved the measure as vindication of the rights of political authorities to be informed of the action of citizens organizations. MINISTER RESIGNS ATHENS, Jan. 20 — Foreign Minister Rousseau has resigned and will leave for America soon. It was announced today. His place will be held until she is 23 years old. R. Pagel, head of the prohibition raiders' forces, took steps to co-operate with police in the arrest of bootleggers dealing with "shieks" and young girls. 5—Alexander Moselin, named by the father as the girl's attorney, conferred with Dorothy while Public Defender Frank J. Egan said he would not officially withdraw from the case unless requested to do so by the defense. SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 20 — Skiles cleared today for Dorothy Ellingson, 16-year-old red-headed San Francisco girl who committed matricide because her mother tried to halt her mad flight down the trail of jazz. Today's turn of events indicated the "jazz maniac" would gain her freedom after spending seven years in the girl's school at Ventura, Calif. Attorneys for the girl announced the case had been removed from police court channels and Dorothy will appear tomorrow at a preliminary hearing in the juvenile court. This will probably mean that the girl who killed her mother in the first case of its kind recorded in California will be off a long prison sentence. Thursday morning, after her hearing in the juvenile court, the girl will have her case automatically turned over to the juvenile branch again for disposition. Then under the California law the limit sentence for the girl would be to remain in the Ventura Girls School until she is 23 years old. "Yes, but don't quote me on that." Mrs. C runs to Mrs. D, "Did you hear that Jones was turned down at the bank?" Their piano is gone and the Ford is gone, but don't say a word about it." And then Mrs. D goes to Mrs. E and says, "Don't it perfectly awful about the way Jones has failed in business?" In there a man or woman or child here tonight whoever has kept the ten commandments? Not one of you. The book says, cursed is everyone that continues not in all that is written in the book of the law. Now, you say that don't look right. Suppose a fellow keeps nine of the commandments and breaks one, has he to go to hell for breaking one? That don't look right. Yes it does, and I will tell you why. Suppose we have a great big chain and that chain has 10 links of Norway iron and steel, but there is one link in the chain that is made of cast iron, she will break at that. There are nine good links, but one bad one. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If you have kept all the commandments and broken one you have broken the one link. Then what are you going to do? Turn your back on Sinai and say, O God, I have failed, I have sinned. I have not moral character. Thursday morning, after her hearing in the juvenile court, the girl will have her case automatically turned over to the Juvenile branch again for disposition. Then under the California law the limit sentence for the girl would be to remain in the Ventura Girls School until she is 23 years old. Two 16-year-old girls and a youth, all admitting they attended a gay party at the home of David Stein and met there Dorothy Ellingson on the night of the day she slew her mother, were apprehended by police and were to be questioned today. The girls are Catherine Mossman and Thelma Volberg, and the boy is Emil Kreuter, a jazz band drummer. Kreuter was held on a statutory charge, according to police. Kreuter told the officers of the Stein home entertainment, where Dorothy, a few hours after she shot her mother was regarded as the "life of the party." "I gave my entire attention to Dot that night and before the evening was over we became very friendly," the jazz drummer boy told police. While Dorothy continued to show little interest in her fate, her father and brother and attorneys quarreled regarding plans for the girl's defense. An array of alienists and scientists to testify that Dorothy is suffering from "mental illness" was planned by Alexander Moslim, an attorney, who took charge of the case of the "daughter of jazz" late yesterday but the viking-featured father bitterly opposed this more. "I want my daughter to root her case on just the facts," he said. "There has never been any insanity in our family and Dorothy has always been regarded as a perfectly normal child. I don't like this business of alienists and I want her to tell in court just what happened—the whole truth, hiding nothing." Earl Ellingson, the girl's brother, admitted "jazz insanity" might form a feature of his sister's defense. He said he had talked with Moslim and that the attorney believed the girl's mad act was a result of a "jazz crazed" mind. The most economical little salesman is a Class Ad in this paper. The defendant and his wife, who was in court with their two children, koover, flatly denied from the stand they had seen the two men and were emphatic in denying they ever sold the liquor. Judge West will pass sentence Friday, at which time it was indicated Blickmore would ask for probation. FEAR "FRAME UP" VANCOUVER, B. C., Jan. 20.
