Real Estate and Rentals TAKE OUT YOUR OWN INSURANCE "When you build a house you yourself take out the fire insurance upon it," says the Ross Turbine Engine Co., successors of the Anaheim Metal Industries, in a lengthy statement issued today, explaining why they located in the city. "You do not depend upon anyone else to safeguard that investment. When you put your money in real estate and do not put money in industrial development—that thing upon which future land value increases must depend—you make an investment which you leave uninsured. If you leave it to someone else to finance the industrial growth you will probably find that someone else is leaving it to you. Undor such a condition the industries do not grow, the payrolls do not come, the land values are in danger of decreasing." The company makes its position perfectly clear, and speaks a strong word for industry in general. "Don't expect outside capital to come here and increase your land valuations and your business volume by putting in payroll industries if you yourself refuse to put your own money into that channel." "You could just as logically ask your neighbor to take out fire insurance on your home." In an earlier paragraph the company says: "Investors in real estate should put 10 per cent of their investment funds into expansion programs of Anaheim industries." "The result would be the most startling industrial expansion that ever took place in Anaheim." The company insists that "the maintenance of present values and" LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS. WHOS WHOM IN THE DAYS NEW BARON AGO VON MALTZAN The new German ambassador to the United States, Baron Ago von Maltzan comes to this country not as a stranger to official War lington. While he was serving as under secretary in the German forest office for the past three years, Baroness Von Maltzan entertained many American visitors standing in the German capital on aficial or unofficial business. Baron and Secretary Of St Hughes met while the head of U.S. department was in Berlin last summer. Baron von Maltzan is 47 years old, a native of Mecklenburg, a was educated at the University of Bonn and Breslau. Started on a military career, he became lieutenant of dragoons in 1887 but shifted to the diplomatic service as an attaché in 1906, served as secretary of legislation Rio de Janeiro, Christiana and St. Petersburg, and in 1912 came councilor of legislation Pekin, where he remained until China entered the war against Germany. He has been an undearest secretary in the foreign office in the past three years. Barron von Maltzan accompanied Foreign Secretary Ratheney and Chancellor Wirth to the U.S. conference and was influenced in framing the treaty of Rwanda between Russia and Germany, which came as such a great surprise to the entente power represented at the Genoa gathering. While in China he married Edith Cruson, daughter of a prominent Magdeburg steel manufacturer. They have one daughter. "You could just as logically ask your neighbor to take out fire insurance on your home." In an earlier paragraph the company says: "Investors in real estate should put 10 per cent of their investment funds into expansion programs of Anaheim industries." "The result would be the most startling industrial expansion that ever took place in Anaheim." The company insists that "the maintenance of present values and the future increases of Anaheim real estate values depends upon the furnishing of more jobs. The stability of the city's entire economic structure depends upon more jobs for more people. He who thinks otherwise has not that seriously." "Jobs can be furnished only through the development of payroll industries. It is therefore not only good business, but absolutely essential business that every man who puts a dollar in real estate or any other kind of investment should also invest other dollars in the building of the city's payrolls. It is a duty not so much to the city as to himself." "ERA OF GOOD TIMES WILL LAST," SAYS MARSHALL FIELD HEAD. "The United States is now enclosing upon a new era of industrial expansion that promises prosperity for many years to come. We may confidently expect this expansion to be healthy and stable and to be comparable in its results to the period of prosperity which followed the election of President McKinley in 1896." Such is the opinion of conditions generally, expressed recently by James Simpson, president of Marshall Field & Co. "These predictions are based upon the fact that fundamental conditions are in better balance than for many years past. We have a nane, powerful administration of legislation and finance. Agricultural conditions have greatly improved. And we have a sound banking and mercantile credit situation, with money for all legitimate needs." Farmers Are Prosperous "Recovery in agricultural relationships is of paramount importance. When farmers are prosperous—when they are raising good crops and receiving good prices for them—there is nothing that need worry the business man, the professional man, or the public at large, with the possible exception of general world conditions." That our credit situation is in a healthful state is made manifest by general business conditions. Basic Steel Producing Good "Already favoring circumstances are yielding their fruits. There is a fine production of basic products. A sustained" NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS. O.A.WALKER,Agee "That our credit situation is in a healthful state is made manifest by general business conditions." Basic Steel Producing Good "Already favoring circumstances are yielding their fruits. There is a fine production of steel products. A sustained level of construction work is being maintained. A large volume of merchandise is now being rapidly moved into consumption." Since the first of November the volume of our own business, both wholesale and retail, has been largely in excess of the corresponding period of last year. "The inspiration afforded us by the straight forward and business-like management of our present national administration must surely furnish a fine incentive to all our people to strive for still greater accomplishments. With assurance that sanity will prevail in government for several years, business can plan for the future with confidence that the law of supply and demand—and not legislative manipulation—will govern in the determination of commodity prices." One of the evils of business today is a general tendency toward extravagance. Strict economy should be the slogan of every business man as well as his constant practice. Too much stress cannot be placed on wise economy being practiced by individuals and private business as well as by government." THE GEEVUM GIRLS THANK GOODNESS ONLY ONE MORE SCENE!
